Foot pedal and easy changing make this the best bet
This is my favorite. I have a diaper genie as well and like this SO much more. The foot pedal makes it easy to open when you're holding a baby. The storage capacity is great and has been especially appreciated when friends with babies have come to visit and there are two diapered babes in the house. I also love that the front swings open to take the used diapers out. Much easier than the diaper genie that has to fold in half.

Stop complaining! This diaper pail is really great!
I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this. I understand it's probably different than the model before and change is hard, but it's still a great diaper pail. Some of the reviews complain that the sealing mechanism at the top of the bag doesn't seal after there are a few diapers in the container. You don't have the bag adjusted right. With the refill ring, you have to knot the bottom of the bag and make sure that a couple inches of bag ABOVE the knot is touching the bottom of the pail. (SEE PHOTO.) Then the weight of the diapers is sitting on the bottom of the pail and not pulling down on the closing mechanism. It doesn't waste any bag, because you're still only cutting off whatever portion is full of diapers and then pulling the extra down to use next time. Some of the reviews complain about how this does not contain smell. Without fail, little one always poops in the first diaper after I've changed the bag in the pail. I still put the poopy diaper in the pail even though I know it's going to sit there for a while before it gets emptied again. There's never any smell. When I change the bag, I put the used portion into our kitchen trashcan (where it sometimes sits for a bit, too) and then the trash just smells like the Arm & Hammer smell of the bags - not dirty diapers. I love that both the bags and the disc help control the odor. If you buy a different brand refill ring, that might be part of the problem, too. Some of the reviews complain that you have to empty the thing a lot. Despite the fact that I don't have any problems with smell, I can imagine the probability of the used diaper smell escaping increases with every day you don't empty it. I'm glad it forces me to change the bag every couple days so I keep the smell from becoming a problem. Some of the reviews complain that you have to push the diaper through the sealing mechanism. Get over it. You're washing your hands after you change the baby anyway. Some of the reviews complain that you have to push the lid of the container down after you put the diaper in. This is how the pail closes the sealing mechanism. Pushing the lid down allows it to reseal with more force. I would rather have to push the lid down and get a good seal than not close the lid and risk dirty diaper smell. This is my first diaper pail, but I use the one at my friends' house when I babysit their kids. They have one of the old school ones where you put the diaper in this little cup thing and then pull the handle down/up to transfer the diaper to the pail. You still have to push something down (lever vs. lid) and the smell gets through on that one. (Although there's no Arm & Hammer associated with that, so maybe that's the difference too.) Overall, I think this is a really great diaper pail. It's really unobtrusive and it might cost a few dollars more than its competitors, but if I had to go back and buy a diaper pail again, I would still get this one.

Dog owner product!
I wanted to wait before posting a review so I am sure about the experience. I purchased this because I was looking for a way to store dog poops. Yes, you read well, I live in a sparkling community and I couldn’t dispose of the poops, needless to say, I was not ready to store them in my garage (Florida) waiting for garbage disposal twice a week. So I installed this bin in a covered area outside. My dogs are both 85 pounds, it gives you an idea of the volume... Anyway, I took a chance on this. After reading multiple reviews, I understood few things : you have to make sure the bag is installed properly, with the bottom laying flat (about 2 inches). Second point: it is important to replace the baking soda on the lid (I do it every 6 weeks). Third, I added 2 small pouches of charcoal (just to be extra sure). Twice a week, the bin is fully cleaned while I change the bags. God! It works!!!!! Even when I change the bag there is NO ODOR, I don’t even believe it myself. The charcoal helps, because before there was a small odor. Anyway, this is my greatest buy and the only way to store my dogs poops. I might edit this review in the summer though, but it went fine since early September + October and now end of November.

Best diaper pail
Best diaper pail! I’ve dealt with the diaper genie before, and this BY FAR is wayyyy better! It is easier to handle, way sturdier, super easy to take out bag and put new one in, holds up better and is designed way better looks wise! We have had it for almost a year now, and have not yet to smell a stench from it! The diaper genie reeks after a few months, No matter if you change the bags or not! The little arm and hammer attachment disc is awesome and I love it! Super happy with this purchase!

