Thrilled with Touchstone 80013 Electric Fireplace!

We are so thrilled with our Touchstone 80013 Electric Fireplace. It's the best choice we could have made for our situation. We have solar so by going electric, we reduced the cost of running a fireplace and secondly, the metal screen provides a warmer, cozier look than glass-faced versions. We were able to inset the fireplace into a custom cabinet since the vents blow forward rather than out the top or sides. We couldn't be more pleased with our purchase and would highly recommend to anyone looking to go electric. Someone asked if it came with crystals, as well as the logs... yes, it comes with both the crystals and the logs so you have the option to choose what you like best. I haven't used the crystals so I don't know how it looks in the fireplace (I prefer the logs), but wanted to include a picture of the crystals so you have an idea if this is something you may prefer.

LOVE this fireplace!!

Love this fireplace!!! I’ve had it installed for 2 years and it still looks and works like new. It is beautiful and I have received many compliments on it. It was easy to install and I love being able to switch out the wood for the crystals for different decor looks. The heat function works wonderful, it can be used with or without heat. During a recent cold snap, my home heating system couldn’t keep up with the low temps, averaging around 6 degrees. When I turned the fireplace heater on, it easily raised our temp from 60 to 71, making my home comfortable. The glass does not get hot to the touch when heat is used and with 3 toddlers, this was a big concern for me. The glass face is also very durable as it has held up extremely well to my 3 littles occasionally crashing into it with all sorts of things over the years, not even a scratch! Overall, extremely pleased with this purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fireplace wall insert.

Great Fireplace

This item arrived on time. Item was well packaged to protect it. I purchased the 50 inch fireplace. The actuall size of the fireplace (burning fire display) is 12 inches tall and 45 inches long. The fireplace was installed into a false wall. Had to use 2x6 for framing in order to accommodate the depth of the fireplace. It can't be easier to install. Held in by 3 screws on each side. I did not use the screws it came with because the fireplace was placed over stone and the screws weren't long enough to properly hold. Simply plug into outlet and enjoy. The only work is deciding if you want to use the log or crystal rocks for display. And having to either out crystal rocks or the log. Easy control remote and easy to use panel on the unit. You are able to run the fire place without the actual heater. I purchased this more for aesthetics. I sure wouldn't use the heater to try and heat my entire house. It would probably take forever and not be cost effective. The heater is very quiet when turned on. You can feel the heater blowing about a foot in a half from the unit when running it. There is a timer to use with the unit. The unit has three color choices for flames: blue/Orange, orange and blue. Only wish this unit had more different light display. There is no sound when running the fire by itself. It would be nice if the unit had a speaker with crackling sound of logs burning. Overall, I really like the look and ease of using the unit.

Simple to install (after running a dedicated line to power it) GREAT tech support

I built an "Entertainment" wall in our master bedroom. This fireplace was the centerpiece. Simple to install (after running a dedicated line to power it) GREAT tech support. I had one small issue after months of use but it turned out to be the batteries in the remote (dummy!) The fireplace warms up our room and provides a very calming ambiance. My wife runs it year-round. Mostly with the heater off. We chose to use the "log" setup instead of the glass rock look. Who knows, we may switch it up in the future. TIP: I framed my opening to the EXACT specs on the product and it was a very tight fit. The tolerances are not THAT tight so do your self a favor and give yourself about and extra 1/8th or 3/16th of an inch all around to ensure easy installation.

Great purchase!

Buying a product such as this online, just from a picture, is a little daunting. So we headed to a local store to check them out in person. The one they had in stock that was the same size as this one cost $1500, and the flame effect was weak. The salesperson also told us that the heat wasn't good enough to really warm up a room. Since installing a real gas fireplace wasn't an option, we decided to take our chances with this one. Because it was being sold by the manufacturer, we figured if there were problems we'd have a better chance of getting help. So glad we did! Installation was very easy. The flame effect is very bright and realistic. It has five flame brightness settings, and to be honest I can't tell a big difference between them all, but am happy with even the lightest. I also like that it comes with logs or crystals, and you can change them out whenever you like. The heater works well on the low setting, but when we tried the high setting, it shut off after being on less than a minute. I emailed their customer service and they sent a new one to replace it! Very happy with this purchase! Update: It's been almost two years now since we installed the replacement unit and it still works great! We use it all the time, with heat and without. Definitely recommend it!

Great fireplace!

Absolutely love it. I am someone who normally rely on other's review especially for on line purchases. So I wanted to provide feedback regarding this fireplace. It's really awesome. We just installed below our TV and it looks great. It really makes the ambiance of the room. The heat range is just fine but we were not expecting to heat up the whole basement with it. Just the area right in front of it where our sofas are. I like that you can have it on without the heat so you get to enjoy it while watching TV. Someone mentioned the orange color in the backdrop. I don't think it's a bad color. In our case we have a stone wall so the color blends well. We just installed it about 3 weeks ago, so I can't tell much about the durability. I hope it's a long one :) I tried uploading a picture (I am not sure it worked), so you could see how beautiful it looks. I think the flames look very real,especially if you turn off the lights in the room. We had it installed by our contractor who finished our basement, and he liked it a lot too, now he wants to take pictures so he can showcase his finished work.

Gotta Have It

This fireplace is awesome especially if you are dealing with constructive space (2 x 4 studded wall) if so this the fireplace you want. It looks real the heater works just fine and the fan noise level is very low, it also looks like a 10,000 product. Can't say enough about this product and their customer service, I called with some installation questions and they were very helpful. It was easier to install then I expected it to be, just have to make sure you stay within the space boundaries suggested by touchstone. So hands down great product, everyone that comes over the house is over the top that it can fit in a wall so thin; thumbs up 100%. Boston Patriot

So happy we purchased this!

The house we purchased did not have a fireplace, but since that was the only item that was on our wish list we couldn't have, we decided to buy it. We wanted to have a transitional style, so we went for this electric fireplace. We purchased Air Stone, (Lowes), and a mantel, (Home Depot), and it turned out to be an amazing accent to our living room. We get tons of compliments, and it is so cozy! There is no thermostat, but with the remote control, we aren't finding it to be an issue.

I do rehabs and purchased this item (Touchstone 80004) to replace wood-burning brick fireplace. Last Friday, my contractors installed this unit, but the flame was very fading and not bright enough. It is also strange that contractors said there were no remote controller nor rocks, etc.. I wonder if we got a unit that someone has returned.. In any case, without a remote controller, we could only turn it on and adjust with buttons on the unit itself, which gave us not much control. Only weak flames (one kind) and the heat. I called and left a voicemail to their 800-215-1990 (option 2). I will update this review after I get a call from customer service. I can simply return the item back, however, if they provide support to make this unit work like the photos on Amazon, I will be happy. Today is 1/20/2017. I received a call from Brian/Tech Support. He was very professional and courteous. He asked me for the photo of the fireplace turned on, which I will send to him shortly. He said the unit comes with 1 year warranty and will help me to work this out. I am happy so far for his support. Will update once resolved. Today is 2/10/2017. I have received the replacement unit from Brian, and now the fireplace looks and works great! Thank you, Brian, for your help in resolving the issue. Good product at reasonable price.
