• VERSATILITY & CONVENIENCE IN THE KITCHEN: When food is protected from air and freezer burn, everyday meal planning is easier—double the recipe of your favorite dishes then store the extra portions for a quick and nutritious meal on busy weeknights, and spend less time grocery shopping when you buy frequently-used items in bulk
  • SIMPLE TO USE: Just add food to the bag, insert the open end into the FM2000, and the machine takes care of the rest—removing all of the air, creating an air-tight seal, and stopping automatically once seal is complete
  • STRETCH YOUR DOLLAR: Food preserved with the FoodSaver System and stored in the freezer can last up to 3 years, rather than 6 months, and it will still taste as fresh as the day you sealed it. And prep-ahead meals and leftovers stored in the fridge can still be enjoyed weeks later
  • NOT JUST FOR FOOD STORAGE: Use your vacuum sealer to store liquids and creams when you travel, protect important papers or photographs from mildew or possible water damage, create your own refreezable ice packs, and much more
  • SIMPLE TO CLEAN: Exclusively-designed, patented removable drip tray, which collects any excess liquid and debris that may result from vacuum sealing, helps keep countertops clean and is dishwasher safe; Cord Length: 24"

Have been a foodsaver user for years. I currently work away from home (often several months at a time) and wanted a small version of the one I have at home. I use it with generic bags instead of genuine FoodSaver bags (much cheaper) and they work just fine. I also use the jar sealers for Mason jars which I never do at home, and that has also been a boon. It keeps my food organized and fresh plus it saves a lot of room in my small apartment. I love using the FoodSaver because buying groceries for one person, one often doesn't have time to eat everything before it goes bad. This way I can vacuum seal portions of my food and store it much longer. Not only do I reduce food wastage, but it also keeps me from having to go to the grocery store as often.

I have been using this food saver for a year, since I got my sous vide unit, and it's still going strong. I mostly use it for bagging food for sous vide (which is often then frozen for another day), but have also put away leftovers that we weren't going to eat right away. After a large Christmas party we had pounds of pulled pork and pulled chicken left over, far more than my husband and I could (or wanted to) eat before it went bad. Now it's all cozy in the freezer in 1-pound quantities. The most fun I've had with it, though, was when a friend who had recently moved wanted some of the plastic grocery bags from the big chain in our area. (She said that the bags from the groceries in her area were just too flimsy.) I filled up a box and looked at the cost of mailing it. Ouch. So I folded the grocery bags up, stuffed about 13 of them in a flat(ish) pile into a big vacuum bag and vacuumed all the air out. I was able to put 35 plastic bags in a large cardboard envelope from the post office. My friend was amused!

Before ordering this FM2000-000 Vacuum Sealing System I read many reviews on other brands and vacuum sealers selling at a lower cost. A few customers who bought these lower cost VS Systems actually recommended this one. As is my habit with Amazon Prime products I pay close attention to customer ratings, number of reviews and read the reviews by customers who gave a rating of 1 or 2. I then read a few of the highest rated reviews looking for consistencies in the pros and cons of the product. For this item the high ratings out numbered the low by far. This is a really great little machine. If was the best packed product by the manufacturer I have ever gotten and included instruction booklet, 11" x 10' roll of bags you custom cut (Vacuum Seal with FoodSaver Bags' (most) precooked frozen foods ARE microwavable by cutting off a corner of the bag, this was a plus in my purchase of this machine!) and a few other accessories. Rather than give you step by step instructions, my advise is......PLEASE read the excellent instruction book by FoodSaver before operating this machine along with the troubleshooting tips. Understand and operate it exactly as the manufacturer advises and I suspect you will like this product as much as I do. The price was well worth it because in the long run I believe it will pay for itself. I am single and often have far too much when it comes to meat and other products that come in bulk. I had used Zip Lock freezer bags for most of my freezer items and as many may know these items end up with ice chips and is freezer burned in no time. Today I took every piece of meat in the freezer, cut the tops off the zip-locks, placed, for example, a chicken breast, in the vacuum seal bags, removed the air and sealed every thing in my freezer with this great little machine. It is fantastic but once again this is my first experience with this product and I will come back and update my review in a few months after I have used it for a longer period of time. Just remember, if you don't follow the instructions to the letter by the manufacturer it is likely you will experience some of the problems many of the bad reviews mentioned!

How in the world did I live without this for so many years! Glad I got in on the new sleek design. It's compact enough to fit in my small kitchen, super easy to use, vacuums and seals in seconds. A slide cutter would have made this perfect but not a big issue. I freeze a lot of fruits, meals, and meat that usually end up with freezer burn. Now, no more! Food stays fresh, bags are resealable (just leave extra if you think you're going to take what you need and refreeze). I use ice cube trays to freeze lime juice and tamarind pulp or whatever else, place in bags and vacuum seal. When I need some I open bag, take out a couple cubes and revacuum and seal. So efficient! The most useful appliance in my kitchen next to my vitamix.