Sturdy, easy to use, stops odors
This is a great diaper pail. The self-sealing system is really neat. It uses the motion of closing the lid to twist the bag shut so that odor can't escape! The Arm & Hammer pod is neat too. When it's time to change the bag, the cutter works well and is easy to find. It came with a sample of single-use "snap, seal, and toss" bags that I didn't like. The regular Munchkin "continuous ring" refills work great, and their lavender scent is very mild. My only complaint is that it is deliberately designed not to fit Diaper Genie refills. The Munchkin refills fit in a Diaper Genie, but (due to strategically placed bumps) the Diaper Genie refills won't go into the Munchkin. Pros: - Sturdy, solid construction - Stable footprint (won't topple) - One handed operation - Really keeps the stink contained - Totally one-handed operation Cons: - Intentionally designed not to fit Diaper Genie bags I tested this against the little Diaper Genie Essentials Pail, the larger Diaper Genie Complete Pail, and the Dekor Classic Pail, and it is by far my favorite of the four.

I'm using this to dispose of dog poo bags after ...
I'm using this to dispose of dog poo bags after we clean up after the pets. It really keeps the smell out of the garage until it's trash day. It appears to be a solid quality product, and it does everything it advertised. No complaints, and I expect it to last a long time.

Great product!
I researched diaper pails entirely too much and went with this one mostly because of the odor combatting powers and Im so glad I did! this was cheaper than a couple of options I was looking at and its GREAT! I have a super sensitive sense of smell and literally cant tell that there is poop lurking within this thing. I dont have an issue with pushing the diapers in like some people do (wrap up your poopy diapers first people!)- I actually appreciate that because they are tucked away and the bag rotates closed every time you close the lid- keeping the smells inside- unlike a couple other brands that just have a door that you slide open- when you slide those open the smells come out! this is nice and quality product, the door and lid open and close well. Inserting the bags is easy and removing them when full is easy enough too- I usually take my snap seal and go bags out on their last full day and squeeze a couple extra diapers in the bag that couldn't fit in while the bag was in because of the twisting at the top (probably the only even slight negative about the product) The Lavender smell is nice but not overpowering.

Great diaper trash
I love this trash can. I was a little surprised at first that the pedal only works to open it, and then you have to shut it with your hand. But since you’re changing a diaper you should be washing your hands after anyway, so touching the trash can isn’t such a big deal. When you shut the lid, it causes the bag to twist and close off so that odors don’t escape. And the odor blocking insert on the lid helps neutralize odors too. Even when my daughter started making smellier poops with the introduction of solids, this trash still did a great jobs of not letting odors out. The trash can itself came with a long tube bag which you tie off at the bottom after every time you change it. It’s pretty convenient, but we later switched to one-bag replacements because those are a better value. Both work fine. One thing I will point out though, is that you should definitely not try to overfill the bag to the point that you have to force the lid closed. It messes up the rotation mechanism. After one year of doing that, the rotating feature stopped working. Which is actually pretty amazing that it held up to one year of abuse. Now we got a new one and don’t overfill it. Pretty sure it will last until my daughter is potty trained.

but I'm so glad I did buy it
I was iffy about buying this after reading some of the reviews, but I'm so glad I did buy it! The diaper pail came with the arm and hammer puck, the regular tie bags & one sample snap and seal bag. The regular bags itself works really well and I love that there's the built in cutter when you open it up to empty it- makes things a breeze. The puck has a good scent and overall this pail definitely contains odors well. Would definitely recommend. The only con I think that I think some people might complain of is that the step is great but you still have to use your hand to close it. To me that was no big deal- the diaper pail is still great! But to some people who might be bothered by this- just a little heads up :)

Locks in smell, easy to use. DIY refills with regular garbage bags to save money.
Love this diaper pail. We used to use a regular garbage can until starting solids, when the smell was just too much. This container really does lock the smell in, and it's easy to use. The proprietary bag refills are insanely expensive and a total ripoff. You can DIY them yourself. Just buy high quality, Arm and Hammer scented drawstring garbage bags, tighten the drawstring, and feed it into the refill ring and secure it. Works perfectly and holds WAY more diapers and is cheap.
