I have been using the Leuchtturm1917 A5 size notebooks for a few years and I really like them, but I take LOTS of notes. As a result, I am currently going through one of those A5 notebooks every 3-4 months. So I wanted to try a larger size, but I was not sure if I was wanting to go all the way up to the A4 size. As a result, I decided to try out a B5 size notebook. I am a bit picky about my notebooks (because I literally use these things every single day), so I also wanted a notebook with a good number of pages (ideally, 200+), a hard cover, and dotted pages. I also liked that this one had pre-numbered pages and an index (although a notebook lacking these features is definitely not a deal-breaker for me). I have been using this for a few weeks now, and so far I like it quite a bit. I am a big fan of the size of the notebook - it is much better for me personally than the A5 size notebooks were. I also like the sturdiness of the hard cover and the general appearance of the notebook overall. Also, as I previously noted, I was looking for the combination of B5 size + hard cover + dotted pages, which was somewhat difficult to come by - so I really appreciated that this combination was available from Minimalism Art. The numbered pages and index were a nice bonus and I also like that it was made in the USA. In terms of critiques, I do have a bit more ink bleed-through with the pages in this notebook compared to my previous Leuchtturm1917 notebooks. I also have experienced an unexpected level of pen ink transfer, which hasn't happened to me with past notebooks. I use ballpoint pens, so it's not related to the ink being wet, but instead it's when I write on the back side of a page then the ink from the other side of the page rubs off onto the page facing it. Like I said, this is not something I've experienced before, so I'm not really sure if the cause is related to the paper or maybe I was using a weird pen or something. However, it has been annoying enough that I have switched to using pencil until I figure out what is going on. One other small thing is that I would prefer pure white pages because I use white correction tape and sometimes stickers/labels, and these don't look great on the off-white pages. But this is a really minor issue. Taking everything into account, as of now (~3 weeks in to using this notebook), I do expect to purchase this size/style/type of notebook from Minimalism Art again in the future and I *would* recommend it for others as well. Overall, it is a good quality notebook that meets the overwhelming majority of my needs. It is just that a few tiny tweaks would make it 100% perfect for me.

I ordered the Premium Edition notebook in the B5 size. This is my second bullet journal to purchase and all I have to say is it was more fantastic than I had imagined or even hoped it would be. No ghosting or bleeding and the paper is just wonderful. Initially (before my purchase of the Minimalism Art notebook), and after extensive research on many many blogs about bullet journaling to determine the best dotted notes book for bullet journaling, my findings led me to purchase the A5 Leuchtturm1917. And what a piece of crap it ended up being. The paper was thin, even the simplest of pens bled through the paper. And if it didn’t bleed, the ghosting was so horribly obvious, that I couldn’t force myself to write on the next page. What a waste it was. After dealing with this situation; I did reasearch specifically on what “gsm” is and how to choose the right one for the pens and markers I was using. This is what led me to amazon and also led me to find, choose and purchase the Minimalism Art Premium Edition. It eliminated all of my issues that I had with the Leuchtturm. I went with the bigger size (B5) but hope to order the A5 soon as well (because I have decided I need TWO bullet journals)! I also would like to note that shortly after purchasing this one, I also purchased the highly acclaimed Archer and Olive in an A5. Now while the paper is indeed thicker on the Archer and Olive, and it is a Purer white as we, the dots don’t line up AT ALL on two pages (left and right) next to each other. This just doesn’t really work for me. So needless to say after my research and purchasing other bullet journal just to “make sure”, I’m definitely sticking with Minimalism Art. I mean, I’m a minimalist anyway, so it makes complete sense!

I have been a fan of the basic Minimalism Art journals. Minimalism Art journals are very high quality products in general. The cover and page quality of all there products is superior to most. The Premium Edition is a clear upgrade to an already superior product. This is a heftier product with more pages, two bookmarks, thicker paper, and page numbering. However, it is still relatively small, easy to carry around, and easy to use. This journal is perfect as a bullet journal or custom planner with hand-drawn spreads for monthly/weekly planning. The pages lay flat making it easy to draw straight lines and lines crossing the page fold. It includes a Table of Contents and pages are numbered saving me some time in indexing pages. The premium version includes two bookmarks allowing me to mark both months and weeks separately. The pages are nice and think preventing bleed through but still thin enough to flip without trouble. There are plenty of pages (234) now over the standard version (192) giving me room to expand. The pages in the Medium version are also slightly wider with 27 columns and 40 rows giving slightly more room for spreads versus the standard versions. I am looking forward to filling this notebook in the new year. It is a quality item that looks great, feels great, and is very practical to use. I highly recommend this product.

