Life changing moment!
Bought them for my wife. Her words: “These things are amazing. I’ve always used aluminum foil and tried to make it try and do the same thing. These are life changing. They stay in place. The pie crusts come out perfectly toasted, not burned, and they are beautiful. Never going back to aluminum foil, these are great!
I'm not sure why I made aluminum foil shields for so many years. When you have several pies going and you're ready to pop them in the oven, this last step of folding three (or 6 or 9) strips of foil together is annoying. These shields are easy, you just set the size and drop them on. I use 9 inch glass pie "tins", and the larger size fit perfectly. I was actually surprised these weren't bigger, but in my case pleased because there wasn't a lot of overlap.

What a great idea!
I was so happy when I saw these. A problem solved! I like to pre-bake my pie crusts so that the crust does not get so mushy. If you do this, the problem is that the exposed crust around the edges can burn or scorch. I had been putting aluminum foil around the edges, but this was always clumsy. I used these for Thanksgiving pumpkin pie this year and the results were great. I might trim the inside by about a half an inch as this does extend into the center of the pie a bit. Otherwise, perfect.

After years of fighting with aluminum foil on the edges of pie crusts, I can't believe how easy this is and how well it works. Love the fact they are completely customizable for size. I was concerned there would be a difference in the crust under the overlap, but there was no difference. This is definitely a keeper!

Better than I expected
These adjust to several sizes of pies and work well. I was surprised at how hot they get in the oven compared to some other silicone items I have, but they work really well to shield pie crusts.

No more burnt edges!
Ovens are tricky things. Some overcook. Some undercook. These rings already have earned their place in my cabinets by allowing me to bake pies without charring the edges of the crust. The ring washes easily with soap and water, and they seem more durable than I expected. My only caution is to recommend removing them with a pot holder or fork because they absorb and retain heat quite effectively.

Glad I purchased these. They did stick to a couple of the crust, but that was okay. Most of the pies came out just fine. If your really picky you might want to go with something else. Do not try to take them off with your fingers they get hot. I would buy them again and would recommend as long as the person didn't mind their crust to have a little character.

Easy clean up.
I used my pie crust shield yesterday for the first time. It was easy to get on, and worked great. No overdone edges. It fit my larger pie pan and had no problem locking it on.
