Best Touchless Kit Yet
Before hearing about the TECHO unit, I used the Kohler kit for more than a year and experienced all the issues that other users have mentioned: a lot of "ghost flushing" and having to almost touch the toilet to activate the flush (which kind of defeats the purpose of a no touch device). I was delighted to find out how much better the TECHO product is, compared to Kohler: (1) same easy installation; (2) much quieter, without the weird wind-up noise that the Kohler unit produces before flushing; and most importantly (3) you can activate the flush from a very safe distance of as much as 5 inches above the lid cover. No more accidentally touching the toilet tank lid!

200% better than the OEM Kohler Unit
I finally replaced the original touchless flush system that came with my Kohler toilet. What a frustrating, poorly designed mess that was. Even with two (2) rounds of updates from Kohler and a total replacement unit - nothing but disappointment. I can't say enough good things about Kohler support - they tried everything - and at no charge - but nothing worked. Ghost flushes in the middle of the night, batteries that drained after 2 weeks - sometimes less - it was bad. I would have added a lever assembly and surrendered the dream of touchless - but my tank did not have an opening for a handle - it was designed to be touchless so I had to find a solution or change out the entire tank. Enter TECHO. After 60-Days in my Kohler toilet - the TECHO has worked flawlessly. No ghost flushes (not a single one) and after 60-days (I know it's still early in the love affair) the batteries are still going strong. The unit has an electronically adjustable sensitivity setting unlike the Kohler that you adjust by physically raising or lowering the unit inside the tank away from the lid. The TECHO battery compartment is incredibly well sealed with a gasket and a screw to keep it snug. Installation is a breeze. If you are replacing a Kohler unit you'll have absolutely no issues. AND - you will appreciate the engineering changes that make this unit a better tool and at a lower cost than the KOHLER. Sensitivity remains CONSTANT - something the Kohler did not. At 5 inches above the tank lid it activates - every time. As the batteries died on the KOHLER unit I often had to tap the top of the lid to get it to trigger. Not very touchless. This TECHO unit works the way the KOHLER should have. If it keeps working like this after a year (or fails miserably) , I'll update this review. A great purchase in my opinion.

Easy to Install and Works Perfectly!
What more is there to say than now that I tried one, I'm installing them in every bathroom in my house! I have to admit, I was skeptical. But the reviews were good and, hey, I could always then return it. But instead I'm buying two more to have one in every bathroom. First of all, the installation was very easy! Just follow the directions (and take heed in their suggestion to drain the tank first...I did that and I can't imagine how tough it would have been to Install and adjust with water in the way) and in 10 minutes tops, from opening the Box to planning the tank lid, you're done! I placed the little Wave sticker on top of the tank lid to show/remind people they can just save their hands. I now have to find something to let me neatly cover the hole on the front and I'll remove the traditional handle completely! ... Though maybe it's a good backup in case your batteries die? Huh...that's probably a reason to keep it around. At any rate, yes, it's a little pricey for something no one absolutely needs, but I'm a tech loving guy, so it's just sitting that my toilets should have hands-free flushing :)

I used this to replace my Kohler touchless flush assembly. By far this is superior. I was just about to replace the toilet as the Kohler model that came with the toilet was burning through batteries at an alarming rate and would flush randomly to the point where I would have to pull the battery pack before leaving the house. Oh, and Kohler customer service was no help at all. Seriously, this product is far superior. The phantom flushing has stopped and I'm 6 weeks in and still haven't had to change the battery yet. Oh, and it also holds the flap open for about a second longer so you get a better flush.

WORKS FLAWLESSLY
I would give this 10 STARS if they allowed it. After going through THREE automatic flush kits from Kohler, and the "Fantom Flushes" filling my septic tank, I had just about gave up and had to tie a string to the flapper to manually flush the toilet. Talk about inconvenience !! Then I came across this TECHO unit on Amazon. It works FLAWLESSLY. I am very happy with TECHO and amazed that an American Company can't get it right three times in a row.

