I like it as well as the other Kindle Paperwhite E-readers purchased, although it took some getting used to to personalize it. Amazon offered this on a no interest payment plan, so I couldn't resist replacing my other one that had started to get funky and erratic in displaying stories on the screen. I got the white one, but now that I've owned both the black and the white, I realize I prefer the black color over the white. It seems easier to read with a black boundary to me. My eyes are 70 years old now, and need all the help they can get to focus, so that's just my personal preference. I love the ability to make the text size larger and the dimmer/brighter light background is helpful for reading at night. Shuts off by itself if I fall asleep, and that's a good thing. lol

I bought this to take with me when I travel so I can always have something to read. I connect the wifi to my cell phone hotspot to download new books when I'm on the road. Finding a new Kindle book is easy with this device and they make buying digital books and magazines easy. The only thing I'm not happy about is that they're changing the content of the books that I buy. I was almost finished with a book and while I was reading the last chapter, I got a message stating that the book was being updated. Great! SO, do I need to read it again to find what changed? Also, they keep changing the cover of the books. I'd prefer it if they left them alone after I buy them, but I guess that's what paper books are for. No one is going to sneak into my house and rewrite those classics on my shelf, but Amazon can do that very thing to the books in the cloud. All of that aside, this is an incredible device. The page turns are fast enough to not be distracting, you can choose to show or hide your progress at the bottom of the page. And the highlighting feature is really nice. I also like that I can highlight a word and it will bring up a definition. That's helping me on the more difficult texts. It's good to be able to go back and see the passages that you highlighted in your books. The Goodreads integration is a strong feature to me. I like being able to see what books my friends are reading. It's also nice to be able to see reviews and book lists on the device itself. Having it integrated with the Amazon store is a huge benefit. I'd recommend the Kindle Paperwhite to anyone who is looking for their first electronic reader (or in the market to replace an older model or one from an Amazon competitor).

The Kindle charger is 1 amp and 5.25 volts, while other chargers I had were .5 amps and 5 volts, so unless you already have one with the Kindle specs, it's definitely worth the extra $ to buy the one made for the Kindle so you don't ruin it. I would also recommend the Leminimo Slim Fit Smart Marble Case for Kindle Paperwhite with Auto Sleep/Wake - Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Case (Fits 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 Versions with Built-in Light). It's sturdy, nice designs to choose from, you can easily fold it back and it keeps the Kindle 'asleep' when closed perfectly. Really pleased with this version of the Kindle, great lighting and print, so easy on the eyes, and thank you to the previous reviewers who warned about the charger issue : )

I have had this paperwhite for about a month. I previously read on my iPad mini and before that a Nook. I love this kindle for so many reasons. (I got the ad free version). I love the fact that it has no distractions while I’m reading; no Facebook or news notifications popping up like my iPad had. The screen is so much easier on my eyes. I’m able to read anywhere, outside or inside, with no glare. I’m able to sleep immediately after putting it away at night. The color of my screen is not yellow like I’ve read about in some reviews. I do see the shadow, that some people commented about, at the bottom of the screen, but that’s due to the border not being flush. It does not bother me, and I rarely notice it. The battery lasts a long time. I read for 2-3 hours a day, and I charge it every 2-3 weeks. I definitely recommend this paperwhite and am glad I didn’t spend more on the other options. This one is perfect. (I also recommend doing kindle unlimited if you read a lot.)

I love everything about it! It’s my second Kindle. I had the first one out and decided to upgrade. I researched it before I decided on this one. I was not happy with the leather cover, it was cheaply made for the cost. It scratches easily. I bought them at the same time. So, yes, yes to the paper white, not so much for the leather cover.

This has got to be one of my favorite purchases so far! Definitely worth the $. For those people who read a lot and are thinking of purchasing just the Kindle, I'd recommend to shell out extra bucks for this Paperwhite. If you've never owned a Kindle and still thinking of buying one this might actually help you read more. I've finished a lot of books in a short span of time because of the convenience of not needing proper light and the handiness of this. I like to take it everywhere with me and read whenever I have to wait for something. Plus if you're like me and sometimes takes pauses to jump from one book to another, having a variety of books to choose from right there in your hands is just perfect.

Absolutely in LOVE with my Kindle. I debated getting one for a very long time but now I only wish I got one sooner. Reading is definitely more convenient, an with an inexpensive case I feel like it's safe enough to take almost anywhere. It's so small that I can carry it in my purse. I've had it for 2 weeks and have already finished 5 books I had been putting off for ages. I like to lay outside in my hammock at night and with this I can just read and relax. The battery life is outstanding. I'd highly recommend this product to the average reader and to the bookworm.

After my last Kindle stopped holding a charge, I started reading Kindle books on my iPad, but, after a couple of years, I found that I really missed the small, lighter Kindle device. I chose the Paperwhite because of its e-Ink appearance (black letters on grayish white background) with adjustable light that makes it better for reading in both bright sunlight and at night with the lights turned off. I chose to pay extra to remove the ads, and I chose the Wi-Fi version because I usually load my books at home. I do miss the old "Whispernet" that came with all the older versions because it meant that I could download books anyway; however, I balked at paying extra for something I might use only a few times a year. I was able to use the old leather cover I had for my deceased Kindle Touch, although the Paperwhite is smaller and thinner. I like having a cover not just to protect the device but also to give the feeling of a real book. Yes, it adds weight, but not enough to be bothersome. It gives me the flexibility of changing hands when I hold it without having to move the position of the screen itself. I love that I can select a few books before I travel and then have my choice of them without adding weight to my luggage. At home, I can stash a whole library in my nightstand. The Paperwhite is a dedicated e-reader, and that means that it concentrates fully on the reading experience, not on e-books as an afterthought. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

As an avid reader for my entire childhood, I sort of got burnt out in college. Now I am finally diving back into reading on a regular basis and having all of my books in my purse at all times...it's incredible. The battery is insanely good, I've had to charge it once in four months, and that was only because I felt like it - still had 50% charge. Super easy to sync with my library's ebooks as well. Highly recommend for any book lover or someone looking to switch off the TV and dive in.

This is a long review but I love this thing so much!! Lol! I have a Paperwhite that I purchased in 2014 & it’s still perfect; so much so that my 16 year old has recently started taking it with her to school. I have a black one (which I prefer but it’s probably cuz I’m used to it) and my dtr loves this white one. Still perfect. The OS is the same for the old one and the new one since they update periodically. Everything is the same from the inside to the outside. The cases for Paperwhites are interchangeable also. I highly recommend the leather ones that are Amazon brand. I have the persimmon one on my old Paperwhite and it has protected perfectly throughout the years and still looks almost brand new so I bought a new one in purple for my daughter. She absolutely loves her new Paperwhite!!! Also, I have chronic migraines and headaches and using a phone or tablet can definitely bring them on and usually does. I never get a headache from reading on my Paperwhite, however. I believe it has to do with the non-glare screen. The backlit screen has a brightness control with more than enough levels. I use 0 to 4 for dark rooms cuz I can’t have the light too bright and the light can be completely turned off for enjoying outside. I have never once had any problems reading inside or outside. Also, the battery lasts weeks on a single charge! I put off getting an e-reader for a long time cuz I absolutely love books but I’m so glad I tried this cuz it’s perfect!
