A great chipper for the price!
UPDATE: I used this for a little more than an hour so far, and it utterly demolished everything I threw at it, even full 3"-diameter branches (made up of a combination of green wood, dry wood and rotten wood)! I have no doubt this will be my favorite power tool for quite a while to come. I've only used this chipper for a quick test, but it destroyed a 3" limb with no trouble at all so I don't expect it'll have difficulty with anything else I throw at it (as long as it's 3" diameter or less, of course). It did require a bit of assembly, however. Given the weight of this item (~125 lbs) and the fact that it ships with the wheels removed, it is a little awkward to get assembled. Once assembled and the engine oiled as per the instructions, it started on the second pull (very easy to pull, by the way) and ran very smoothly. The noise level isn't too bad, but extended use might warrant some hearing protection. It did come with some cheap goggles for eye protection.

Great tool! Updated 08/25/17
I bought the Earthquake model at Menards because this one is always sold out. Its identical to this one only it red and the bag and bin says earthquake on it. It has the same Viper engine, wheels, front kickstand and its even called the K32 chipper shredder. Anyway, I wanted to write a review because I have been looking at these for a long time and I had a lot of questions about its capabilities. -Setup: Not terrible but it will take about an hour to an hour and a half. Pretty straight forward. Basically you leave it in the box and break away the styrofoam packaging (which is really stout) to get the wheels and kickstand on. Then you can stand it up and continue putting it together. All nuts are locking which is good because it does vibrate quite a bit. I reccomend going over all the pre-assembled nuts and make sure they are tight. Take your time and this is not a bad afternoon job. NOTE: This thing is heavy. I could not get it out of my pickup by myself. Keep this in mind for delivery options. -Engine first start: Add oil and gas (I only use premium fuel with stabilizer: which happens to be recommended by Viper). Turn gas on, choke, and one EASY pull. It was the easiest engine I have ever started in my life! Sounds very good. I ran it for about an hour at 1/2 throttle to break it in and then 3/4 throttle for another hour for a little more break-in and then just run it wide open. NOTE: Mine came with 10W30 oil for break-in I presume but manual states to use 15W40. I am guessing this is to reduce wear from high heat of a stationary tool. -Function: This this is a beast for its size. It will chew up 3" limbs easily. Just try not to let them go into the feed too fast. It is loud so make sure to wear hearing and eye protection. It will make a pile of very nice mulch in a short time. It is not shredded super fine but a lot finer than the cheap mulch in the bags. And the size of chips is very consistent. - Wheels: Not the greatest but they are big so it transports pretty easily by hand on somewhat rough terrain (My bumpy rooty lawn). This thing is great for the price and it seems to be well built. For the money I cant imagine a better option. I will say that the one at Menards is 499 (in Ohio anyway) and Earthquake offers a 5 year warranty. No matter where you get it, I think you will be satisfied. As with all new things, time will tell about reliability. Update: 08/25/17 Still a great tool. Very reliable to date, blades still sharp. I have run probably 20 to 25 full tanks of fuel through it which is probably about as many hours so not a ton but enough to know it's a good machine and especially for the price. The only issue I have had is that one of the nuts that hold the gas tank on rattle off. I noticed this when I could see excessive vibration of the tank. I replaced the nut with a lock nut and have not had another problem. At this time I checked all the other fasteners and none were loose so I would say it's safe to assume it was a fluke.

Works Awesome
I have an acre property with about 18 trees and very large bushes and ground cover plants. This eats it all up. My Lantanas turn into very nice mulch we use for the garden. My tree branches turn into very nice wood chips I can use for fire or the smoker. Whatever I don’t use, fits in the trash very easily. No more dump runs every time I do some trimming!

A real work horse!
I've owned a smaller chipper/shredder for years, but on our new property my old machine was overwhelmed. The Tazz is a real work-horse. I received it several weeks ago and have worked it pretty hard every weekend since. It easily eats branches up to 3", and except for when I push too hard, it rarely jams. The 20:1 ratio promised in the product description is pretty accurate. We've reduced huge piles of brambles and branches to lovely small piles of mulch to spread around the yard. Also love that it's portable; we have six acres of some rough terrain and the large wheels on this unit enable me to take it just about anywhere I can find a flat surface. Of note -- with larger branches comes larger noise, so we did invest in a couple pair of noise-cancelling ear plugs for both the person feeding the machine and the person gathering brush. This one's a keeper, and based on its durability thus far I expect it to last several years of hard labor!

This is a great big-yard tool (when it’s not broken), which I hope the replacement unit won’t do.
But I did have a major breakdown after about 10 hours of use, a bolt holding the entire shredding head onto the engine shaft broke. My warranty claim was quickly handled at a convenient local shop I was referred to by Tazz. I love shredding firewood slash for garden mulch and this does the job, but it works best with items in the 2" or smaller size range. I use only the chipper feed. The safety shroud in the shredder chute completely prevents anything from getting sucked in. I wish it were easier to replace the two chipper blades. It's about a 2-hour project and the chipper blades DO wear out and need resharpening or replacement. AUG 2018 UPDATE: I’m now on my third muffler and second fuel tank due to vibration related part failures. Then this week came the total disaster - the engine shaft just snapped at the starter cord flywheel (see photo attached). This isn’t even the working end of the chipper. Tazz has been good about sending parts under warranty but they haven’t responded to my emails on this failure. The engine has a 5-year warranty. Will see what happens with a phone call next. AUG 2018 Update 2: Ardisam directed me to our local repair shop for warranty repair, and much to my surprise is sending them a completely new unit to assemble for me! That is really standing behind their product!! I’m looking forward to getting the new one and am hoping the first one and the troubles I had with it were just a fluke. Back to 5 stars.

