I have ordered Baron's tahini more than once and it is one of the best. It is not raw, but lightly toasted. Not bitter at all. I have eaten tahini for decades and can easily tell the difference between raw and toasted, and fresh or old. I do have a question, where is this made, anyone know?

Every time I make homemade hummus it's terrible. After several tries, I tasted the tahini by itself which was another brand from our local store and it was horrible, tasted rancid! I tried a few others, equally bad, some were separated and hard to mix. I found baron's on Amazon which had great reviews so I tried it. What a Huge difference, this is delicious right out of the jar smooth and creamy too. I tried my hummus again and it was the best I have ever eaten ever! This will be a staple in our house it is great on so many things and the smooth pourable consistency makes it even more versatile. This is by far the very best tahini I have purchased, I love it!

Jury was out on this stuff when I first got it. I usually buy tahini in the middle eastern supermarkets in my neighborhood of the usual brands and I'm accustomed to getting sesame oil floating on top of nut solids that I have to mix together to combine. That's pretty much standard issue for tahini. This stuff is already blended, not separated but the label does not list any ingredients other than sesame (no emulsifiers to keep it bound) so I'm not sure how they do it. It is also creamier and runnier than well mixed standard tahini, which tells me that it has a higher oil content. Regardless, it tastes very good and makes excellent tahini dressing and hummus. Another difference between this and other tahini, is that most all tahini has a slight bitter aftertaste. I'm accustomed to that flavor and appreciate it. This tahini has very little if any of that bitterness. Anyway, the jury is in and I've decided that I like it very much, will buy again.

First off I have no idea what tahini is supposed to look like. I have never bought prepared before. Crazy expensive so I make my own with sesame seeds and a touch of sesame oil and its really thick. I put it with a banana. So that said, this is from Isreal where they know tahini. The flavor is very good, its organic, and the price is better than home making it which is why I tried it, but its very runny (like warm honey). I am adjusting to the texture by pouring in a lil cup and dipping my banana in it. So 4 3/4 stars. A bit thicker would be nice but i will buy again. It saves me the trouble of making it and so far Im saving money. I commend the company for making an organic product at a decent price. Too many organic companies price the average guy out of buying healthy food options.

Long story short: Baron's is 5/5. Pepperwood is 4.5/5. Why? Keep reading. Wasn't sure which one I'd like more, so ordered both brands. Both organic, stone grounded, great reviews, etc. Baron's is indeed a little runnier and lighter (maybe it is produced in a more humid environment) but I actually like it this way, no need to dilute if you want to whip a quick desert. And it actually tastes silkier, which I prefer. Baron's is also coming in a bigger jar, so in a way you get compensated for the loss of concentration, if there was one in the first place. Add on top the current price advantage of Baron's and you get yourself a winner.

Confession... I have a tahini addiction. I use it in all kinds of recipes. Beware if you have a sweet tooth because tahini mixed with maple syrup is a dangerous concoction, LOL! I used to really prefer tahini that had a more thick peanut butter-like consistency, however, now that I use it in so many different kinds of dishes, I need one that is more liquidy. I also prefer more 'liquidy' these days because I am on a diet and I can easily measure/control the serving size I use (this was not the case with a thicker version, with a thicker version I had to microwave it a little to 'loosen' it up). Now, let me be clear, this tahini is not like water, it is creamy silky velvet... and IT IS SO DELICIOUS! If you want it super thick then you can throw it into the freezer -- this will make it like a tub of butter. Anyway, I'm on my 4th jar of this brand; there is no stopping me - I am hooked!

Arrived on time and well packed. It's the best tahini I've purchased so far. Good full flavor and no excess of added oil separated on the top. Blends well in sauces and nut butters. I eat WFPB so I use tahini often in place of processed oils and other unhealthy fats. Nice to get two jars for such a fair price.

Love this product and sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop...tahini junkie from way back who decided to give this one a try after research and reading reviews. In my area there are only a few brands available, all of which are MUCH higher price, and often old [if not rancid]. ICK. I'm confident I support the tahini trade around here so not really shocking...Baron is so tasty, well packaged, and doesn't separate. and OH MY GOODNESS so much cheaper than what I can get locally. So far so very good. I'll be buying this one now :)

Haven't made hummus yet but this is delicious tahini straight out of the jar. Certainly the most delicious raw tahini I have ever tasted, including from my local cooperative. perhaps they toast the sesame seeds, I don't know. However, for this older person, opening the plastic jar is a pain! I won't take off any stars for that, because I'm sure it will get easier. Will try to post again after making hummus. Also, since this was delivered during freezing weather, and inadvertently sat outside several days during the freeze, the hummus was still in perfect shape. Thank you !

This tahini is only slightly thinner in consistency than some other brands after thoroughly mixing the oil and solids (for example, Joyva or Roland) with this product having an edge on the other brands in that it didn't completely separate and is much easier to work with. It has a nice flavor and does not have an overly bitter aftertaste. Upon opening, it has a clean, rich sesame aroma. One of the jars in my order leaked during transport (inner seal leaked). I recommend ordering this item separately from other items that might become ruined by oil. The price is a terrific value, especially for an organic product. Expiration date on my order is well into the future. Jar does not indicate that it needs to be refrigerated after opening. Jar with snap on lid is no better or worse than other products I've used. Will order this again when I need more tahini. tip: when using tahini in a recipe like hummus, 'break' the tahini first with your lemon juice (or other liquid) and mix it really well before adding or processing your other ingredients. It will aid in making a smoother final dish.
