Convenient & effective
I bought this as an upgrade to the square magstripe reader I had been using for a while. I was already familiar with the square app and functions, I just needed to integrate the new chip reader into my routine. I also purchased the charging dock based on reviews I read stating that the device turns off very often as a battery saving feature. The dock also seemed like it would improve overall ease of use. This chip reader links to either of my square app devices (one is iOS, one is Android) via Bluetooth with no problem. When I have the reader in its dock & plugged in I never have trouble with it sleeping at inopportune times as other reviewers mentioned. It has increased my customer satisfaction with sales process since I now can read chip cards and offer Droid/Apple pay. It is also easier for me to use than the little magstripe reader. If I am at a venue where I have no power access, I still use the dock/charging station because it positions the reader for easy use. I do not put the locking piece on the top of the dock, because I do have to take the reader out & wake it up if it goes too long between uses. The on/off button on the reader is on the bottom; it is covered and unreachable when it is in the dock. That is a bit inconvenient, but if it prolong the battery life I am ok with it. Leaving the locking end off makes the reader easy to remove when necessary. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. I think the combination of these 2 devices has increased sales for my business.

Love this fast for customer wait time and easy to figure out for dummies like me
Arrived quickly and works great. I am not that smart when it comes to all this new electronic/computer/state of the art stuff but this was super easy to figure out how to use. I practiced with my own credit card by using it all 3 ways it accepts payments. Super fast so won't take long for customers to wait. Much better than the paypal version which is so slow. And you get your money right away.

slower than I like.. going back to mag strip until this thing improves or becomes faster.
I've been using square for our business for about two years now. The mag strip is certainly much more convenient and faster. I understand accepting chip payment is more secure and requires more time for the payment to process. After using this for a day and processing a 20 of payment via phone and bluetooth connection, I think this thing can improve. This thing does work, but it is much slower than using the mag strip reader. Cell signal is very strong via LTE.. therefore, it is not this portion. Need to improve. I know there is a need to conserve battery.. but there should also be a mode where it is always connected and ready to use. It seems like to me at times, it needs to 'think" for a while before any light flashes.. After playing around with this some more. It is pretty quick when the phone and reader is kept closed together when the transaction is processing.. this set up cost around 4 dollars. Velcro and cheap phone case. Works perfect.

2 for 1!
The best part about this package is that each one comes with both a regular card swiper and a chip reader square. This is great since so many cards are now going to chip but you still need a swiper for regular cards.

Square contactless and chip reader is the way to go.
This worked perfectly with little set up. We do a benefit once a year and needed a new card reader that read both the chipped cards and the older cards. I know we will use this for other fund raising functions we are planning. This is even easy to use for those that are not very computer literate like myself.

Now I can accept credit cards with or without the chip and Apple Pay!!!
As a mobile spray tan owner, I no longer have to worry about clients not having cash on hand, me not having the correct change on hand, or the client deciding to purchase retail products that I have on hand. This kit includes the Contactless + Chip Reader to Tap and Dip, the Magstripe Card Reader to Swipe, USB charger for chip reader, manual and Square sticker. Setup is easy and simple. I love that there are no hidden fees, only a flat rate fee of just 2.75% per transaction. Also, love that I can input my inventory in as well. Oh, just an FYI because I wish I had known upon setting up my account, but new Square members can get fee free processing on up to $1000 in sales during the first 180 days by the referral link shown in my picture ;) Just passing along the savings I definitely recommend getting one for the small business owner!!! Update: Since my purchase, I am really impressed with how long the charge lasts and how easy it is to use. I also love, love, love the free inventory that Square offers.

The Artists' Choice for swipers!
Have used these at a lot of Arts & Crafts fairs. They work absolutely great! Even on shows with a few hundred other merchants nearby I have never had to wait more than a few seconds to get a good connection, which is a far cry from the several minute waits I often had to wait with terminals that relied on local wifi networks. In every case Square One transferred my money to my account by the next working day morning, gotta like that! Battery life is excellent, good for at least 40 cards between charges, but do be certain to keep a USB charger in your kit!

