I like the street chrome because it’s already “scratchy” so when you (inevitably) scratch it more you can even tell. If only I could keep from losing these darn Zippos. I seem to buy one a year. I don’t buy fancy Zippo lighters for actual use as I lose them too often. They do have a lifetime warranty, but the street chrome is so cheap anyway that you’d pay just as much to ship it as you would on a new one. I’m not a Zippo collector and couldn’t care less about the date on the bottom.

I collect zippo lighters for hobby and doing flipping, lighting tricks. I saw this armor lighter and wanted it for my collection. Of course I wanted super shiny chrome for the brilliant shine and good grip when doing tricks. I can say this lighter is way different than the regular zippos. It is much heavier and the distinct clink sound when opening the cover sounds different. When I opened the cover and pushed the sides together it doesn't bend and give like the regular zippos. The walls are thicker than the regular zippos and it feels heavier. I didn't do much tricks on this one because it feels very heavy and in the past I broke a couple zippo covers. Since the cover on this one is heavier I was thinking it might fly off easier with the heavy weight. This armor series is very nice and durable and has a nice bulletproof name to stand behind it. You will be happy with this strong lighter. I bought a regular chrome zippo also. Side by side comparison you can see the difference in thickness when opening the lid to look at the wall thickness. Two very different clink sounds when opening. I use the regular one for my tricks. It's also cheaper than the armor. Just by looking at it closed they look identical until you hold it and feel the weight difference and open it up. Chrome shows fingerprints and smears a lot from the oils on your hand and will show scratches easily. Unlike the brushed steel that is slippery when gripping and doesn't have that brilliant shine that the chrome has. You could probably use the chrome zippo to signal for help out at sea or stranded hiking its so shiny. Very nice zippo!

just used this today - went to the cemetery to visit my parents and being of chinese descent we burn alot of "offerings"... that is we give our deceased loved ones money and material things for the afterlife by burning paper representations of it anyhoo... anyway i had a very mini butane torch and it was a hassle refueling it plus it was temperamental but it would go out on a windy day - also tried kitchen butane lighters and regular bic-like butane lighters but it would go out with the slightest breeze. so i bought a zippo 'windproof' lighter for these occasions - and this did the job. it wasn't hurricane windy but it was windy enough that i would have had trouble with the aforementioned various butane equipment. broke out my new zippo fueled up the evening before and it does as advertised - lit my incense - it stayed light even when the wind blew in various directions - it was on for a good 3-4 min without any trouble. lit the candles as well. i chose this particular 'design' brushed chrome because nothing is as elegant as an understated zippo and it's well made. and it's made in the USA. the missus approves too -- so happy wife happy life. i don't smoke ... but when i burn offerings i use a zippo.

Classic ZIPPO quality. Proudly made in USA. A pattern virtually unchanged since the 1930s, backed by a lifetime warranty that they actually honor, no questions asked. The Amazon photo is a little misleading--the photo shows a 'blue'-ish matte tint and the scratches appear deeper and more pronounced in the photo than they really are. The 'Street Chrome' is actually a brightly polished mirror-chrome which has been lightly scratched in all directions, as if in a tumbler. It looks exactly like any mirror-polish chrome ZIPPO after it's been in your pocket for EDC carry along with keyring, coins etc for a couple of years. So, additional actual pocket wear and routine scratches won't show. ZIPPO also offers a 'Satin Chrome' finish which is like a solid, evenly sandblasted flat matte in a light grey. Check that model out. Solid 'click'. Feels good in the hand. All lighters in the USA are by law shipped 'dry' (without fuel), so you'll want to buy ZIPPO or Ronsonol brand lighter fluid from any drugstore or WalMart near you. Instructions come with your ZIPPO and there are tons of useful how-to's on youTube, the ZIPPO website and on the various online Lighter Forums. Lighter fluid (naptha, and not the same as "charcoal lighter fluid") gradually evaporates over a couple of weeks or so out of any lighter (even if not used) and will need refilling. New owners are sometimes surprised to learn that they can't just drop this in a drawer for 6 months like any disposable Bic lighter. So a Zippo is not what you want to leave inside your long term emergency evacuation bag --the Bics are a better choice for any standby kit. You CAN reduce evaporation about 50% by storing the ZIPPO in a ziplock freezer bag--YMMV. This is a great, useful fun retro item and a beautiful piece of Americana to own. Also check out the Street Chrome, Black Crinkle, Camo, Olive Green Matte and 1941 Replica models. Prices for ZIPPOs on Amazon can fluctuate wildly, but are usually less than you would pay at a smoke shop or retail outlet. Classic ZIPPO, fire in your hand, what's not to love? Hope this is helpful. Happy 'clicking', everybody.