No more hauling branches, roll out the compact and powerful Tazz and let it eat them up! Best equipment investment in years :)
Delivery/Setup Similar to what others have experienced, my Tazz K32 shipping carton took a little abuse on its journey from AZ to NJ. My unit was delivered with no signature required, so I found it outside my garage with the box and packing straps mostly intact, however two of the bottom corners were torn open revealing part of the hopper and one of the axle ends. This seems pretty typical with large heavy items (140 lbs) transported across country, but Tazz/Ardisam could greatly reduce issues by using some reinforced corner pieces inside the boxes rather than just typical Styrofoam shells. Unboxing / Setup As expected from the condition of the shipping box there were a few parts found to be “damaged” (cosmetically or otherwise) including the upper hopper, lower hopper flange, wheel axle and minor scratches on the painted green handles and kickstand. (See Attached Pictures) The bends in the hopper upper/lower are purely cosmetic and I was able to mostly hammer back in shape within reason. The bigger issue was the bend in one of the axles which would cause the wheel when installed to not clear and bind against the chipper body. After a couple careful (but heavy) whacks with an 8lb rubber coated dumbbell it was straight and functional once again. Testing & Usage So after about 2 hours of actually runtime so far, 1 jam and about 15 cubic feet of mulch made, I’m very happy with my purchase! The initial pull start takes a good amount of effort, but once it has been running less or no choke is needed to restart. The Tazz K32 also has a fuel cutoff in addition to an actual engine ON/OFF switch so double check both are in the proper position and the throttle is set in the middle before attempting to start cold. So far I’ve been running through mostly dry, previously fallen hardwood branches of Maple, Cherry and Pine in diameters of 1/2 –inch to close to 3-inch. The closer to 3-inch stuff (at least hard and dry) will start to really slow down the 212cc motor if you let it self-feed. My one stall/jam was due to letting a larger branch into the feeder which eventually jammed and stalled the unit. The sweet spot with this unit is really 2-inches or less, no hesitation, sucks it right from your hand and spits it out. The major downside of the dry branches is that any “V’s” wider than 3-inches will bring chipping to a stop unless broken and re-fed. It’s almost just easier to pre break all “V’s” in the branches before feeding to keep things moving. The top hopper was great for feeding in all the scraps left behind from the branch feeder, along with pinecones, leaves, etc. The top feeder does need to be fed at a certain angle or things tend to bunch up so I suggest having a sturdy stick to help poke the feeding into the units blades. Summary I’ve been researching and waiting to get a chipper/shredder since moving to our larger yard/house and the Tazz K32 will make my life so much easier. I was originally looking to get one of the Earthquake (Model #14267) chippers which are also well rated, but this new Tazz K32 fixed & redesigned all the flaws (plastic feeder/weak kickstand/feeder & hopper angles) of the Earthquake model when they built the K32 (same parent company). At this price point it is a no-brainer and a great addition to the shed if you have many trees and/or shrubs on your lot. No more hauling or dumping branches, just roll out the compact and powerful Tazz and let it eat them up! Hope to have many years of carefree use with this baby, as everything is built tough, solid construction with a great warranty. Best equipment investment I’ve made in years, thanks again Tazz! :)

Eats trees and leaves...
Just picked this up, but we've been using it pretty heavily on our 3.5 wooded acres. Mulched up several small trees and huge piles of leaves with no issues and a pretty easy learning curve. When using the hopper for leaves and twigs, less is more. Small handfuls will go down quickly and require less stirring with a stick to get them into the shredder's teeth. When using the chute for larger branches, trimming off the bigger offshoot branches helps, but smaller ones will just follow the main one down the chute. Be sure to wear hearing protection, eye-pro and gloves. We're very happy with the purchase!

Tazz Chipper
Great chipper. Took a little adjustment to get slide for smaller sticks to open/close correctly. This chipper makes very small chips and can quickly fill the bag. I found when inserting larger sticks into feed chute, it is not safe to stand in front of chute, as the unit has a tendency to eject/project a stick back out of chute. This is not cautioned in the instructions adequately and could result in injury if a person is unaware. Safety glasses/goggles, dust mask, hearing protection is necessary when using this tool.

ability to reduce large branches to mulch
arrived undamaged, easy assembly. Put it to work immediately and very impressed by reduction of material. primarily using it to reduce pine tree limbs and trunks that are less than 3 inches in diameter. Due to the amount and condition (wet) of the materials I'm feeding it I have dulled the chipper blades prematurely. New blades are pricey at about $35 each and two are required. Make no mistake this is a workhorse and will have paid for itself by the end of the week. Very pleased

excellent
great machine for the price and can't beat the the free shipping, I haven't run it too long but did put some Austrian pine branches thru it and it chewed them nicely but I was discharging into the bag and it seemed a if that process caused the machine not to clear the chips fast enough I will try it again minus the bag and perhaps discharge into a enclosure ( kite the big box it came in) I am just wondering if anyone else had similar circumstance. I would definitely wear goggles or a full face visor as it does throw chips. Assembly etc isn't difficult nor is operation if your basically at home with small power equipment its fairly intuitive. /For the average homeowner I don't know if you really need anything much bigger. I am a wood worker and threw some chunks of 2x4 at it and there wasn't a problem. If you have any questions feel free to contact me but I really haven't hit a snag except for the pine branches which you know are large and fibrous and well a lot of material to discharge.