Some Sales is better than none! this is a must.
Pros: Increases sales Easy to set up (5 min or so) Easy to operate Easy to carry Records transactions w/ GPS location Sends Email Receipts to customer (if they choose so) Debit/Credit Apple Pay/ Android Pay Cons: Easy to lose/steal 2.75% charge per transaction Confusing Fee from above Confusing 1st time "mail Sample" Unknown/ Not Tested yet: Customer Service Printing Capabilities Durability Review: So when i ordered, it was advertised with the Square thingy + card swipe adapter. It did come with both, in box that looks more like the apple company made it. The products itself looks from apple. Quality seems good, sturdy, I just like the feel I don't have to worry of grabbing it too hard and break it. Set up is pretty much straightforward. You download the app (Squre Register-POS), you'll need your Business Account // Personal Account along with routing number. Zip Code, name, address, social security and what not. Pretty much what a bank would ask you. Once your account is linked, it will ask you if you want them to send you their product or if you already got it. I thought the product was going to be sent for free, but it was charging me another $50, so i wanted to cancel and it didn't give me that option. I still have to check with customer service about that. In the meanwhile i just put "charge me later" or something along the lines. To use it, open the app (Abbreviated as "Register" in the apps menu), You enter the amount and you can have the chip reader or the swipe card thingy be used for the transaction. The app will automatically detect when it happens. Then customer signs on the smartphone. enters email for receipt (or skips). And done, in 3 days or less you got your deposit ready for withdrawal. Customers already familiar with it, make transactions faster than cash, and I've notice sales have gone up, despite the 2.75% current charge (as of 11/01/16). Here is the catch though, whatever you enter in the phone, that's what the customer pays at the end of the day. Which means that if you sell a product for $1.00, the customer pays $1.00 but you will only receive $0.97 cents. So if your profit margin has to be $1.00 then you must sell the product at 1*(100+2.75)/100 = $1.03 In general: Sales = Price*(100- r) /100 where: Sales = your desired cash revenue. Price = the advertised amount in a cash transaction r = interest rate from Square , currently at 2.75% Generally customers don't mind the extra charge because of the convenience of not wasting time in going to an ATM. And if they use credit card, at least 1% returns to them, so it will be more of 1.75% charge. Pretty small for products under $25. So about this issue you got 3 options: 1) have a calculator at hand for every transaction you make, slow down lines, and increase skepticism in customer trust. 2) Leave prices as they are, and take the hit for using this product (Recommended by me, some is better than nothing) 3) Raise prices altogether to keep profits marginal ( customer satisfaction goes down, and maybe sales as a consequence). I think overall this this product is great. Customers like it when they found out we started taking cards. Sales transactions went up by almost 30%. Now most of the income is about 50% from online transactions. Apple Pay/ Android pay is big plus, even though they only constitute 1% of total online transactions.

A MUST-HAVE for the Square business owner.
If you are into the Square line of products as a business owner, you have to get this NOW if you don't have it. I am a banker by trade, and I cannot stress the importance of being able to accept the EMV/chip cards as a business owner. If you think it's just some gimmick by banks or acquirers and processors to charge you more per swipe, you're only partly correct. If you haven't migrated to the ability to accept EMV/chip cards, you are at risk for being liable for fraudulent purchases made with an EMV/chip card if you use EMV/chip ICC fallback methods of swiping the card instead of using the chip. Save yourself the risk of eating chargebacks due to fraudulent charges and put this in your store, yesterday! If you go the Square route of processing cards, be sure to get the dock to accompany this device. My only gripe is that Square didn't package this together the dock in the first place. Other than that, this device works flawlessly to accept EMV/chip cards and contactless payments.

If you're self-employed you should have this
It's really a good product it's really nice to have especially for chip cards the problem with running a regular card swiper is your not backed up if there is a credit card fraud on the customers end and the company removes your charge in your not protected. I do windshield repair for a living so I need a quality reader. And I don't want to be losing money I had one customer that called me and said they had credit card fraud and removed my charge the customer was nice to call me and tell me and pay me. But some customers would not do that. So that's why I upgraded to the contactless chip reader. It's really nice because I do mobile and people can pay with their Apple pay and Android pay. Customers seem to like it.