I recommend keeping in mind that polished chrome will show up fingerprints BAD. It looks better online, but in real life, brushed looks better (this is even more true w/ brass). Also, I dont recommend getting Zippo w/ artwork on it if you plan on using it everyday... most of that crap runs off unless you get something that's etched into the metal, and the matte isnt quite as bad about this. I once bought a solid silver zippo and did polished over brushed, and returned it because I couldnt tske constant finger staining on finish...same thing happened when I got a polished brass one...it happens. Take good care of wick, only cut/pull it twice, and use zippo flints. Ronson lighter fluid is fine. If Zippo made water, I would drink it. This is perhaps the most consistent American manufacturer of anything ever. Snap-On, Fluke, whoever... no one is as high quality as Zippo.

The best lighter in the world and still made in the USA. It is worth purchasing just to support a manufacturer that still chooses to manufacture his products at home. A great company. I also have a Zippo money clip, tape measure and pen. I support companies who still manufacture here instead of sending it to China. Thank you Zippo and I hope you are around for another 100 years.

This is an awesome little lighter. I've wanted a Zippo for a long time and decided to buy this slimmer version so that it would fit in my pocket or bag better. I actually expected it to be thinner than the original size Zippos, and was surprised at how small it is. Not small in a hard-to-handle way, but more narrow all around. It really is a great size for your pocket, or for people with smaller hands, but it's still just as easy to handle as the original size. And of course it has that infamous Zippo high quality. It's easy to fill, easy to handle, and an overall excellent lighter, especially for this price.

A lot of people giving one stars saying that it will not light don’t realize that you need to buy lighter fluid SEPARATE as it clearly states in the description. I definitely recommend even if you don’t smoke. It’s very stylish and fun to do tricks and play around with even. Unfortunately I dropped the lighter while it was opened and the cap got misaligned and wouldn’t close all the way. But I fixed it by taking ojt the insert and bending it back. It still sometimes closes with a very slight gap though. But other than that it came in perfect condition with very nice packaging.

I ordered a handmade Zippo belt buckle holster on Etsy from RT Fabrications. I was concerned it would not fit but it does perfectly. Zippo lighters are a big hobby for me, I have about 25 of them, some with very nice paint jobs and love to collect them. I love the smooth finish brushed zippo however as its not very "noticeable" its plain brushed finish when wearing it as i do in the buckle is more aesthetic rather than having a red or black Iron cross on my waist. This plain finish zippo is probably the only one I like to wear this wear. Cant beat the quality of a zippo!

The antique silver finish is exceptionally beautiful in person, almost giving a crystalline look to the metal surface. This is now my second favorite lighter just behind my vintage brass finish Zippo Armor case because of the unique aging process of brass. I love that the Armor case has the manufacturing information cleanly set into the bottom without the deep inset stamping. It makes the lighter have a smooth and perfectly rounded feel. The extra weight of the Armor case feels so nice. I always pair these cases with a Thunderbird torch insert from Vector so they are butane torch lighters instead of classic fuely Zippos with that awful smell and leakage problems, no lighter tricks though.
