Our older HP printer of about the same level died. No way to fix it. This replaces it. It's affordable, versatile and duplexes both scanning and printing, a plus. The print quality is very good. It's fairly fast, and has an excellent printer utility on our PC. HP makes a big deal of their Constant Ink service. We highly recommend you do NOT buy it -- it doubles, perhaps triples, your ink cost. The ink cost per page is about as good as you can get these days.

I bought this HP 8710 which was advertised as an upgrade of the HP 8610 I had purchased locally. The old HP 8610 died and was out of warranty. So I purchased the HP 8710 as a replacement not really expecting it to do anything more than the HP 8610 but was pleasantly surprised at the option of easy sided copy, and ability to print photos from you iPhone, and printing of envelopes is a lot easier on this model. I also switched to the HP Paper because for all the printing I do, I found in the long run it is easier on the printer. The HP paper is truly a better quality and wrinkles less easily. That is a big deal to a balanced printer when you really start printing. As you can see by the picture, it is a nice addition to the desk set. The step by step 181 page on line User Guide made installing the unit myself a breeze.

I spent a ton of time looking for a new printer and gave up multiple times due to bad reviews for ALL printers. I have had good luck with HP in the past. Finally bought the 8710 with hesitation. I couldn't be happier with it. It came with standard cartridges that were actually full and lasted a long time. I also bought XL replacement cartridges. I weighed the color cartridges before and after (haven't run out the larger black yet). The standard color cartridges had about 10.5 grams of ink, the XL had about 28 grams. That is ink weight, not cartridge weight. The empty color cartridges were about 25.5 grams. So far after 9 months all is good.

I have had this printer for a few weeks now and so far I am impressed. I have printed from my computer, my laptop, my iPad, and my iPhone and wirelessly; It was EXTREMELY easy to set up. I literally plugged it into the wall and hooked it into the phone line (Just in case I want to fax) and I believe that was it. After that, I went and found my network on the printer and entered the name and password of the network. Then it was ready to print. I printed a class set (32) of full color transfers that came out AMAZING; I have printed double sided and I have printed fast text. Everything so far works great! For the price, it DOES come with the ink cartridges (1 of each color & black). I thought this was a GREAT deal!

Just about my favorite printer of all time. I own three versions:8710 and two 8720 printers. Bought one for my bookkeeper and my son. Easy to setup and good color prints. Jammed once but it was my fault for loading two different kinds of paper. I used it to print my restaurant menus. Wireless is pretty easy to setup. Scanner works well for converting invoices to pdf documents.

Awesome Printer! As an IT guy for the last 25+ years I have configured and repaired printers of all makes. I have always been a fan of HP due to their reputation and the vast amount of company support. With a wife in college and a daughter in high school we killed our last All-In-One printer that we have had for the last 5 years. What I was looking for was a printer that would print on both sides of the paper, wireless and network wired connection, one that could take the punishment of a lot of printing, and a some what manageable ink replacement price. Color printing was not a real must have nor was printing speed but that doesn't mean this printer lacks that. Set up was a snap for those that hate all the technical stuff but the printer is very configurable for those of us that like gadgets. What I really like is the ability to print from my smart-phone or tablet from any where in the world directly to the printer using an HP email account. All I need is network connection. I also like the service HP has that can monitor the ink usage and send you more ink when it is getting low. I can't count the number of late nights I had to run all over looking for a 24 hour grocery store because daughter waited until the last minute to do a report and needed color and the old printer ink was out.

Buying printers is always a pain, right? None of them are perfect, and everyone has horror stories. There are a few negative reviews about this printer but I'm happy to say that I haven't encountered much trouble in the past six weeks. The printer lost wireless connection twice in that time but rebooting it always fixed things... That's annoying but not a deal breaker for me. Functionwise it is amazing. I've been using 24lb / 96 bright inkjet paper and the results are flat-out spectacular. Scanning to PC works well, as does photocopying. I haven't tried faxing yet, but I'm glad to have the option because it comes in handy sometimes. The printer can also print from email which is pretty neat. I can be working on something on my laptop in a library, and have prints ready when I get home. It's not an essential feature but it's kind of cool. I'm not too happy about the ink situation. I subscribed to the HP Instant Ink program, so I know I'll always have enough. But my old printer, the HP c7280, was so cheap to refill I never worried about it. I don't like being limited in how many pages I can print a month, and paying extra if I go over. It reminds me of those old cellphone plans with limited texting. All in all though it's a great machine, at least as far as I've experienced. I recommend it. If you get it I hope your experience is as positive as mine.

I am very impressed with this printer. I've got my iPhone along with tablets and computers and laptops all sync into printer with ease. I also like the idea that I can print my receipts at stores using my printer at home. I also had one of my doctors email me my receipt after paying bill over the phone and they sent it right to the printer using it's own email address. The feature of having ink sent to my location to where HP sends me at a regular charge for when I am needing it is also a plus. So much better and cheaper than getting ink at the store. I got ink for this printer the day of but wasn't necessary due to the ink that comes with it is the same size as what comes out of a new package. Plenty of ink to last till HP sends you re-fills with a ink plan that fits your needs.

Okay, am writing this after this printer crashed. I used it for over a year, maybe longer. I loved the ease with which it printed, the ease of changing the cartridges, and ease of scanning things into my computer for records and documentation. Print quality was very good. The print head went out. The cost to replace the print head is at least 2/3 of the way to a new printer so purchased another HP printer. I have been happy with my HP printers over the past 6-8 years.

This item was just what I needed to replace my previous all-In-One printer, etc. Since I do some work from home, it is essential that I have a printer to depend on at all times. After it was set up, I tried it out and discovered it is even better than my previous printer. I recommend the HP Office Jet Pro 8710 for its ability to keep up with office work and my daily activities. I trust HP products because they have always been reliable.and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of an office printer for their home or business..
