Can't CLOSE the thing! But wait til you read what the company did to make it right!!

I bought this over a year ago and have used it about 6 times. I really like the size and color and especially the double canopy which helps a lot in the wind. HOWEVER, I have finally realized that there is one flaw with this umbrella that made me finally decide to toss it and buy another. It is nearly impossible to CLOSE. Today I could hardly get into my car in a downpour, fighting to close the umbrella so I could get in out of the rain. I had to get out, manually fold it shut, getting drenched in the process, and even then I was unable to get the handle to telescope. This has happened multiple times - why did it take me so long to give it up?! This is an addendum. After I wrote this review, the company, EEZ-Y Umbrella, obviously saw the review and, completely unsolicited, sent me a replacement umbrella. It is a different version, a lovely 58" golf umbrella and upon receiving it, I find no difficulty in opening or closing it. What a company! I can't rate the old umbrella higher but give great kudos to the company any my new replacement. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Superstar of umbrellas!!

OMG, this umbrella is incredible! It's sooo solid and sturdy. The auto pop up works perfectly and the double canopy is awesome! I never had a double canopy before but I'm so glad I got this one. I've bought 2 other junky umbrellas at local stores recently (with zero success) and I'm so happy to have found a solid umbrella with the EEZ-Y! Third times a charm!

Compact, Well-Made, And I Can Close it With the Touch of a Button

WOW. One little button actually *does* make the umbrella close! How I wish I'd owned this back when my kids were little and my hands full! Not only that, but it's small enough to fit in my purse, and it's not flimsy, either. The last compact umbrella I owned was nowhere near as well-made. I live in Central Florida, where, during most of the summer, it rains nearly every day. It can be clear and beautiful outside and ten minutes later you're dealing with a monsoon, complete with wind gusts that come from nowhere. This umbrella is compact yet sturdy enough to keep with me without taking up too much room. Its style is similar to larger vented umbrellas, with an overlap of material that prevents rain from getting between them. It keeps water out but lets air pass through, rather than turn your umbrella inside-out after the wind catches it. It's made well and reasonably priced. I'm really, really tired of spending money on umbrellas that either work but are enormous, or are small, made with cheap parts, and completely useless! This travel umbrella gives me the best of a larger umbrella while also not taking up the whole front seat of my car. I love this thing. Bought it in blue so it stands out from the rest of my not-nearly-so-awesome umbrellas. Wonderful little product and I recommend it.

Great compact umbrella with excellent customer service!

I have only had my umbrella for a few days, but so far it works great! I travel quite a bit and am on the road more than 50% of the time. Because I travel so much a very compact umbrella is important to me. The EEZ-Y is lightweight and compact. It fits in my backpack, or my suitcase, without taking up too much room. A golf umbrella is really good for providing a large footprint and keeping the rain off of you, but they aren't exactly small and don't pack well. The footprint of the EEZ-Y is significantly smaller comparatively, but it's perfect for walking the crowded streets of NYC when it's raining without hitting all of the other umbrellas on the sidewalk. You might be able to squeeze two people under it as long as you both don't mind getting a little wet, and you really like each other. Otherwise, for me, it's just about perfect. I read several reviews where people complained that they could only get a few fingers on the handle. It is definitely a small, nubby handle. If you have big hands, you won't be able to get more than two or three fingers on it. I have fairly normal-sized hands and I can grip it with my thumb and three fingers no problem. The grip is also rubbery and provides plenty of leverage and grip to stabilize the umbrella. However, if you want a larger grip you may want to look at a different sized umbrella. Again, I was going for something that is compact. The one-touch button for opening and closing the umbrella works just fine. Keep in mind that when you close the umbrella that it doesn't fold all the way back down. The button will close the canopy, and then you must manually collapse the umbrella. This is under tension, but unless you have problems with arthritis or some other physical disability this shouldn't be an issue. You could even push it into the floor if it was too difficult, but I don't find it to be an issue. I also have been amazed at EEZ-Y’s customer service! When I registered my umbrella I made a note that I thought the color was a bit off, and that the grey looked a bit too green. EEZ-Y promptly arranged to have the umbrella replaced with a different color – without me asking! They have been extremely polite and responsive to emails throughout the process. Top notch customer service! Other than the grey color being slightly off I have yet to find any faults with the construction, materials, or operation of the umbrella.So far, I am really enjoying the umbrella and the service offered by EEZ-Y. I would definitely recommend this to someone!

