---I got a replacement unit, and most of the flaws of my first unit seem to have gone away, though some of the patterns in odd shaped rooms and having issues on slight elevated sections of flooring --- I will leave below info for reference and searchability for others having these issues to know they need to RMA or exchange--- Pros: -Cleans well with single use and washable pads. -Battery life is surprisingly good even when using on the 'wet' mode all the time. Cons: -App works when it wants to. ****App problems wouldn't be an issue except some settings are only accessible via the app!!!!! I've gotten it to connect a couple of times, but often it just fails even after repeated tries and replacing/charging the battery. -Problematic movement algorithm flaws. *****Did anyone at iRobot even try this thing in a non-square room? Will sometimes refuse to cover any region to the left of it's placement, in the case of a room having a narrower side that you want to use the virtual wall. Sometimes will miss a foot to the left in a square room. I followed instructions for placement. Sometimes it just completely ignores the virtual wall. Better set up physical barriers anyway. Set it in the kitchen, check on it later, it's stuck on top of the low profile rug in the living room, despite being in virtual wall mode. Another time I tried again where it was placed in a way it would have to go 2 feet out of bounds, and it wound up in the hallway. It has about a 50/50 chance of handling this properly. Next up, getting itself stuck. It has a variety of ways of getting stuck. Make sure your oven drawer is either too high or too low for it to fit the bottom lip of the bump detector under, or it will get it wedged, despite the bumper visibly being pressed, and it will just continue to drive itself further under full speed ahead. You think it would notice the bumper being out of place and reverse. Next, make sure bottoms of cabinets are too low for it to go under or have plenty of clearance above. Again, it will get itself wedged under and you can see the unit getting closer to the ground as it just continues to wedge itself in there. Also check this for dishwasher, fridge, entertainment center, you get the picture. Next up, ANY inclination in flooring along an edge/wall, it will find and make sure to drive full steam ahead again until it's somehow stuck. These seem like VERY basic obstacles. Final Thought: 5 hours of testing could have lead iRobot to having developed a useful device. It cleans well and for a long time on a charge, but it won't cover what you want. It will find a way to get stuck, and it will make sure that it spends energy to make sure it gets stuck instead of reversing or working itself around.

My #irobot family is growing! I love my iRobot 680 so much, that I decided to give the mop a try too. I despise cleaning my textured kitchen floor tiles, and with a little child who occasionally decides to lick the floor 🤪, I have to constantly keep up with them. After letting this guy run once and seeing how much it picks up, I've decided to keep him. No, this will not replace me having to scrub the floors on occasion, but I definitely won't need to clean them as often now. These robots are sanity savers!!

