Outstanding
I waited to post this review until we had a chance to put the Knox Gear 48 Quart Electric Cooler/Warmer with Dual AC and DC Power Cords (Blue) to the test. We took this cooler on a 10 day road trip (5,700 miles) out to the midwest and it performed perfectly. I followed others recommendations as to plugging it in a few hours prior to filling it and also put already cold items in it. It was wonderful to have cold beverages and some other snacks available throughout our trip. We took it into our hotel room at night and back into the car as we traveled through yellowstone and many other places. Our vehicle does shut down auxiliary power sources when the vehicle is not running, but if your vehicle does not you should unplug the cooler to keep it from draining the battery. There were short periods of time where the cooler sat in the car without running and it continued to keep the food and beverages cold. We would add warm temperature items along the way and they become chilled thru our journey. If you are expecting ice cold be warned it only cools to about 40-45 degrees. But the fact we never had to stop for ice or drain the cooler was wonderful. If I had any complaint which is a minor one it disperses some heat while running but that's to be expected. It is very quiet and never created any issue for us. It cleaned up and looked brand new after a good solid performance. And the seller was prompt in getting it shipped out and delivered as promised. Nothing but satisfaction for us!

Worked perfectly for two full weeks
I bought this cooler for a two-week road trip we took with a friend visiting from Norway. When it arrived, I tested it by plugging it into the wall, and it quickly started to get cold. I didn't test it again. The morning we left, I plugged it in for half an hour, then loaded it with food from the refrigerator (we had our drinks in a separate, smaller cooler with ice). It then was plugged in, either in the car or in our motel rooms, 24/7 for the next two weeks. We did a lot of sightseeing, so we made many stops, which turned the cooler off each time. It started up immediately again when the car started. We never had any problems with the cables overheating (I checked periodically). It's very quiet, although in the car it developed a small rattle at times (I think it was the motion of the car because it disappeared when the car wasn't moving.) We got home yesterday, and I unloaded the still-cold food. There was some condensation in the bottom of the cooler, but after two weeks of running continuously, I wouldn't expect anything else. I am extremely pleased with this cooler.

Not only is it great for camping
This is so useful—a cooler that stays as cold as a refrigerator without ice! Plugs into a regular outlet or a cigarette lighter. Not only is it great for camping, but we use it at home, for example when we buy a frozen turkey and aren't cooking it for a few days. It defrosts the turkey but it keeps it from going bad until the morning we pop it in the oven, without filling the fridge. And its large capacity allows us to pack enough food and beverages in it for a 3- or 4-day camping trip.

The Dual Power Cords cinched it for me!
There is nothing I dislike about this Knox Gear cooler. We recently took it on a road trip and had it plugged in for five consecutive days. No overheating whatsoever. It also didn't put out much heat to speak of. We wheeled it into our son's house to use inside. It was great having an extra refrigerator to store perishables while we were visiting for Thanksgiving. I haven't used the "Warmer" feature of this unit and don't know if I will have the chance. This is a great cooler! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cooler for traveling.

As advertised! (Rare in my experience...)
Stood up to a 10-day car trip where it ran almost continuously. Kept my food/drinks cold, and was well enough insulated that I could use ice in the bottom to keep things cool when the car wasn't running. At night I would just bring it into the hotel room and plug it into the wall. Sturdy handles and wheels, and reasonably quiet. I only wish it had a drain hole to make it easier to empty ice melt water.

Cools from House, Car and Hotel
Planning a car trip and wanted to save time and money by bringing breakfast foods to the hotel. As it turns out, the hotel didn’t provide refrigerators in the room so this product solved everything. Took it for a shorter test run and this is what I found: I plugged it in while in the house with the AC cord and let it run silently for a short while to get cool. I didn’t notice it getting very cool so I was a bit skeptical. I loaded some food items and wheeled it to the car where I plugged it into the back of the car DC outlet hoping for the best. At the end of the 3 1/2 hour car ride (New England Summer), the cooler and food were nice and cold. I am VERY pleased with the performance of this product and would highly recommended this to anyone who travels.

