Lives up to the buzz.
The only down side is that you need to leave the lid off until your coffee cools off a bit. With my old mug, I have hot coffee when I leave for work and the last few sips are tepid when I hit the parking lot. Today was my first time to use the RTIC cup. It was still too hot when I pulled into the lot. I'm on my third glass of tea with the same half glass of ice since about noon. Ice is diminished, tea is cold, and it's almost 3:00. Pretty impressive.

No sweating, excellent insulation - drink stays cold (water & ice) or hot (coffee). Excellent!
Geez, 40 oz is a lot! Didn't they have 64 oz. soda fountain drinks at places years ago, maybe still do - that is a disgusting huge amount of soda. I actually don't drink soda Anyway, I tracked how much water I was drinking daily - yea guilty, I was not drinking enough water. Especially important in this Summer heat. So, I bought this one and also the 30 oz. tumbler (that one for coffee). All I can say is a 40 oz tumbler is a lot of liquid. The beauty of this product is you put ice in it and water and it does not sweat (get wet on the outside) and the drink stays cold for a very long time! I had already gulped most of one down after working outside in the heat. I refilled with some more ice and topped off with water and headed to the hardware store. Oh yes, the cup fits in the holder in car too - so, that is great as well. After arriving home, I ended up leaving the tumbler in the car (which was in the garage) and the next day when I went to retrieve the tumbler, there was still ice in it. Very impressive - double-walled insulation. Yea it costs a little more than something you could get at Target or Walmart, but this is a quality product that I am sure will last a long time and provide you with many years of enjoying your beverage the way you like it and at the temperature you want it at.

Wonderful cup!
Had it about a month-6 weeks now. Bought mine after another company thought it would be funny to go political. Won't use their products anymore. I just want a good cup! This is it. I like it better than my previous cup, color is excellent, no dings/scratches or dents at all. Lid is a better lid as well than the previous cup of the same size. I got the handle to go with it as well. Handle is about the same for quality, which is excellent on either cup. Price is a HECK of a lot better on this cup than the previous manufacturer. Got this blue one for me, Pink one for my wife. I'm a tea drinker, 30 oz of English breakfast each morning then water the rest of the day. No discolorations yet. Still looks brand new and keeps my drinks very warm or hot depending. I have to add about 1/5-1/4 of the cup full with ice in the morning or I can't drink the tea as it's too hot for hours without the ice. Same with any vacuum cup for me.

Favorite Gift To Give and Recieve
I cant say enough about these RTIC tumblers. I got some as a gift last Christmas and when I saw them on sale this time I had to grab more. I use them nearly every day. I love that it keeps my water/drinks cold all night long. sometimes wake up in the morning and I still have ice cubes! Our family likes to use them in the summer when we go out on our boat. Put your beer, wine or mixed drink in them to keep them cold while we're cruising the lake on a hot summer day. The lid helps with splashing and spilling while the double insulated layer keeps the beverages cold even on the hottest of days. One warning, don't leave in direct sun for too long, it will eventually heat up the outside because you can put warm beverages in there. I've now purchased these as gifts for friends who've watch our dog and they're great to give friends on a lake or who have pools. While I know Yeti is the prefer designer brand, the RTIC brand I feel holds up just as well and comes at a fraction of the price. Ill forever be purchasing these tumblers for gifts and whenever I need more.

I don't post reviews often but I had to for this product. I bought my husband a Yeti lowball rambler for Christmas and he loved it. It was his "go to" cup for his nighttime "wind-down" drink ... until this cup came along! We're going to the beach this weekend and I wanted a couple of tumblers to keep our drinks cold. My husband suggested I look at Yeti alternatives due to the price. Based on excellent reviews, I ordered two RTIC 20 oz tumblers. They arrived within 2 days (I love Amazon Prime!) and my husband used his immediately. Here's a pic of the drink he made last night at 8:00 pm. It's now 12:00 noon the next day and look at all that ice! I can't wait to use mine at the beach this weekend. Great product. Fast delivery. How could I not give this a "5 stars"?

Wonderful tumbler with a ton of room for your daily beverage
I’ve been carrying a 3 ounce tumbler for the past year and loved it. My only complaint was that it wasn’t large enough. Enter this new 40 ounce tumbler and I’m a happy girl. It’s definitely not quite 40 ounces as 2 16.9 ounce water bottles fill it up completely, but it’s still better than my 30 ounce tumbler. It keeps drinks cold for a long time. My water is still cold the next morning without any ice (just water from the fridge). I don’t think it keeps water as cold as the 30 ounce tumbler, but that may be due to the larger volume. Overall I’m very happy with this tumbler for my cold beverages.

Ecologically Smart
I've been using this for a couple months now and I really like it. It performs as advertised. It will keep hot things hot for a while - couple hours then warm enough to enjoy if you're not a stickler for the burn. If you get a lid for it your drinks will keep their temps a bit longer. The Yeti lids fit perfectly. There's a need to justify my absurdly privileged life, where I can afford to spend five dollars on a special coffee. So I had to pay a lot of money for a metal cup, then pay for metal straws and a plastic top to go with it all. Why? Because now I can feel as though I'm doing a good deed when I buy that overpriced beverage that if I'd gotten up 20 minutes early, I could have made at home. But more importantly, when the baristas and the other coffee snobs waiting in line for their fancy drinks or gourmet coffee see my example, maybe, just maybe, they'll think about the paper cup, plastic top, plastic straw, paper the straw man S wrapped in and the cardboard sleeve they wrap around the cup. This is the easiest cleaning cup I've ever owned. It is very good quality stainless steel so it doesn't have striation or microscopic pitting causing it to retain coffee or tea if you're not quick to wash it right away. You don't need the straws. I recommend this cup.

nice design, nice lid, half price of famous brands but with same performance and better lid
So far, I'm loving this. It has everything I wanted: 1) it's big 2) It holds heat well 3) It's leak proof (so far), when sipping and when closed (both are important) 4) it fits in cupholder of subaru outback, and yet base is fairly wide so it's stable for 30oz One tip. When you first put hot coffee in and then the lid, the temperatures have to equalize a bit. for a few minutes, during temperature equalization, the lid will be pushed up. So you can't just put hot liquid in, then the cap, then turn it over b/c it'll leak b/c the lid will have been pushed out. But after a few minutes, the temperatures equalize and then you can hold it upside down with no leak. I don't have a problem with flip part getting in way of my nose. My guess is that they have this design so that they don't make another hole in the lid: this allows them to have a flip cover and have the hinge not make another hold in the lid, so I'm a fan of the design. And the price is right: its' half the price "of the other guys" and yet all youtube reviews say heat retention is nearly identical. And this has a better lid design.

Excellent!
Excellent. I bought mine so that I could paint it. It keeps liquids cold, even in the hot car, and there is no condensation on the outside. I watched many comparison videos between the Rtic and the Yeti. I will not be spending Yeti prices just to be paying for their branding.

For those complaining about the lid's cap hitting them in the nose...
Before you pass up this cup based on complaints that the lid’s cap doesn’t rotate open far enough and hits you in the nose when you drink, please read this: When you open the lid’s cap, it will stop as you rotate it to the 90-degree (straight up) position. But the cap was apparently designed to be opened to about 120 degrees. When the cap hits the 90-degree position and stops, continue to gently rotate it. The cap will “click” and then continue to move, coming to rest at a final open position of about 120 degrees. And thanks to that little “click” you feel at 90 degrees, it will lock in that fully open position so the cap doesn’t fall onto your nose if you drink without using a straw. I can’t speak to any other complaints others may have, but the lid's cap should clear your nose just fine if you open it all the way.