12/17/2016 Update: After months of regular use, the Braava is still doing a fine job and I am still quite happy with it. My history with iRobot products goes back to the very first Roomba model in 2002. I have had many of them over the years, and even had the very first iRobot mopping robot, the Scooba. The Scooba was pricy and too big to reach areas in the bathroom. The newest iRobot Braava seems to solve these problems. It takes a very different approach than the Scooba did. Braava is tiny (kind of the size of a Mac mini) which means it has a much better chance of fitting in tiny areas between a toilet and sink. In my apartment, it easily fits on one side, but the other is still too close to the wall. It's also very short, so it fits under the lower kitchen cabinets and stove, which the Scooba never could. My old Scooba had to be filled with a mixture of water and cleaning solution, and had a rubber roller and squeegee to clean. The Braava is more like a Swiffer(TM) Wetjet. You put some water in the unit, then slide in a cleaning pad that contains the cleaning solution. There are also dry pads that just sweep and don't use water. You need to place the unit about a foot from each wall in the lower left of the room, then press a button to turn it on, then again to start it, and away it goes. Instead of the random-seeming "bump and go" action that a Roomba has, the Braava follows a pattern, zigging and zagging across the floor. The manual claims it will map out the room each time it is used, figuring out where the walls are. It seems much more intelligent than Roomba, though I still get a laugh when I see it bump in to a wall, then back up and pause, as if it's trying to figure out what just hit it. It covers the entire floor and hugs all the edges consistently in the three rooms I tested it in. When it bumped from kitchen floor to dining room carpet, it detected that and avoided spraying water and trying to mop there. Good job, iRobot. You can even power it up a special way to tell it "never go behind where you start" so if you want to clean just half of a large room, the unit will only clean what is in front of it. Clever. The Braava will squirt water in front of it, then quietly move forward and backwards over the spot in a Y pattern. While it moves, another motor inside causes it to vibrate over the floor, likely giving it greater cleaning power than manually pushing a Swiffer around. The unit is fairly quiet when moving, but gets noisier when squirting water (another motor) or vibrating (another motor). It stills seems quieter than my Roomba 560. The design is very nice. The packaging is about as good as I've seen for a non-Apple product. You get the Braava, a battery, battery charger, and a set of three types of cleaning pads (6 total). On the Braava, there is a handle that lifts up on the top for carrying it around, and also for getting to the rubberized plug where you put water in. I found I had to pour water in very slowly. There is also an eject button for removing the cleaning pad. You can just hold it over the trash can and pop it right out without ever touching the dirty pad. You get a small battery and a wall charger. You put the battery in the charger and plug it in. A flashing orange light turns green when charged. It takes 1-2 hours to charge then you can put the batter in the back of the Braava and do a full cleaning cycle. The charger and battery are small (it's not like the huge packs that the Roomba needs). The three types of cleaning pads include a dry pad (like an original Swiffer) which does not use water, a wet/dry (damp) one, and a wet one. You get two of each with the Braava. To test, I first swept my guest bathroom to get it as clean as I could with a broom and dust pan. Then I ran the Braava with a dry pad and it came out filthy full of hair and dirt my broom didn't get. Next I ran the wet pad and ended up with a much shinier (and clean smelling) bathroom. I do not know how this would compare to a Swiffer Wetjet, but I know putting in a pad, some water, and hitting a button is a much better use of my time. I enjoy watching TV while robots take care of the housework ;-) My first unit arrived defective (likely damaged in shipment - it had a slight rattle, which were from small screws that got knocked out), but iRobot quickly sent me a replacement. I have always had great support from iRobot, and they have replaced many earlier model Roombas I had during the 1-year warranties. My replacement Braava had no issues and has been working just great since I received it. The cleaning pads are $7.99 for a set of 10. Thus, the cost per cleaning is .79 cents. There is also a $20 set of 2 washable pads that you can re-use up to 50 times (.20 per use). The re-usable pads clean with water only since the cleaning solution is in the pads and you ONLY put in water in the Braava (no mixing of cleaning solution like you had to do with the Scooba). For under $200, this device is great for lazy folks like me who may only "mop" when there is a spill. I now expect to regularly clean my kitchen and bathrooms (and by "I" I mean the Braava robot). At .79 per use (or .20 with the re-usable pads), it compares favorably to the current price of Swiffer Wetjet refills of .60 each on Amazon, plus the cost of the Wetjet cleaning solution. Heck, it might actually be cheaper than manual cleaning (less cost of electricity). As much as I hate "disposable cleaning pads" (think of the landfills!), I do like the convenience. I am very happy with the Braava. I will update this review if that changes, but for right now, I'm glad to give it five stars.

This little lady (Maude), along with my iLife A4S (Harold), have revolutionized my life. For me, she is a fine replacement for mopping, considering the alternative was either not mopping at all, or occasionally shooting some Windex on the ground and wiping it up with a paper towel using my shoe. There are three modes - dry, moist, and wet, which are determined by the plastic mounts for the mopping pads (kinda like a Cobol card). I don't use the dry function, as I'd prefer to let my iLife A4s suck up the loose dirt, dust, and debris. The other two options work wonderfully. Moist sprays water and drives over it in a linear fashion. Wet does a triple-pass function going left, straight, and right over the same area. I will say, I used it on a wood floor once, and while it *did* clean it as evidenced by the gunk on the pad, it left behind visible marks in contrast to the direction of the grain of the wood. I could see someone not being pleased with this on wood floor. Nonetheless, I do not have wood floors, and this baby, along with Harold, make my house look like it is occupied by a grown adult, not the 34 year old man-child I actually am.

Fantastic! Have only had this one day but after fully charging the battery I set it off on a dry run to sweep, and then a wet run to really test the mopping capabilities. The ability to navigate its way around obstacles, and make sure it goes back to get the bits it misses is so impressive. Very quiet, mostly only hear it bumping into things, the motor itself is super quiet. It’s just so darn cute, even my cats have fallen instantly, stalking it around and watching it work. Perfect on my polished wooden floors that look marked as soon a yoir done cleaning. Can already see I will be able to rely on this little gem to keep the daily cleans done which is amazing. Only improvement would be if it had a docking station to recharge rather than have to remove the battery, but otherwise not a single complaint. Wish I’d had this years ago, nipping is my most hated chore, this now lets me only have to worry about doing a proper mop every month or so. That’s amazing with two adults, three cats and 2 dogs on polished wood floors! You won’t be disappointed if it is for light daily cleans. Stubborn dried spills won’t be solved with this, but fresh spills, polish-scuff, footprints and light daily dirt will be sorted.

