Our, then, 18 month old son found himself magnetically pulled towards this set at a local museum's discovery area. We got his his own set at 20/21 months of age, and for MONTHS now, he's playing with them almost daily. We've had this product for about 5 months now, and both my husband and I consider this set to be one of the best toys we've bought for him. We started him out with chains of orange and green pieces pre assembled (by us) so that he'd learn how to put the gears into the little pegs. Eventually we started making the process harder for him by making smaller preassembled pieces (e.g. shorter chains first then eventually just orange and green piece-pairs preassembled). After 5 months of use, now even if we leave them all completely disassembled, our son seems to be able to put the pieces together to create whatever it is he wants. Just the other day he proudly showed us a "double bus" (i.e., double decker bus) --- two rows 3 gears all connected together. He still isn't able to 100% push all of the pieces tightly together, but even then (surprisingly enough) the pieces don't just fall apart. Yes, they do stay together better when t hey are tightly pushed in, but this toy has been seemingly designed with children who naturally are weaker in strength and dexterity in mind. It's great. I would recommend this toy to anyone who is interested in hearing me rave about it.

My 2 year old son LOVES this. It is easy to put together and he loves to watch the gears turn in different directions. I only wish I had gotten the one with more gears in it.

My two and a half year old grandson loves anything he can build something with and then can use his toy tool set to fix. This is perfect for both. He has always been curious about how things work. He likes to put things together and then take them apart. This toy certainly spurs his imagination.

I’m a preschool teacher, and we use these in our classroom. They get played with often. Older 3yos and 4yos seem to handle them better and stay engaged longer.

Stimulating creativities. My 5 yr old grandson loves it. Keep creating new designs. The moving action stole his attention for hours.

I bought this for my nieces and nephews to play with when they came over - I whole-heartedly endorse an intellectual challenge! It's been a hit with everyone so far, including the adults! For kiddos with little patience, it may take some encouragement or instruction.

He has a thing for gears. Loves to build things. Was the perfect combination. And he is only 3! He likes to see things working and this is perfect for him.

My 4 yr old nephew loves this gear toy. He can build in 1 layer flat on the floor. Some gear sets only show building in horizontally, which is way less fun. What he likes the best is to build upward as high as he has pieces. With this set, building vertically is an added dimension of fun.

Bought for our 5 year old but we’ve had friends from 2-12 enjoy building things. Adults have had fun too. We may purchase another so we can build bigger creations

I purchased this set for my grandson for his 5th birthday. He loves building type toys so I thought this would be a good match. I was correct. He is enjoying finding all the ways they can fit together and is very intrigued by turning the crank on one end and watching them all turn. I do wish it came in some sort of storage box though.
