This food and the other Stella & Chewy s ones have totally transformed my Japanese Chin. She got to she would not eat. I thought it was because her beloved Lab had to be put to sleep because of cancer. So I tried every food in the store. She developed where she chewed constantly her feet, her hip, any place she could chew. Took her to the vet and he said she was having an allergy to grains. So I switched her to grain free everything. It slowed down but did not stop. Then he had me try Skineze. This helped but did not stop the chewing. Then he told me about this but said I would need deep pockets if it worked. Well the pockets have now reached my knees. It is insane the price of this food, BUT she stopped chewing. Completely. She is not all red when you look at the skin on her belly. Before she was red all the time. She loves this. I put water on it, sometimes I don't she will let you know if she wants it Dr'd up. I give this to her and nothing else. For one little dog it is about 150.00 a month. I am retired. I have learned to let things go for me. I have to keep her comfortable and happy. This food does it. If you ever give out free food sign me up. LOL

My three year old Shihtzu has been the world's most finicky eater! I have never seen a pup like this! When I brought him home at 9 weeks old, I bought the food he was eating. He wouldn't eat it. I can't tell you how many different brands of food I tried! I tried everything to get him to eat. I read books on the subject, with his vet, talked with other people, but didn't have any luck. He is just as fussy with his treats and edible rawhides. Ben had no problem going 3-5 days without food. I tried to make dinner time as stress free as possible for him. I made him wonderful meals. He liked it for a few days and then turned his nose up to it. I can't tell you how much I stressed over this! He was healthy and happy in every other way. My daughter-in-law bought this as a treat for her pups. Ben tried it and loved it. I ordered one bag to try. Ben loved it so much, I am getting ready to order our third bag! I am really happy to have finally found something he will eat! Thank you Stella and Chewy's!!!!!

Seriously, we *LOVE* Stella and Chewy's foods! I've been feeding the Surf and Turf freeze dried to my dogs for close to 2 months now. One of my dogs has a black thick coat which I noticed the Stella and Chewy's has made his coat healthy and very shiny. And that's which feeding it to him just as an "add-in" to give him a variation form his normal food. I like to give them the best, healthiest food possible. I'd feed them both a "raw" tailored diet of I could (which if like to work towards soon). However I feel Stella and Chewy's is *the* next best thing to a raw diet. Recently I went to visit my mom and shared some of our Stella and Chewy's with her small dog. Her dog is not a huge eater and is very picky BUT he was immediately interested in the Stella and Chewy's I was feeding my dog while visiting. Now my mom actually purchased 2 packages of Stella and Chewy's flavors herself for her dog and he absolutely LOVES it too! He and my dogs both gobble it up and are super happy and healthy too. I'm actually considering feeding my dogs Stella and Chewy's as their primary food as it's completely nutritionally balanced, has very high quality ingredients and my dogs get so excited every time they even just see the bag being taken out for feeding. I love that they lover it. If they're happy and healthy, I'm super pleased and thankful. With so many dog food companies claiming to be "natural" and made with "good, wholesome ingredients" these days, (when in fact they aren't) Stella and Chewy's definitely sets and maintains higher quality standards which is super important for me for my dogs. Lastly the fact that Stella and Chewy's is rated a 5-star food on Dog Food Advisor is definitely a huge plus as well! :D See for yourself @: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/stella-chewys-raw-freeze-dried/

Thought I’d try this for my aging 12yo havanese. Freeze dried is a new concept for my household but it sounded like the right path since it’s healthy with limited raw ingredients. Opened the bag and boy did I have reservations when eyeballing and feeling these pucks. But ya know what? My picky old-man dog freaking LOVES these “burgers”!!! I’m telling you he devours them, believing they are treats rather than his meal. So easy to break apart for small dogs, and requires almost no chewing, which is perfect since my boy only has 6 teeth left. He’s a good water drinker, so the issue of these biscuits looking like pressed sawdust (since freeze-dried) is not any issue. Will buy again.

We have been feeding our Westie Freeze dried raw food for about a year. It is pricey but the difference in health is worth it. We started with Primal because we had fed our last dog Primal raw frozen. She liked it, but one time I tried Stella & Chewy's and we found that the patties stayed together a little better, they have more variety and Millie likes some of their flavors better. Besides that I found it to be just a little cheaper for an extra ounce (15 oz vs 14oz for primal. Millie loves all the varieties but Surf and Turf is one of her favorites along with Duck Duck Goose. The food comes in a ziplock bag and contains patties. You feed your dog a certain number of patties based on their weight and how much activity they get. I feed my 17lb Westie 2 patties in the morning and 2 at night. I never counted how many patties are in a bag, but I am guessing this would last at least a week. We feed her something different for each meal so I never finish one bag all at once. To feed you just break up the patty into crumbs and add water to rehydrate. Some dogs might be able to eat it dry but I prefer to feed it with moisture as it would be naturally. The freeze drying just makes it easier to ship and store but in my opinion it should really be served wet. I feed this as a complete meal but you can also add just a small amount as a topper or mixer to dry food. Thanks for reading my review Becky Brooks *I paid full price for this food it was not a sample. I paid $24.99. I see it is now listed at $25.99 I have noticed these foods go up and down in price so it's best to stock up when you see that the price is lower