Must have for city commuters..

I love this umbrella, it fits easily in my bag and opens and closes with ease when I need it quickly. I currently live in NYC and this is a must-have. I would buy those $5 crap umbrellas in chinatown and after 3 broken umbrellas I've decided to buy a decent one here on amazon... I don't know what I haven't done this sooner! The only thing was I thought this umbrella would be a bit bigger than what I expected. The picture made it seem bigger than the actual size. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with my purchase..... I went to the MET the other month and forgot my bag and I was more upset about losing my umbrella then I was my bag.... but then I found my bag.

So far I love this umbrella it fits in my lunch bag and purses easily. It opens and closes quickly and since I walk the a cane not having to fight to get my umbrella opened is a plus. It large enough to cover me and my bags so thumbs up for the product.

Great umbrella

I really love this umbrella, in Texas we have allot of random rain storms and high wind and this umbrella really holds up against them both but when the rain randomly stops it's small enough to stow away in my glove compartment so overall I really recommend this umbrella over the crap you get in the local Walgreens lol

Pretty compact for such a large umbrella!

This is the largest umbrella I've ever owned, and it's by far the most well-made. It's not over cumbersome at all, but gives plenty of room for shelter underneath. Something that is essential in the desert elements in AZ. This can easily create some shade at a sporting event, or to protect from the fast onset of a Summer monsoon. The components all look to be top quality. It pops up easily with a slight squeeze of the button, and retracts down just as easily. I was pleasantly surprised that even after using it, it fits back into its cover. For such a large umbrella, it's really quite compact when closed.

Cocked and ready to go

I haven't used this in the rain yet.. But I can assume it's going to do what all umbrellas do. It's a big enough size that two people can fit under it, but not too big as to be awkward on a sidewalk. We got the Marsala (burgundy) color. It's a nice deep hue. What I particularly like is the cocking mechanism. The final closing "push" might be a little tough for wimps. What it does is loads up the spring for a nice quick opening and closing action. Great for when getting into and out of your car when speed is appreciated. Folds up to a fairly small size for car storage. PS... for size perspective in picture, please note that I am 6'1" and 260lbs.

Amazing customer suport

My review is based solely an amazing experience with customer support. I had previously bought two EEZ-Y Windproof Double Canopy umbrellas and would have to agree with a lot of the positive reviews. This is top quality product and given my personal experience of working around downtown Los Angeles it gets really windy and have put this baby to the test. While some of my colleagues and others using other sub-par products that tend to break during the Santa Ana winds my umbrellas have withstand the gusts of winds without breaking. It is very sturdy and easy to launch when pressing the Open and close button. Now here is the reason why I feel that you should buy or give this product a chance. Unfortunately one of my EEZ-Y umbrellas malfunctioned and I was not fully aware of the reason until I contacted EEZ-Y's customer support team. I had registered my umbrella and contacted them via email through their website for assistance with warranty. The Open/Close button was working and still is, but what 'we' were doing wrong was that we were not pressing the Open/Close button to close the umbrella as it is recommended by EEZ-Y. You will notice on my pictures that by not doing as instructed it pushed out a white thread that helps with the mechanism which closes the umbrella. Well year had gone by and I thought there is no way that I'm going to get this either replaced or repaired. Within a few a couple of hours customer support rep Olivia was informing me that I should not worry about it. She offered a brand NEW umbrella at no cost for using their product. It was simply amazing and it is what will now keep me as a loyal customer of EEZ-Y umbrellas. I have recommended this wonderful company to family, and friends. I kept the other umbrella and will attempt repairing it, but I was told to just throw it away, because the mechanism is broken. It will be worth a try. Here is exactly what Olivia at EEZ-Y informed me: "From what I can see, the Auto Open/ Close mechanism is broken. The white threads are out and can not be retracted manually. This problem usually occurs when you close the umbrella manually and not by pushing the button on the handle. By pushing the Open button on the handle, the umbrella will pop open. Pushing the button again, it will only close the canopy but not retract the shaft. To correctly close the umbrella, take the palm of your hand and place it on the top of the umbrella, on the small circular plastic cap at the top. Push both ends toward the center until you hear a click sound. Please don't close the umbrella by grabbing the ribs." Very simple, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that may or will experience when not properly using the product. I'm glad I contacted EEZ-Y and now will make sure to take care of my new umbrella.
