Attractive and convenient

We bought this set as a replacement for another set (different, but unknown brand) that we have had for about 10 years. It is very attractive and I like the fact that the button to grind is on the top. The ones we had chose to place the button on one side and it frequently got pushed accidentally pushed and made a mess. The grind size (fine to Coarse) is easily changed, which is a relief. We could never seem to vary one of our previous grinders - it seemed stuck. I like the light, too. Very helpful to be able to see how much you're putting on! I looked at "gravity" grinders that were offered, but know from experience that I wanted more control than a gravity grinder can offer. Also, this new set has a lovely acrylic tray (as well as caps to put on if you need/want them - I don't think I'll use them unless taking the grinders on a picnic, which is doubtful) that will keep any extra grinding remains contained and not spreading out on my countertop. Also, I like the fact that these require just 4 AA batteries (so, 8 in all), rather than 6 AAA (or 12 in all) as in most electric grinders. I'm very pleased with our purchase! Update: we just bought 2 more sets of these for our son and (almost) son-in-law who love to cook! They were stoked!

Great tool in the kitchen

I really have enjoyed using the battery operated Salt and Pepper set. It is absolutely great for cooking as I can add the spice while stirring. I got this product in late 2016 and have been using it with great success until a few days ago when one of the units literally split open between the clear plastic and the chrome piece while I was using it. I tried calling customer service but got a recording in another language and could not leave a voice mail. But, I found an email on the paperwork, sent them an email and they promptly replied and are sending me a replacement. That is great customer service! I am so happy to know a replacement is coming because I have truly missed using it. Thanks Epicure!

A better quality peppermill

Excellent quality...I have previously owned three other brands of electric pepper mills. These are much better quality than the other units available. The stainless steel finish is attractive. The included tray is a nice touch that when placed on the table catches any stray falling salt or pepper. A weak point in some other brands of these battery operated grinders are where the contacts for the lights are in the lower section that either are prone to break or fail causing the light to go out. The Latent Epicure design does not have this problem and has a well designed spring type contact on the lower portion that is more durable. The Latent Epicure design is also easy to fill. The battery compartment is totally separate from the section that holds the salt and pepper. The top section has an easy to remove top cap that allows access to a separate battery compartment without disturbing the compartment that holds the seasoning. The adjustment knob and the grinder portion are also well made. I have been very satisfied with these and purchased two more as gifts. They are also a good conversation piece at dinner parties.

Great s/p mill along with fantastic customer support !!

Let's face it- in today's world the perfectly made product does not exist, you will get a defect or two and that is where customer service comes in. Without a doubt the customer service (Latent Epicure) is pure perfection! I received my s/p mill set on Sat. 25th with one of the grinders having a defect. I emailed James (owner of Latent Epicure) that evening and within hours I got a response from James saying he will send me a replacement mill and I will receive it on Aug. 28 (Tuesday). Well, comes Tuesday (today) here comes my replacement mill and like the other grinder, it works perfectly! These are great grinders, that work extremely well, use 4 AA batteries unlike many other grinders that use 6 AAA batteries per grinder, has a light that shines on your food to see amount of salt or pepper you are applying, a easy to use fine/course adjustment for the salt/pepper mill. Add to this the grinders come with a black rubber cap to place on the bottom so as no moisture will get into the mill! The set also comes with a plastic holder (nice touch) to place both grinders in. For a great set of battery operated salt/pepper grinders and a NO. 1 CUSTOMER SERVICE department, buy the LATENT EPICURE brand. You will not be disappointed ! UPDATE: Dec. 22 I had a slight problem with one of my mills the other day (Dec. 15 2018). I wrote James about it, and 5 days later I had a replacement mill in my hands! This is a Customer Support that is second to none!!!

Reasonably Priced Salt and Pepper Grinder - Great Quality

I was house sitting for my neighbor and she had a set of grinders similar to this. I looked them up and they were $75 each, so I kept looking and found these for less than half that for both salt and pepper shaker. They work just as well or better than the more expensive ones. I love that these came with a little tray. They do not leak but I prefer to put them on something rather than right on the counter. They take 4 AAA batteries each and it was easy to put the batteries in. I checked out the adjustment for courseness and it's easy to get a multitude of settings. I suggest looking at it before you fill it so you understand how it works. Just turn the thing in the direction you want. You can keep twisting it further than the little guides. Those guides just show you which way to twist to get course or fine grind. Both of these are identical and work great. To top it off there is a nifty light to help show how much you are adding to your food. I am so enthralled with using these that I can not wait to have something to add salt and pepper to. great quality stainless steel compared to other brands

Absolutely love these salt and pepper mills. Bought a similar set off HSN Wolfgang Puck brand and his doesn't come close to the quality of these ones. The batteries are very easy to put in to the upper compartment. The led lights work great and they also come with caps on the bottom of them. Also, included is a tray for them to sit in. Very pleased with this purchase and I hope they last for a long time. I put sea salt in one and peppercorns in the other. Used a funnel to fill them and that saved me a lot of mess to clean up.