This Is The One To Buy
This is an excellent product. I originally installed the Kohler Touchless Kit in my 1 piece Kohler toilet. It hardly ever worked and was practically useless. It wouldn't work when it was supposed to and would flush for no reason whenever it felt like it. Then I saw this device on Amazon and purchased it. It installed in 5 minutes and works flawlessly! I highly recommend. Don't buy the Kohler, mine is now in the trash.

I bought a Kohler toilet with their no-touch flusher. It was awful -- phantom flushes. They replaced it with a newer model that was only a little better. The record was 10 phantom flushes in a row. To be fair, I live in a humid place and condensation does always form on the toilet lid. OTH, Kohler offered no warnings about environmental conditions. The TECHO works properly. I've had it installed for about a year, and during that time I suppose I've had 5 or 6 phantom flushes. So for me, it's been completely satisfactory. If your Kohler toilet hasn't been working properly, just get this one.

Techo touchless vs Kohler touchless
About a year ago I purchased and installed a similar product from Kohler KOHLER K-1954-0 Touchless Toilet Flush Kit. Decided a few weeks ago to upgrade another toilet and give the Techo product a try. Here is my comparison of the two products: 1. Ease of installation. Pretty similar for both, although Kohler's instructions are much clearer. 2. Reliability. Have not had the Techo product long enough to know, but the Kohler product began to uncontrollably flush over and over again about 4 months after installation and had to be replaced. 3. Usability. The Techo product is more sensitive and will flush from a hand as much as 4 inches away. The Kohler product requires that your hand be within an inch. Kohler suggests you can cure this by raising the unit inside the tank so that it is closer to the top, but when I tried that the tank top rested on top of the unit. Furthermore, although I didn't need to use it, the Techo product has a sensitivity adjustment built in to it. 4. Changing batteries. Easier in the Kohler unit. The Techo unit requires that you unplug the battery compartment from the main unit, remove it from the tank, and then use a screwdriver to open the compartment. The Kohler compartment simply unlatches in situ. 5. Installation options. Both units can be installed either in conjunction with the existing flush handle (permitting either method to be used to flush the toilet) or as a complete replacement, leaving touchless as the only option. However, the Kohler instructions are only for complete replacement whereas the Techo instructions are only for dual operation. It's not that difficult in either case to figure out how to install using the other option. But, the Kohler kit includes a cosmetic plastic plug that you put in the hole after removing the handle. The Techo unit does not, and you'll need to find one or improvise. 6. Product support. So far have not needed any for the Techo product, but the Kohler product stopped functioning after about 4 months. A single conversation with Kohler customer support yielded the needed replacement parts. Subsequently they sent me another part, also free of charge, even though I had messed it up. So Kohler gets an A+ for support. Bottom line: let's see how the Techo product functions over time. If there are no problems, then I would definitely recommend it over the Kohler product. The higher sensitivity combined with the ability to adjust the sensitivity is a major plus. One further recommendation: After installing either product get into the habit to turn off the water main, or at least the water supply valve to the toilet whenever you plan to be away for more than a day or two. Had the Kohler failure occurred while I was away, it would have flushed thousands of gallons "down the toilet".

My best purchase ever!
Back in the early 90s, I bought an expensive toilet by Koehler called the Peacekeeper. It would flush by closing the lid, thereby eliminating the ugliness of an open toilet or men leaving the seat up. I loved this toilet but over the years we had a lot of issues with it not working right. We constantly had to make adjustments to the internal workings of the toilet and even had to replace the wiring inside the box that contained the batteries. The toilet seat, which had to be a special seat for $100, needed to be replaced once and it was hard to find and took months to arrive after ordering. Well, the internal mechanism which made it work, finally and suddenly stopped working one day. I tried to rebuild it to no avail. My husband wanted to buy a whole new toilet but there was nothing else on the market like the Peacekeeper and I was determined to find a way to make it work. I bought this Kit, installed it in less than 2 minutes and have never been more happy with a purchase from any place!! There are absolutely no adjustments needed, it works flawlessly every time and it saved us from buying and installing a new toilet.
