This is an excellent choice for someone who is just starting out. You will get many years of enjoyment before moving on to a higher level acoustic. Quality is very good overall, but you may need adjustment of action to allow easier fretting. You can do this yourself, but I recommend someone who really knows what they are doing. Sound/tone quality is surprisingly good and can compare to more expensive guitars. You may want to buy a better gig bag from the start, as the one provided in bundle is a pain to use and doesn't do much in the way of protecting the instrument. I am a beginner, who has now been taking lessons for about a year, and am still very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this Yamaha FG800 to learn guitar and play it everyday and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with it so far. Wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy playing guitar so didn't want to invest to much, at $200 this guitar is outstanding. I keep it on a tone rite when not playing and the sound gets better everyday. You really can't go wrong with Yamaha when learning a new instrument they are great to learn on in all categories. I've been enjoying playing so much I kind of wish I'd went with an A series ; ) the starter package and hard case are great to.

LOVE IT, I read a lot of great review about this guitar and bought it as my first. I just wish they added a "Leather Acoustic Guitar Strap Button" as you can't really connect the strap without it (I had to purchase one for 5$)

EDIT: Almost 3 years later and I'm loving this guitar even more. Have had zero problems with it, and it's sounding even better now than when it was new. My original review docked a star because the pictures showed a specific brand of strings. That's not so anymore, so it's time to add that star. --- Original review follows --- Have had this one for a month now. The FG800 itself gets 5 stars easily. For the price it's an amazing guitar that sounds more beautiful than a beginner like me deserves. Overall the value is still great for the bundle I received. The hard case fits perfectly, has built-in storage, and protects well (everything ships in it). The tuner and strap are basic but work very well. The DVD, cleaning cloth, and picks are throw-ins which offer a little extra value. Only docked a star (wish it could be a half star) because the extra strings pictured aren't the ones which came with the guitar. I actually like Yamaha's strings on this guitar, and was a bit disappointed when the bundle actually came with Fender 80/20 lights. Some folks might like the Fenders better, but it would be good to let them know what strings they'll actually be getting before they buy.

Received the Austin Bazaar bundle FG800. Was missing picks and gig bag. Notified seller and they shipped them to me right away. The guitar is beautiful and plays and sounds great. Action a bit high but easily corrected - normal for new guitar. Very pleased with purchase. Update one year later. I went to my local guitar store. I thought of upgrading to a Martin DRS1 or 000S1. But the timber and resonance of my FG800 sings at least as well as or better. I looked at Taylor’s and Fender’s and even a Gibson. All at $750 or even treble that cost and the Yamaha was as beautiful or better. I’m amazed. They didn’t have an FG800 there for direct comparison but when I got home I proved my ears with my Yamaha. Wow. What a deal. Maybe I’ll look at the FG850 in all mahogany to see if it has a different timbre to it. Again. Wow. Hands down for the sound, price and quality of the FG. 5/30/18.

This is an excellent choice for beginners with very good workmanship, pure and beautiful sound. The package includes almost everything necessary for a new learner. The fretboard is straight and pretty flat but comfortable. It’s better to replace the nut and saddle with those made of bone materials. The heights of the nut and saddle may need to be adjusted. I like this guitar very much.

I bought my guitar last week, had to travel from Mexico to San Antonio just to pick up the package. As I opened i realize the neck was broken. I tough about getting the hard case for better protection, but why do i need to spend more money on something it should be well protected at the moment of deliver. I went and bought the guitar, directly at the music store. Guitar is amazing. Great quality and you get an amazing guitar for begginer and intermediate level. Other than the bad experience of the deliver I would say I recommend the guitar.

Bought this as a starter acoustic and am very happy. I can't feel my left fingers as I type this but so far it has stayed perfectly in tune with the included tuner working very well the case is sturdy and has a nice cubby to store things, I really think this is the best starter guitar for the price you can find.

This FG800 arrived in good condition and is a beautiful looking and sounding guitar The action was a bit too high but a slight adjust to the truss rod seems all that was needed, and took me about one minute. I have no complaints and really love its rich full sound. Well worth the money spent.

Seemingly impossible quality, beautifully finished solid top guitar and accessories for two bills. A guitar this good shouldn't be possible at this price point.