Can't Wait To Go Camping
This cooler really solves a problem for me. Before now I had a super insulated cooler that was quite large that I would bring with me to camping. Even though ice would stay frozen longer than most coolers, you still needed to replace the ice every few days. Ice melts and food gets soggy. Not to mention all the room the ice takes up. I thought of getting a mini fridge, but they are heavy and what about the food while you are traveling? This cooler seems to have solved all of these issues. It is light weight, has wheels and can keep things cool while you are traveling. It is about the size of your average large cooler. Only difference is that you don't have to take half the room up with having ice in it to keep everything cold. There is plenty of room in there. I added some pictures for perspective. As you can see, I have two gallons of water in there, a pack of tangerines, and a dozen eggs. There is still plenty of room for more food. I am not going camping until next month so I did an experiment with it when I first got it. I put several items in the cooler to see how it would do. I did not let it cool down first before putting anything in there. I put an already refrigerated jug of apple juice, a room temperature beer, and frozen solid bottle of water. The directions say that it is not meant to cool items down but keep items that are already cold at a cold temperature. I checked the cooler a few minutes later after I turned it on. The walls had already gotten cold. About two hours later I checked on everything. The apple juice was about the same as it was when I put it in there. With the bottle of frozen ice, some of the ice had melted. The room temperature beer, however was now cold. Not ice cold but certainly drinkable. Had I given it more time I believe it would have gotten colder. One thing I love about this cooler is that it has both the option to plug it into a cigarette lighter or a wall outlet. Other brands I have looked into only have the cigarette lighter option and you must buy a separate adaptor if you want to use it in a wall outlet. I plan to use this in my tent. So now I can go on a long trip, I can plug the cooler in while I am driving. When I get to my destination I can transfer the cooler to the tent and plug it into an outlet. Other features that it has, two handles, one is extendable so you can use it with the wheels. It also acts as a food warmer instead of a cooler if you wish. I really don't plan to use it as a warmer so I have not tested this out. It also comes with a divider as you can see in the picture. Only negative you can even call it that, I wish the cigarette lighter cord was a bit longer. I will have to strategically place the cooler in the car so it can reach my lighter on the front dash board. I can always use an extension cord for the wall outlet cord. I received this cooler at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. ****Update as of 05/16/2016****** Well I just got back from two different four day weekend trips. I have to say that I am really impressed by the functionality of this unit. First of all, I can fit so much food in here. I purposely got more perishable foods than not since I have the cooler. Everything says cold and fresh. I really like the dual cords. I have used it both in my car on the way and when I arrived. My first location was a bunkhouse cabin. My second location was in a tent. It worked well with flying colors in both places. Every now and then if the cooler got really jostled, the fan would make a bit of noise, however it would soon quiet down. All in all I am so glad I got this. No ice, more food, light, wheels, handles, two different ways to plug it in. Love it.

Super impressed!
I don't generally write reviews for products but I have to for this cooler. We went on a two week trip and had the cooler plugged in for the entire trip, either in the car using the included cigarette lighter power plug, or in the room using the included 120 volt household plug. The fan is pretty quiet, although I would not wish to sleep right next to it, and the cooler is extremely efficient (we did not use the heating mode so my comments are restricted to cooling). I had plugged the cooler in the evening before filling the cooler for the trip and placed a frozen 1 liter bottle of water in the cooler to maintain cooling while the car was stopped (gas, lunch, site-seeing, walking dogs, etc.). On the trip home, which took 3 days of driving, the water container was still at least 50% frozen. This cooler is great and highly recommended.

Must Have Travel Companion
We received our first one and plugged it up to check it out before our trip... the fan was so noisy it was unacceptable. I had to pay $6.00 for shipping it back, but got the replacement and it was quiet! We took it across country with us in the truck; water, cokes, yogurt - it was terrific! It kept the drinks cold and kept the yogurt cold enough to keep from going bad. The handle and wheels makes it so easy to transfer from vehicle to hotel room. We'll never travel without it again - no ice and cold drinks, can't beat it!

Great Electric Cooler!
Oh, boy! Do I LOVE this cooler! It has a car plug and a wall plug, built into the top, so you can easily plug in anywhere. It is large and really does its job of cooling. It can be dragged on its wheels or carried with the side handles. We got this to replace an old Coleman electric cooler which had a tendency to flood and to ice up. This cooler stays mostly dry and has yet to freeze up on us. I am extremely pleased with the performance of this cooler.
