I originally wrote this review about a year ago and I still stand by it. Held up beautifully, still shiny and like new despite a ton of use. Here's the original review.... I don't normally write reviews, even for good products. Just don't have the time or inclination. However, this scoop is spectacular! The scoop itself is heavy with a very comfortable handle. It cuts through the ice cream like nothing. And if you heat it up? Cuts through like butter. Excellent, excellent product and amazing value. I would have paid twice as much had I known how great it is!

I have RA scooping anything makes me dread the task. What I love! 1. WORKS! a. I simply walk into kitchen and SKIP SITTING OUT ICECTEAM AHEAD OF TIME! b. Flip on my hot water kettle c. Grab scooper d. Pull out serving bowls PLUS one extra. e. Pour hot water (doesn't need to be boiling) into extra bowl.... dip scopper in the extra bowl f. Grab ice cold icecream out of freezer g. Scooping will be as easy as scooping butter!!!! I promise. 2. Small!

The routine before eating ice cream in my house, is this: While watching a movie, someone says, "Let's have ice cream," to which everyone replies a resounding, "Yeah!" I get off the couch, take the ice cream out of the freezer, pry open the lid, and attempt to scoop the ice cream out of the container. When the spoon starts bending, I leave it all on the counter, announce to everyone, "Gotta let it soften a bit," and continue watching the movie. At some point much later, someone remembers the ice cream melting on the counter and in an alarmed voice declares, "The ice cream!" as if some great catastrophe has occurred. I jump off the couch again, pour the ice cream into everyone's bowls, and go back to watching the movie. For years when that happened, I would remind myself to purchase a heavy duty ice cream scoop. Well, I finally remembered! I went to Amazon.com because I'm a guy and haven't shopped in an actual store for years. I looked at a couple of pages of ice cream scoops, and there it was...the Spring Chef Ice Cream Scoop. The picture itself says "heavy duty". I ordered it, and because I'm Amazon Prime, got it within 2 days. Our ice cream was, as usual, hard as a rock and I thought it would be a good time to try it out. I was very surprised at how effortlessly this rugged ice cream scoop dug into the hardened ice cream, but better yet, my hand wasn't sore afterwards thanks to the comfortable, thick rubber handle. Totally worth it! Looks great too! We can now have our ice cream and eat it too, instead of sipping it. (not really, but you get the point) Wish I remembered to purchase this years ago!

Bought a Good Cook Ice Cream scoop at the local grocery store (shown in picture). It was a round scoop with a lever to move a blade across it to help release the Ice Cream. Soon the blade came apart. The plastic handle began to crack. Bought a Spring Chef (shown next to the Good Cook Scoop). The Spring Chef hand is not bulky (unlike those no-stick, dishwasher-unsafe scoops. The Spring Chef handle is solid all the way from scoop through the end of the handle. The ice cream scoops are nice and round ice cream balls. Unlike the stainless scoop I had before, one doesn't have to dig out the ice cream. BTW: never ran the Good Cook or the Spring Chef through a dishwasher; just hand washed with soap/water. From the picture, see how much cleaner the Spring Chef appears...John B.

This is great. It's built very well. Seems very sturdy. Much heavier than expected. If this is going to break it would very much surprise me. Cuts through ice cream very well with no gimmicks (warming, filled with liquid, etc) and the ice cream releases nice and easy. If you want "pretty" curled scoops this seems to do the trick. I don't really care much about that but it seems to happen most times I use it without even trying for it. As for some people's cleaning/peeling finish issues: what the heck do you need to put it in the dishwasher for anyway? It's a dang ice cream scoop. Rinse it off under running water and let it dry, it's been scooping ice cream not a vat of Ebola. Seriously, I can't imagine needing to even put it in the dishwasher in the first place. Are you that lazy?