Excellent Product backed by Excellent Customer Service!

I purchased this product as a father's day gift for my dad after he had mentioned wanting one. I decided on this product over the competition for the following reasons: -Many of the other options take six batteries per dispenser, this model only takes four -The large clear window makes it easy to see current capacity -The actual volume for holding salt/pepper looks larger than other models -The refill opening is large and easy to pour into -The power button is large and conveniently placed. -The tray and caps are a nice bonus. When the item first arrived, one of the dispensers was defective in that the fine & coarse knob would tighten when pressing the button, preventing the dispenser from grinding properly. I contacted Latent Epicure and received a reply from the owner the same day. He was apologetic and sent a replacement shaker via rush mail. The replacement arrived in two days and worked perfectly. The occasional defect in a product is to be expected, but when it's backed with excellent customer service like what I've experienced with Latent Epicure, you know you have nothing to worry about. In conclusion, this is an excellent product backed by superb customer service, and I highly recommend it.

First batteries corroded as seal was not very good. Read the update as well.

Loved these for about a month, then the batteries corroded. Thought it was just the batteries, no big deal, changed them out for new ones. And within a few weeks the new ones also corroded. It’s happened over and over again now. I think the seal on the salt and pepper shakers is not very good. So if you keep them anywhere near your food when you’re cooking, moisture gets in them from steam. If I hadn’t already had some of these, much more expensive ones, I might think this is normal and that maybe I should keep them away from the food. However, I have had some of these for several years, and it’s not normal. The ones I had before were $75 and I just didn’t think I needed to spend that much seeing there were several much less expensive ones on Amazon. And it would be terribly inconvenient to play some somewhere else in my kitchen away from the cooking area. Plus they would still probably do it as you hold them over food cooking to salt and pepper. ***Update- The company has contacting me and has said this situation has not occurred before with these salt and pepper shakers. They are sending me replacements. I'm super optimistic that these will be great! I'm changing my one star to a three as I think it's a great company for them to care enough to try to make things right. I never thought about contacting the company to be honest. Only saw that my window for return was no longer open. I will give an update in several more weeks after I receive the new ones and see how the batteries do over the coarse of time. Update: Oct. 9 Battery seal is working great with the new set the company sent me. They work great!!!

Great product, great service & company

UPDATE: I had a minor crack in the lid of the plastic (it still works fine) told the company and they replied ASAP to send a new one. Having family over for thanksgiving, they all love it and have now ordered a set for them. This is the grinder set you want & need!!! I always like when a company emails and tells you about themselves. This product arrived and I was going to return it. Sent a reply email with a question and got a quick reply. Learned the grinders are ceramic and very tough (I thought it was plastic) Put in peppercorns... Grinds great Put in medium pink rock salt... Rips it up! The light is bright. Button on top so you don't accidentally press it. Had friends over, they loved it and ordered on that night. Thanks for being a small company that cares and has a great product that does what it says!

I bought these as gifts. These battery operated spice mills are made by many different (usually Chinese) companies, and generally similar. There are some diffences. Most do not include batteries. Since I was gifting some people, naturally it is important to me to make sure that they work. So I filled one with Himalayan Pink Salt; the other with a rainbow peppercorn medley. Then added 8 Amazon Basics AA alkaline batteries (4 per mill/ grinder). The battery compartment is separate from the basic body of the grinder (a nice touch). Many others require taking the unit apart like when filling the spice reservoir. Once reservoir is about 80% full, it is easier to reassemble than many of the others. These also have clear markings on the bottom of the unit for adjustment of how fine or coarse you want. These come with caps on the bottom to keep the salt, pepper, or other spice from spilling traces on wherever it is you are placing them. They also come with a holder to keep them together. These are among the more expensive units. I cannot attest to actual use of these spice grinders because I gave them as presents.