Best little floor cleaner EVER! Battery lasts 2+ hours. All my floors get cleaned on one charge. AMAZING!!! and It cleans great, better then I clean even. The ease of use is awesome!! The virtual wall feature, built in, (option to use or not use) keeps it in the room I want it to stay in. I love not having to touch the used cleaning pads after its done cleaning. Just push a button and in the trash they go. The pad choices available for different uses all work wonderfully. My lament floors, vinyl floors and tile floors are all nicely cleaned. The phone app is so easy and convenient. It shows when the battery is low, when the cleaning is done, if more water is needed, if the virtual wall is on and if the cleaning pad needs changed. It does not drop connection like other robot apps do. The Braava just needs to be turned on (it doesn't need to be cleaning) for the app to work. I have checked on it, while its cleaning, to make sure it's still working because it's so quiet, and yep, it's always still scrubbing away. So far, it has never gotten "stuck" anywhere. It doesn't stop cleaning until the floor is clean. If you have stuff on the floor that you would have to scrub off, like scuff marks, this may not clean that either, but hey, if you have to really scrub hard, no mop can do that . You can spray cleaner on the floor on stubborn stuff, and let it soak for a bit, in advance of using the Braava, and it usually gets it cleaned up. I love the fact that all I have to add is water. No chemical mixing and using certain cleaners. The pads have cleaner in them and they are cheap enough & comparable to Swiffer cleaning pads. I run the Braava twice a week, at least, and my floors are always sparkling clean. It's great!!! I wish my high priced robot vac worked as well at what its suppose to do as this Braava does at mopping. I will never have to mop a floor again! How great is that?!!! BTW I named mine Maggie and I am now in love with a robot mop!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I have a small house, 2BR, 1 BA, all hardwood or tile throughout. It’s just me and my 2 indoor dogs (German shepherd mix and a short haired little mix). I purchased this and a roomba to help me keep the house in order bc I work 2 jobs. Essentially it is an automatic swifter and wet jet and it has been the biggest help to my routine. I’m not an overly anal ocd type and if you are you probably won’t like it. I put it in one room and when I come back, the room is clean. If it misses a spot (which happens sometimes) I just pick it up and let it start at that spot. If you’re ocd and you watch the thing do its job you’ll be like “why is he going over there? Will he come back to this and that and...”. Just let it go and let it clean :) It sweeps the dog hair up perfectly, sometimes I’ll let the roomba go first and let the braava go behind it and get left over dirt before mopping. It works about 2 hours then needs recharged. Again my house is smaller...if you have a large house the bigger model might be something you need to look at and compare options for. This one was perfect for me and all the muddy little paws in my house and I couldn’t have been more grateful for this little invention. Enjoy!!!

I do not usually write reviews. I wanted to share how much I love this little item. It is crazy simple to use on hardwood and tile floors. I also would like to say we have 3 small dogs (non shedding breeds) and live on an acre of land. We get a lot of traffic through the house needless to say. I have major lower back problems due to a car accident and mopping would usually be an all day event because my having to take breaks. I took a chance and bought the Braava. (I do have the Roomba and love it) I am going to be upfront and say it does not get the floors white glove clean but I do want to say it gets the floors 100% cleaner than not being mopped at all and that is my choice sometimes due to my back. I have used in in all my tile and hardwood areas and it's amazing in my opinion. I purchased the mopping pads and throw them in the wash with other times. The come out clean and ready to go back to work. The Wet mopping pads work good as well in my opinion. Anyone with a bad back or health issues that keeps them from mopping should consider this as an option.

I have had the Braava jet 240 for about 3 weeks now, and I just love it. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to keeping my kitchen and bathroom tiles clean. This thing is a game changer for me. If you just want to see some before/after pictures, see what I have added to this review. These pictures were taken where my trash can sits within the Kitchen. Judge me not :) The robot is very simple and small, and operation couldn't be easier. You fill the robots tank with some warm water, put on the cleaning pad of choice, pop in the battery and then let it loose in your desired location. The robot is not necessarily "super smart" in that it relies on running into objects to move around. But this actually works out quite well, and the robot does a really good job of sticking close to walls and edges. Corners can be a little tricky, see the screenshots I have added of a before/after picture. You will notice that one corner is still a bit dirty - well, the robot doesn't fully cover this corner for some reason. On the flip side, the dirt you see left is pretty much embedded into the tile. I had to get out a razor to scrap it off. And this leads me too... This robot is great for cleaning light to medium stains on your tiles/hardwood floors, as well as dusting. If you have deeply embedded stains, don't count on this robot getting them out. Words of warning: the robot recommends to not use a "cleaning solution" on stains you find on the tiles. What I mean is, you may be tempted to get out your 409 and spray a few deeper stains to help the robot clean them when it runs over them. This actually does work! BUT, you will get streaks if you are using the wet mop pads. These pads release a lot of their own chemicals while cleaning, so whatever you have added to the floor will get mixed with the robots own water, creating too much liquid for the pad to absorb. If you do get a lot of streaks, just pop on the dry cleaning pad and let the robot loose again! Charging time for the battery seems to be around 1-3 hours, depending on if you fully drained it previously.