When my dog was a pup, I struggled to find a food he would eat. I happened to go into a boutique style dog store and a Stella and Chewy's rep was handing out samples... she gave me several flavors to try.... My dog is now 9 and the ONLY food he will eat is the Stella and Chewy's Surf and Turf. He goes to the vet every three weeks to get groomed and the vet sees him....he is always healthy! Thank you for a great product.

This is my Havanese's favorite dinner food, along with ZiwiPeak's beef and lamb dog food. Neither she nor the other dog of our household like it wet, so we serve it dry and give plenty of water on the side. These are VERY crumbly patties--the comments noting that they fall apart or arrive in shreds are accurate (though most of them arrive intact within the bag, or with only the edges crumbled). That makes no difference to the taste, though, and I crumble them up anyway before serving them, so as a practical matter the crumbly nature makes no difference to the dogs. It may, though, explain why my dogs so greatly prefer Stella & Chewy to Primal Nuggets, which are much more tightly compressed. I suspect that some of the oil and the flavor is pressed out of the latter but remains in the Stella & Chewy. Flavorwise, Stella & Chewy has several options and at least two formats. The "meal mixers" sound, from the description, as though they would be the same (except pre-crumbled) but they are definitely less-preferred by the dogs; I won't buy more of those. The Duck Duck Goose and the Surf & Turf flavors are the best-liked overall of those we've tried, with lamb close behind. Downside of Surf & Turf is that we've had a few bones (NOT hard enough to hurt the dog, but prickly to the fingers when crumbling them); downside of lamb is that it's oilier and so your hands will feel oily after crumbling them. One of our dogs doesn't tolerate lamb as well, in any event, and that remains true for the patties. Bottom line: despite the high cost, this is a well-tolerated and healthy dog food that our somewhat picky eaters love.

Goal for next year: negotiate a raise simply because "my dog needs more Stella & Chewy's" The price of these patties is, well, insane. It was initially not my choice to feed my dog this (I'm way too frugal for that), however, my family kindly watched my dog while I had to leave the country for some time and they got him hooked. I was horrified when I learned about this, but they justified it in an interesting way - as insurance. (Feed the dog well now, less problems in the future - hopefully). They told me their biggest regret was feeding their two dogs grocery store junk and watching them suffer later in life. Novella aside, I'm hoping they're correct. This is definitely good eating. My dog goes crazy for the patties in almost every flavour. I've hit on a few bags with some poor quality control over the years, but Stella & Chewy's always pulls through when I let them know. They seem to be a great company that's actually focused on their four-legged customers. The patties are also very versatile - you can toss one as a treat, crumble them, soak them in water, or mix them with some kibble. I alternate. Just make sure to wash your hands afterward! I've happened to get violently ill a couple times since feeding by dog these patties, and I'm almost 100% sure it was due to being sloppy after feeding him. (These ARE raw meat at the end of the day, so be careful.) Until I go broke, my pooch will be eating these.

I started giving these to my 16 year old papillon who has lost 60% of his teeth over the years, as a supplement to his dry food. He had really bad cataracts and his coat was definitely duller than it had been when he was younger. Within about 2 weeks, his eyes were much clearer and his coat is soft and shiny. His energy level is also greatly improved and he's running around a bit again! I wish I would have started him on a diet like this earlier. I am a firm believer that food can really heal our bodies and it looks to be helping heal/improve the life of my beloved dog as well. I'm very pleased with this and I highly recommend! Great price if you subscribe and save and get 15% off. He gets 3 patty's a day as a supplement to his Origen Senior Dry Food.

This is my dogs' favorite food. I have a picky eater and he loves almost all of the Stella and Chewy's flavors (beef is his least favorite). I like that this is made in the USA, is not processed, and contains ingredients that are high in quality and protein, and don't contain fillers that are found in other dog foods. Their coats shine and they produce minimal waste (from unnecessary fillers that dogs can't digest) when eating Stella and Chewys. I receive fresher products from my local store than I do from Amazon (the fresher patties are softer and almost fall apart in my hands) but my dogs don't seem to notice a difference. It is pricey, but if you can afford it this is one of the best foods you can feed your dogs.