This journal is pretty fantastic. It’s the second journal I’ve ever bought with the first being a B5 scribbles that matter. This is a pretty great second choice to the STM one. I ALMOST like it more but there two things I wish this journal had: a pen loop, and marks on the page so you can tell where center dot is without counting. STM has both these perks and I do really miss it. Otherwise, I like the paper in this journal much better. It’s not as sleek and doesn’t take as long for my pens to dry which has greatly reduced my smudging. It’s also a little bit bigger and has a few more pages than the STM which I was pretty happy to find. It’s paper thickness is technically less than STM at 120gsm but I haven’t noticed a big difference in the ghosting of my pens at all, so all in all I’m happy with my purchase and can’t wait to continue using my journal.

I love these journals. The paper is incredible. No bleeding with any of my pens and markers. Ghosting is barely there and only if I’m super heavy handed with a marker. Ballpoint and gel pens are a dream and pencil erasers no problem. The cover is sparkly! And 50 more pages from the non metallics!! Love love love.

I am very heavy handed with my pen markers and the ghosting in this journal is nothing compared to others I have purchased. I have had zero issues with the dotted lines being uneven or different from page to page. The journal lays flat regardless of what page you’re on. I love that the pages are numbered as I section my journal for a variety of things. Pens write smoothly on the pages with no issues or catches even when I saturate the page. It is thick and holds several pages for my calendars and bullet journaling and tracking various things. It doesn’t hurt that it’s pretty to look at! The size of it is perfect that I can fit everything in it but it’s not a full 8x11 that gets annoying to lug around. I plan on buying another one for academic notes. I am a previous Erin Condren planner person but they discontinued my favorite monthly planner and the quality of this paper is better than EC!

Bought two of these notebooks. One is gray and one is the San Francisco version. The San Francisco one came inside a nice little box which makes it a great gift. I personally like the texture of the gray one's cover, but I also like the off white paper color in the San Francisco one better. Both of them have good quality thick paper which works very well with my foundation pens. Would definitely buy more in the future.

Beautiful journal, golden yellow has a metallic look to it. Pages are smooth and way thicker than my last Moleskine. Tested markers and pens on pages and I see a little ghosting/ Sharpie is the only to bleed through a little but thats expected. I love it!!

Last year, I started journaling with a dot journal. The first I tried was the minimalism art classic (blue). I loved the size, but there was some ghosting and the binding came apart after about six months (notebook was nearly full so not so bad). Then I tried the three pack of minimalism art softcover (teal). They were much cheaper and there were three! I never get get hooked on these - I don’t like the square corners and miss the hard cover. Though there are awesome in the field of for writing on the go because you can fold in half and write on one side effectively. The infamous Leuchtturm 1917 came next (pink). It had so many reviews and I assumed all those people couldn’t be wrong. They also have a fantastic selection of colors! The two bookmarks, nicer pocket and elastic were great. I loved the slightly bigger, true A5 size! Rounded corners and you could fold in half if necessary to write outside. Still quite a bit of ghosting and depending on my pen, I’d find myself only writing on one side of the page. Not cool. I was pretty tempted to get another of these (I was greatly swayed by the colors), but they are really expensive and there was the ghosting problem. After way lots more research, I came back to minimalism art and found this premium edition (gray). Heavier paper than anything else I had seen, two bookmarks and a pen holding loop?! Perfect. I missed the bright colors, but liked the elegant options. And the price clinched the deal - $14 compared to $20 for the Leuc. Because the paper is so thick, the notebook is also thicker and heavier. Fine for carrying in my tote or sling pack, but may be noticeable in a purse. The gray color is very nice looking, but does show some dirt. I really wanted white and will choose that for my next journal that never leaves my bedside. The gray is nice for a traveling notebook. Yes, this is the one I will buy again!
