Lower Blood sugar effects than rice
Good stuff.. You can grind it in a coffee grinder or food processor and use it as a protein powder... I read that in a health magazine.. Tastes good as a substitute for rice because it has lower glycemic load.. much lower I believe...

Good value!
My wife and I love quinoa so buying it in bulk is key for us. We've bought quinoa from other places, but this was a great bag because it was a good value for the amount we received. It arrived quickly and the 4lbs fit perfectly in our large container on the counter. If you're looking to buy quinoa in bulk, this is a good deal so I definitely recommend it!

Organic quinoa grown in Peru
Quinoa, pronounced "keen-wah," is touted by many as a "super food." It is an ancient food which was highly prized by the Incas. It is mainly harvested in the Andes Mountains of South America, primarily in Bolivia and Peru. It is currently also being grown in the US and Canada but, so far, North American growers have been unable to match the quality of South American quinoa. The source of this particular quinoa is Peru. Though it is possible to cook with quinoa t and use it in recipes as if it were a whole grain, quinoa is actually a seed. Many people on a gluten-free diet substitute it for wheat, and like most seeds, it contains much more protein than grains, which makes it an excellent choice for vegetarians. It is also on the approved list for those on an alkaline diet as it is considered less acid than grains. When quinoa is rated on the glycemic index, it comes in at a very low 18, making it a great choice for people who are hypoglycemic, diabetic, or on a low-glycemic diet to lose weight. 1 cup of cooked quinoa has this nutritional breakdown: 222 calories, which is 70% carbs, 15% fat, and 15% protein in this manner: 4 grams of (healthy) fat 39 grams of carbohydrates (5 grams of which is fiber) 8 grams of protein Quinoa contains folate (an important B vitamin), magnesium, phosphorous, copper and manganese. Quinoa can be ground into flour (I use my Vita-Mix to do that) and substituted for wheat flour in recipes for baked goods. The whole seed can be cooked just like rice. You use 2 cups of water per 1 cup of quinoa, bring it to a boil, and let it simmer about 15 minutes. When you see ring-shaped sprouts popping out of the quinoa seeds, it is almost finished. Stir it to make sure all the water is absorbed. Quinoa by itself tastes a bit bland, but that's actually an advantage in cooking as it can absorb the flavor of herbs and spices very well. It makes an excellent pilaf and a nice addition to a thick, hearty soup or an important ingredient in a veggie burger. You can also stir in blueberries or other fruit and eat it as a breakfast porridge. Over the years I have purchased several different brands of organic quinoa. This particular brand seems to be of high quality, and the taste is excellent. I would definitely buy this brand again.

Good Organic Quinoa - Try Preparing with Less Water!
I love Quinoa, it's my favorite grain of choice although it's actually a seed, and it's superbly healthy to eat! It taste great and we eat it hot in place of rice, as well as, mix it with veggies, beans, and things to make delicious cold salads. Healthworks Organic Quinoa is a white pearl quinoa from Peru and the package contains the USDA Certified Organic Quinoa, which is important for me as some Quinoa is heavily sprayed with pesticides or grown in soil from previously pesticide-sprayed crops. If you eat quinoa as much as we do, then you know price is important as this can get expensive. Healthworks is priced decently here and the bigger the bag, the better the price. Aside from this 2 lb bag, in the past I've also purchased their 5 lb bag which brings the price/per pound down a tad bit more. We will most likely purchase this brand again. This is a good quinoa which cooks well and tastes fresh. If you would like to make the perfect quinoa, fluffy with a tiny crunch, then I suggest to NOT follow the water-to-quinoa ratio provided in the "How To Prepare" instructions on the package that suggests 1 cup quinoa to 2 cups water. Instead, we find sticking to the basic grain 1:1 ratio works best and our quinoa always turns out perfect. Also, if you cook more than one cup the pot will become denser so add a little more water i.e: 1 cup Quinoa / 1 cup of Water & 2 cups Quinoa / 2 1/4 cups Water. Hope this helps. I am happy that I was able to purchase this 2lb bag of Organic Quinoa at a discount in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

This quinoa is pretty good, and you cannot beat this price
This quinoa is pretty good, and you cannot beat this price! Cook a cup of it according to package direction. Saute 3/4 cup chopped onion, 1 cup chopped carrot in a little bit of olive oil. Add two cups of the cooked quinoa and 1/2 cup toasted chopped walnuts and enjoy. This recipe is "delish"!

A great alternative side
Well, I had never tried quinoa and it even took me a while to even pronounce it correctly. I love the nutty flavor and it is so easy to make. I usually make 1/2 cup quinoa to a 1 cup of chicken broth and add minced garlic in a pan. Boil, then cover for 15 min and done. I like to add a cup of frozen peas 2 minutes before its ready. You have protein and veggies in one serving!

Delicious - not pre rinsed
Someone mentioned this was a fluffy or sticky quinoa but that's not quite my experience - it's a standard grain that changes depending on how you cook it. I use a pressure cooker 1 cup quinoa to 1.5 cups water, 1 minute & natural pressure release. Perfect every time. A bit nutty, the way I like it. Versatile. Great price. I rinse beforehand & that's recommended with this (not pre-rinsed). That's a slight pain honestly. I'll probably get pre-rinsed in the future. But the price is right! And it's yummy!

Organic quinoa
This was my second purchase of this productt. When I got halfway through my first bag, I started to panic and immediately ordered another 2 pounds. I have recently gone vegan and had never heard of Quinoa before, so was unfamiliar with it. I'm glad I purchased from this company. The instructions on how to cook it were easy to follow and it fluffed up really nice,, and I love the texture. I have no desire to try another brand...I like this one and I'm sticking with it. (When I have leftovers, I make a veggie wrap with it.and eat for lunch the next day..soft tortilla shelll, layer quinoa, julienne carrots, sliced red pepper, and sliced celery and a little bit of hummus). Delicious!!!

5 x purchase and soon more, no dentist bills
Never cook a grain before a good rinsing, repeat and look/pick out at what is in your strainer: 1. Rice strainer, good wash, sit for 15 min or so. 2. Rice strainer, rinse again, look for hulls and grit. Dump in cooking pot, add extra water, no measuring, just do it. 3. Cook 15 min, drain in rice strainer..... perfect! Most organic dry foods have 'stuff', so watch what you eat, take your time. Like your grandma did..... Yummy!!!!!

Good quality, great taste - will purchase again
The first shipment came with a hole in it, but Amazon quickly shipped a new one which was awesome. I cook it in my rice cooker which is quick and easy, but I think you can use a little less water than the suggested 2:1 ratio. Regardless, tastes amazing and comes in a convenient resealable bag for easy storage. Will purchase again.
