Better than advertised

Bought this to replace a microwave that finally kicked the bucket. Wanted to upgrade to a microwave that was at least 1000 watts. This was rated very highly on Consumer Reports and other online consumer product raters, and it lived up to the billing. Food that would normally take four or five minutes to reheat thoroughly now only takes two to three. Defrosting food is no longer a hassle. Needless to say, I love this microwave.

Amazon is the best place to buy this microwave

With no shipping costs and no taxes, purchasing this microwave from Amazon is a no-brainer. This is our second purchase of this particular microwave (the other is at our summer home). Both serve us well as backups to our OTR units. In my opinion this model is the best value out there for a small, standalone unit.

Wonderful microwave

Even though we have had this oven for a short time, I am very impressed with it. It was the perfect size we were looking for, along with plenty of cooking power. I can't believe how quiet this microwave is compared to ones I have had in the past. Plenty of extras in choosing cooking levels and choosing what type of food you would like to cook. The only criticisms I have at this point is the button to open the door is hard to push and I wish the light would stay on when you open the door. All in all I feel this is a wonderful well made oven.

Perfect So Far.....

This just arrived yesterday so it may be a little premature to be singing it praises already but so far I love it. It was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. I love the flexibility that all the different cook settings provide but I have to include this disclaimer; it replaced a 15-year-old microwave that had 1 mechanical dial as the only control. A possible insignificant fact is the door closure and latch mechanism seems much more secure than my old one ever was. I noticed in the directions something about child safety lockout of the microwave which seems a good idea but since there are no children here I ignored that section. Other reviewers have spoken favorably about the sensor cook mode which I haven't used yet but am looking forward to learning about.

If you need Panasonic to send a replacement part write a bad review.

Ordered this microwave after my previously one broke, arrived with a broken part so I contacted Amazon. Amazon had greater customer service but was unable to send the part and told me it had to be done by Panasonic, which shouldn't have been a big deal. I emailed Panasonic initially and was told to give it 48 hours, no response. Tried calling them, was told there would be longer then average wait times, which is no big deal I worked in a call center when I went to college so waiting on phones doesn't bother. However, I never was able to wait for a representative as it the asks you to describe the issue, upon describing the issue the voice would tell me to check the website and then end the call. Tried this 5 times on two separate days, even tried saying "I need to talk to a representative" and was told my answer could be found on their website. So logically, I went online at this point to use the online representative, got to the point they sent me an email to verify my purchase. Which I did, and was told give it 48 hours, then they never contacted me again. It could very well be the worlds greatest microwave and I will never know it because Panasonic customer support was created by someone drinking a 40oz of Windex to wash down their dinner of lead paint. Edit: Shortly after writing this review Panasonic contacted me asking for my address to send a replacement part.

We’ve had the Panasonic nn-su686s microwave for 7 weeks and are very happy w it! Great looking microwave w great features for a fantastic price! It works well, and is also easy to use and clean. Other reviewers mentioned missing the fact that the inside light is only on while food is cooking and not when the door is open. I was slightly concerned about this when purchasing but it’s proven not to be an issue at all for us. One minor change we made: The microwave’s “feet” are a hard plastic and we felt had the potential to slide on granite countertops so we put small rubbery pieces beneath each of the feet to keep it really secure....definitely not a deal breaker for us but makes us all the more happy w our new microwave. Last note, as others mentioned - read the instructions! Selecting power level, auto defrost, etc are quite user friendly but all microwaves are different so a quick read of instructions make all the features a breeze to use.

Good Item

This is a solid microwave to replace one I got a few years ago and accidentally damaged. I originally replaced my microwave from one purchased from a local nationally-known box store, but the replacement was a piece of junk. So I took the chance of ordering this one and am quite happy with it. I would have preferred one with an interior bulb that would light when I opened the door, and I would have preferred brighter markings on the buttons. But these are minor problems: the unit has performed flawlessly.

No News is Good News

I had a Sharp microwave for ten or fifteen years. It worked well but was only a 700 watt model. That meant I had to always adjust the cooking times on the box which usually assume you have a 1100 watt model. Then one day it stopped working just as some day I too will stop working. I ordered another Sharp microwave. But something has gone terribly wrong at Sharp. The damn thing never worked properly and essentially caught on fire and blew up. Actually it was more spectacular than that. It shot little lightning bolts in the cabinet while loudly banging and rattling. It seemed to be having an electrical thunderstorm on my kitchen counter. It's now waiting for the bulk trash collection in my car port. What about the Panasonic microwave? Nothing to report. Works perfectly.

Great Microwave Oven

My two hungry Labradors and I love this microwave oven! It cooks their meat perfectly to a medium rare and at 1100 watts - it's lightning fast.I found this Panasonic after an extensive search for a replacement microwave oven, (as my old one had almost as much cooking power as an Easy Bake Oven). This oven is smaller in overall exterior size, yet has a very large interior cooking space - and it has a flat front. Why is that important you ask? It has a push button open which means you don't have that large handle that will get in the way if you're putting this into a cabinet or on a shallow countertop space. Buy this microwave oven - you'll be glad you did.