First things first: ROUGH SIDE DOWN! The only way this unit properly works is by ensuring the rough side of the bag is on the bottom side when using the vacuum feature. Why don't they put a little graphic inside the lid to remind users of this most important requirement? I did! Anyway, enough venting. We used our first FoodSaver so much, the pump finally gave out. I think it lasted at least 6 or more years - I honestly forget. Who cares? We got our money's worth, and more. I certainly can't blame it for eventually dying. We abused the heck out of it. We could have kept it cleaner. We could have not always used the vacuum all the way to full. We didn't have to use it for every thing on the planet we could think of - but we did. The FS-branded hard plastic storage containers work great with this, too. The pre-cut bags are nice. So are the rolls, where you can make any size bag you need. We seal and store all sorts of things with this. We can buy large quantities of OTC meds and seal them up for long-term moisture-free storage. Of course, we use it for food. The ability to create and use your ow custom-sized bags really is a great feature. And, don't you hate packages that don't re-seal? Well, this unit re-seals hot dogs, potato chips, cereal, all sorts of other product packaging that you wish had a zip seal. We even seal and preserve our own drawings with this thing! You can seal collectibles like dollar bills, coins, cards, etc. Your imagination is the limit for this great little unit. That's why we bought another one just like the first. It's not expensive, not fancy looking, no extra features (sans the hose attachment), not any of that. It just works, and works very well. We'll treat this one nicer; maybe it will last ten years!

Can't say enough about this unit. I had a very old Seal-a-Meal that died after about 20 years or more. Some of the nice features: You can stop the vacuum to avoid squishing the food but still seal the bag. It will vacuum seal completely, just a little, or not at all -- just seal. You can re-seal a potato chip or pretzel bag (and less snacking that way :-). I use it to seal the bag of brown sugar so it doesn't dry out. I buy frozen fruit for smoothies and the bags can be resealed. I buy the pint-sized FoodVac bags which are very cost effective and seal single serving leftovers. It's so useful I leave it out on my counter all the time. I measure dry ingredients for chocolate chip cookies and seal them for future, quicker baking. Highly recommend this unit.

This foodsaver is easy to use and works exactly as advertised. It has come a long way since the FoodSaver I purchased 10 years ago. I love the buttons that give the option of vacuum and seal or just seal. It's thin and compact which makes it easy to store. My only complaint about this item is the price. It just doesn't seem like this product should cost this much given what it does. There are other brands that are cheaper, and perhaps they work just as well. As I often do, I read dozens of Amazon reviews and this seemed to be the best option. The FoodSaver brand bags and rolls are certainly not the best option, however. FoodVacBags match the quality, if not better, at a fraction of the cost. So happy that Amazon provides so many options that I can't find in stores!

This has changed my life, well maybe just my kitchen. I cook a lot of food Sous Vide and was vacuum sealing bags with a manual pump for awhile. Those bags were very expensive so all it took was finding this FoodSaver on sale and I thought I'd give it a shot. So glad I did, it works as described and the bags/bag rolls are so much cheaper than what I was using before. The bonus for me is being able to reseal all of the other chip bags and the like that we have laying around.

I LOVE the foodsaver! This thing has become indispensable in our kitchen, and I don't know how I put it off for so many years. My family had one when I was growing up, but as a single college student and a 20-something couple shopping in small quantities, it never seemed like something we'd use. Well a Costco membership changed all that. THE PROS - It comes out of the box ready to use and is extremely simple. Plug it in, cut a piece of bag off the roll or use one of the bags provided, and go. The instructions are very clear, but there's only 2 buttons on the whole thing, and if you've ever seen a vacuum sealer used you probably won't even need them. - The removable drip tray is designed really well. I mostly use the foodsaver for vacuum sealing meat, either on its own or with some kind of marinade/seasoning. When the extra juices run out the end of the bag, all you have to do is lift the tray out and give it a quick wash. I would hate to have to fish around down in there trying to get all the meat juice out. - Much quieter than the one my mom had as a kid. It's not necessarily QUIET, but it's not obnoxious. - Nicely designed, as attractive as such a small appliance can be. It looks fine on the counter when it's been left out and is very sleek and shiny black. THE CONS - There's nothing at all bad about the product itself. Any minor issues I've had over the last few months have been easily resolved by checking the manual. In fact, the only trouble at all has been once it just kept continually sucking air and never sealing, and all that was wrong was one of the foam edges inside that makes it airtight had been bumped and come lose. Pushing it back into place solved the problem and it's never happened again. I also buy generic bags from the big box stores, but I see how the brand ones provided are a better quality if you need that. Overall I love the foodsaver, and it opens up a whole world of possibilities for shopping in bulk.

I have the model FM 2000-000 and couldn't be happier with it. I have friends who have upgraded to the more expensive and high-end food saver line and they have gone back to using their original ones. Although they don't have the bag roll holder or the bag cutter it allows you to seal uniquely shaped bags and waste less of the roll. Don't waste your money on the more expensive units all they do is make you waste 5 or 6 inches of your bags and cost you hundreds of dollars more. I feel like the food saver brand might be following the same path as other big leading brands of other products and starting off with a amazing and Long lasting baseline product, but then (to increase profits) expand and add to their already efficient products with stupid little gimmicks and unnecessary features. The higher end line of the food saver products seems to be a pain to have the vacuum sealer align properly and wastes inches off the roll. I have provided a picture of my set up and it works way better than the higher priced units.
