Things that I liked about this 50mm f1.8 lens: Is it cheap? Yes Did I like f1.8 for less money than a 18-55mm f 5.6 at 50mm on DX format? Metal mount? Yes, it fits perfectly. Does it expose consistently well? Yes Does it autofocus well on my D3400, D7000, D810, and even on my D500 and N80 cameras? Yes Did I like that it autofocuses on a D40, D60, D3xxx, D5xxx camera without the in-body AF motor? Yes. Faster AF than Nikon -D lenses? Yes. Quiter the AF-D lenses? Yes. Runs OK at 10 fps? Yes Does it feels like a Cannon lens? Yes, Nikon? Maybe. Did I removed the blue plastic (front and back) lens protector plastic so I can get normal colored pictures? Yes Did I put a good Hoya filter in from of it? Yes. Did I run it against the 50mm 1.4f AF-D, the Sigma 18-200 OS, the Nikon 28-300mm, the Nikon AF-P 18-55, the Nikon AF-SII 18-55 and did not see much difference at the same aperture? Yes. Was there much difference? No. Did I see any more glare than the Nikon lenses? NO Did I like the bouquet? Yes Is it sharp? Yes, (at least were it matters on 80% of the center of the frame). Did I say... Is it cheap? Yes.. LOL. What I did not like: - No weather seal. - Focus scale moves the oposite than the focus ring. - No manual focus override while in autofocus. You have to use a switch like the old lenses. - No VR, but f1.8 is waaayyyy faster than f5.6 on a DX 18-55mm.. - Filter thread size is 58mm not 52mm as listed. So, you do the math. For me, and for non-critical work were you are not going to print mural size prints. I think it is worth the try. Time will tel how long it will last. Happy shooting!

It is surprisingly amazing for the price

I just got this lens today. It is surprisingly amazing for the price. It's better than the kit lenses that come with the Nikon D3300 (NIKKOR 18-55mm & NIKKOR 50-200mm). The images are sharp. The ability to go as low as f/1.8 allows a photographer to take great videos/pictures in low light settings, and of course you can take portrait-style pictures/super focused pictures with bokeh and blurry background. I would suggest using a NIKKOR 18-55mm to film/photograph any scenes that you simply want to be crisp and easy to film. I would suggest using a NIKKOR 50-200mm for the same purpose for scenes that are farther away, plus you get a lower f stop. I would suggest using this lens (Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8) to film cinematic-looking shots that are super-focused where you move around, change the focus, and make an amazing shot.

Don't think twice. This is a steal!

I did a test on this lens before I made this review. I really recommnend this lens. Pros: Autofocus: 85% of the time can do the job its faster compare to other nikon lens that I have. Sharpness: This lens is very sharp I dont see difference on other nikon lens actually its sharper on some point.At 2.8F this is the sweet spot for portrait on this lens. Built: Built is very acceptable. Even its made on plastic this is still a solid lens for this price point. Plus points: This lens have a modern coating. You gonna love the skin tone and contrast out from this lens. Cons: * i agree on other reviews that this lens is little bit more high on highlights which you can control depends on the settings that have in your camera. But if you are shooting using a raw file and love to do post processing its not gonna be problem. it can easily adjust using photo editing software. *Aperture from 1.8 to 2.5 is very soft. But this normal also on some brand lens out there. This is my honest review on this lens. This lens is superb on this price point. Not to bulky easy to carry around have a very sharp image, modern looking lens and most important it can do the job. If you are on the budget this lens is a must have. Still a lot people going to say bad about this lens but I am going to tell you that they just can't just accept the truth that this lens is very competitive to their expensive lens .

Great lens made even better because of the very low cost

Was not excepting this lens to be so GREAT!

I bought this lens with not high expectations just because I was on a budget after buying a Nikon D 7100. And 2 mi disbelief this lens is amazing. I saw some reviews saying that it was soft on the edges but for my type of photography I do some cropping of my images not all of them. But this land is very sharp. It's very quiet when Auto focusing. It finds the focus Point very quickly. For video you can hear the motor but I did not buy this lens for video nor the camera either. But I'm extremely happy with the results. Manual focus works really smoothly with a quick turn you are pretty well in focus. Highly recommended and I was thinking about buying the Nikon 50mm 1.8 G but with these results I will not buy it. I've watched many comparisons on YouTube and they are extremely close so I went with this lens and I would highly recommend it.

Youngnuo - The new lens guy on the block...

I read some scoff at this lens because it is from China and very affordable. I have tested my copy from Amazon, and at F11, the image quality is nothing short of amazing. Along with the quality of construction and packaging, I would have to say this lens is an absolute bargain. As with many faster primes, it is not a good idea to shoot wide open and expect sharp corners. The corners improve, and are best at F8-F11. On a DX camera, this is a 75mm lens. The corners are sharper because they are cropped by the camera. I am very pleased with this Amazon purchase!

Great Quality & Value

I am a complete newbie to photography. I have a Nikon D5300. I quickly realized that the lenses that came in the kit was not up to snuff and I needed to upgrade. After doing tons of reading I decided to cut my teeth on a lens with good reviews that was economical. Suffice to say I'm very pleased. Professionals might think otherwise but this novice is happy.

Fantastic Lens and Not Just For The Money...

Package arrived sooner than expected! I have been using this for about a week now, and have ran it through its paces pretty heavily. My concerns from other reviewers, and reality: Concern: Lightweight and cheap plastic:: I feel just as comfortable using it as any other Nikon lens. No concerns, honestly. Concern: Quality differences:: I have done a lot of low light pictures so far, and they all look fantastic (tomato, tomoto) nahm sayin? Concern: Loud auto focus:: Honest to god this thing is a lot quieter and smoother than my other Nikon lens. I was impressed. Concern: Sticky focus ring:: The rubber grip is great, spins silky smoove, and does its job very well. Honestly, this lens is awesome and im having a great time using it. I would buy this lens again in a heartbeat, and I want to get their 35mm version too for the Nikon. Im impressed all around and you cant go wrong buying this lens.

I must say that I am very happy with my purchase. I understood what I was getting, so I have no surprises. Bokeh is great, and it is tack sharp from f/2.8 up. I have been using the kit 18-55mm and 70-200mm and have been using them even at events that others wouldn't have, because I know how to get the best out of what I have to work with. This lens is definitely an upgrade, even if not perfect. The auto focus is slow in low light, but I have been practicing my manual focus technique. If you need an upgrade on your kit lens, but on a budget, you can't go wrong with this.

It's absolutely perfect for my needs

I bought this to use with my Nikon D5600 as a portrait lens. It's absolutely perfect for my needs. Autofocus works perfectly, though a bit slower than my other Nikkor lenses, It's perfect for my needs. With my savings on this lens, I have more for other pressing photographic needs.
