Just what I needed

I was surprised to notice the condition of the tailgate cables on my 2004. One was broken and the other heavily rusted. I quickly ordered these and installed them. Just takes a few minutes. I now have confidence in my tailgate again! Time will tell how well they hold up but right now I am very happy with these cables.

They work

Time will tell whether or not these hold up well but they installed easily and I drove my 4 wheeler up into the ramp with them installed and they held. The tailgate dips down a little lower than it used to though.

you need to buy this

These are tough and durable. They are quick to install and it is just about 1/4 inch longer but that might be due to 11 years of rusting on the original factory part. If your truck is over 6 years old you need to replace these straps. I found out by luck that even though the vinyl looked great the cable was rusted through at the bend that forms when the tailgate is up.
