I would have thought that buying Kreg brand screws meant paying more, but looking at the big box stores, I was surprised that the Kreg brand screws were actually cheaper than the other generic pocket-hole screws. Who'da thunk?
Amateur woodworker here. These pocket hole screws are a nice quick way to join some boards together whilest keeping things out of sight. Coupled with the plugs Kreg also sells, a good way to save some time on a project. Reading around, these are probably not the strongest solution for joining some boards together, but it is probably one of the quickest. For me, I just didn't have the time (nor the tools) for intricate dowel joints, mortise and tenon, etc... So, if you're looking for just a quick and easy way to make something you can be proud of, these aren't a bad way to go.
Face frames come together rocket fast with these screws. The smooth finish let's them glide through the wood to hold the joint glue tightly. This is a plan coming together very well!