I’ve had this ice cream scooper since Dec 2017 & it has been used quite extensively. It has survived several ice cream socials at my kids’ schools, as well as our typical household use. I have been able to scoop rock hard ice cream, with some effort, and form professional looking scoops. With ice cream that has been softened or even a little melted, I am still able to form nice looking scoops. I like that the metal doesn’t freeze, like my Cutco one does. It makes dropping the scoops easier. There is a little wear & tear to the finish, but after a year and a half, it should be expected, especially if you’ve ever cut into ice cream with any ice layer. I’ve included a photo, showing the wear & tear. I typically pop the scooper into my dishwasher for clean up, but it would probably fare better if you hand wash it. All in all, no regrets. Will be purchasing another. Thanks!

My boyfriend put my old ice cream scoop in the dishwasher and ruined it--one of those that must be hand washed. I tossed it, and went searching for a new one. After reading all the reviews (and instead of getting the same old thing), I noticed that the most enthusiastic purchasers were those who had bought the Spring Chef Ice Cream Scoop. I ordered it, and WOW! It's true! This is the most fantastic ice cream scoop EVER. I've had two others prior to this one, but there is NO comparison. I have hand and finger issues--fused joints in three fingers--and this is absolutely the easiest tool to use--it glides right through the hardest ice cream. And, bonus, I can throw it in the dishwasher.

I am an ice cream fanatic! I never have any less than 5-6 flavors of ice cream at a time. It's my go to sweet option! But I'd been frustrated with not having a decent ice cream scoop to serve up my delicious goodness into the dish. I hated heating the entire half gallon in the microwave but often times, when I'd take it out and intend to only let it sit out for 10 minutes or so, I'd get busy or forget and the carton would melt! Not good! So I began searching for a better serving option. Also, I've had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists and still have weakness in both so I was looking for something that would be easier on my wrists. Lastly, my kitchen and all my gadgets are all bright colors! Hot pink, bright orange, green, bright blue, yellow... No black or red anything!! It seemed most ice cream scoops came in boring colors. Then I found a pink option!! The Spring Chef Ice Cream scoop looked like a fantastic choice! I read all reviews and then compared it with Sumo Ice Cream scoop. If the Sumo would've come in a fun, bright color, I probably would've chosen Sumo because I preferred the idea of a soft handle. However, since they didn't, I chose Spring Chef. I tried my new scoop out immediately! I took half gallon of frozen hard Blue Bell out of my freezer. There's a notch on the back of the scoop to remove lids from the containers. Honestly, sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't. It might be better for removing pint lids but I really don't ever have that size so I don't know. My point is, that notch is a nice idea but I didn't find it to be "the selling point" of the scoop. It was okay and a nice thought. When I finally got the lid off and started to scoop the ice cream, I couldn't believe how it just cut through the rock solid ice cream the way it was!! It was AMAZING!! 😊 I didn't heat anything up.. Not the ice cream, not the scoop. I didn't allow the ice cream to thaw before trying the scoop. After doing my research, I wanted to try a scoop that had a spade and traditional scoop shape combined. Seemed to be the best of both worlds! I believe it is! And it's at such a great price!! I've raved about this scoop to all my family and will be getting several for Christmas gifts!! I highly recommend this amazing little ice cream scoop!! Especially if you need something easy on the wrists!

This Ice Cream Scoop has changed my life. I have an ice cream problem. I eat a gallon of mint chip ice cream a week. My old Ice Cream Scoop was not up to the task after years of use and abuse. Enter the Spring Chef Ice Cream Scoop. It cuts through frozen ice cream and chunks of chocolate with ease. It has also increased the harmony in my household, maximized my Chi, and made me a virtuoso in bed with my wife. They should give one of these to Trump for his ice cream needs, and he will instantly do a complete about-face, stop tweeting and usher in an age of peace and prosperity.

I have used several scoops, even spoons. When the ice cream is soft, most all work ok. Sometime the ice cream is really solid, then you will bend spoons and the other scoops struggle, thats where this scoop shines, it has a large handle with good grip, has a good edge for pushing into the ice cream. The raised dimples help keep the ice cream from sticking to the scoop as it comes off fairly easy. Others have asked what its made of, in the description, it says Zinc Alloy, I, like probably everyone else would like it to be stainless. The only other place I see where improvement is needed, the handle is just pushed on, mine out of the box, can already move a tiny bit away from the metal. So really I would give it like 4.5 stars, but don't let that stop you from buying, it is nice.
