OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE
This is a follow up to my earlier review of one star. The flow rate is actually quite good and while the quality of materials needs some work I believe this pump woul work quite well in a pond of 450 gallons or less. What I am giving 5 stars for is the customer service of this company. I honestly have never dealt with a finer group of people. They contacted me after my one star review replaced the defective pump and did everything they could to to make my experience a good one. I would gladly buy their products again.

So far, this pump is doing a great job in my service.
So far I'm really happy with this pump. I am using this pump in my 1500 gallon pond for recirculation of pond water though my filter/UV algae killer. This is not used as a waterfall pump in my pond. I use a 5000GPH pump for that. Here's some finer details: - The pump seems to be very well built. It is very heavy compared to the failed one it is replacing. This leads me to believe that there is far more copper windings and heavier magnets inside the unit. - It is listed at 1056GPH. I have no way of measuring this volume, so I cannot verify the flow rates. It does put out a good volume of water, so I'm happy with it, although I have a sneaking suspicion that it doesn't actually hit north of 1000GPH. Maybe though. (I have essentially 0 vertical head that this is pushing, as you increase vertical push [head] on a pump, flow rate decreases significantly) I am happy nonetheless. NOTE, the manufacturer states this pump has a max lift of 12 inches. They mean feet. It will lift over 12 inches. - This pump is sealed and UL listed so I don't have to worry about shocking and killing all of my fish. It is also an oil-free pump, again, protecting my fish. - The longer cord allows me to get the pump out into the middle of the pond where it is deeper to get more dirt into the filter. - This setup came with 3 different size male nipples to attach different size discharge hoses, depending on what you have. It DOES NOT come with any discharge hose. You can get this at any big box hardware store such as Lowes or Home Depot. They list the sizes as 0.83, 1.06, and 1.34 inches. I am guessing that these fit a 3/4", 1", and 1.25" hose. My 1" hose fits the middle nipple just fine. Time will tell on the longevity of the unit. I will try to remember to get back to this review and update it if/when the pump fails. I run mine for 8 months per year 24x7, so I am pretty happy when I get a pump to last more than 2 years of service in my cruddy pond. Time will tell... I hope I have helped your purchasing decision of this product. Great for my swimming pond.
I dug a swimming pond for my grandkids and built a wooden dock which extends out into it for diving while others can sit and talk. I installed this pump under the dock and ran 3/4 Inch PVC under it. I drilled different size holes into the PVC to allow the water to make different tones when it hits the surface. It sounds like a waterfall or a babbling brook which is soothing to listen to while relaxing. This pump has a volume control which I have turned down about 1/4 turn. I have access to it from the top of the decking so that I don't need to get wet to clean the filter.

updated - GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - nice pump
I bought this pump kinda as a back up to my main pond pump. I don't like leaving my large, 3,500 GPM waterfall pump running when we go on vacation. I also don't want to totally shut down the filtration so I bought this smaller pump - thinking I could swap them out before we leave town. Unfortunately, the new smaller pump did not fit because I had to stack up four adapters to get up to the 2" dia. pipe size and then the whole thing was too tall - but that was my problem. Once I did get that figured out - after we returned from vacation - the pump would not work. I even tried the pump in my kitchen sink. Just a little water would gurgle out occasionally. By this time the return period had expired. I disassembled the pump - but there were no problems there. I think I just got a bad one. The price is great, so I might try ordering a new one. I'd like to update this review: The manufacturer of the pump saw my review here and contacted me and said they wanted to send me a replacement pump free of charge. They sent a new pump and I am happy to say it works very well. It appears to pump more than the rated 1056 GPH. I have another pump that is rated at 900 GPM and this pump delivers a much greater volume of water. It also has a fair amount of pressure - so the volume doesn't diminish a lot when pumping to the top of my waterfall. The pump has a valve at the inlet to adjust the volume of water - it seems to work pretty well. One piece of advice: When I first received this pump I tested it my kitchen sink - bad move - it blasted a column of water up to the ceiling and all over the floor - my wife happened to walk in right at that moment. Thanks to the manufacture for send me a new pump - even though the return period had expired. I would absolutely purchase again. Good customer service is tough to find these days. It is nice to work with a company that stands behind their products.

Amazing..
Amazing.... I was very skeptical to order this pump, but once it arrived, I was so happy I did. This pump is great and more than worth the money. Don't be afraid to purchase it. You won't be sorry. I opted to take the additional warranty out which was on a few dollars.. believe me when I say if your needing a pump and filter combo, please please consider this one! It's AWESOME!!!

Efficient and effective pump
So far, this pump is proving to be a great asset. We are using it on a 75 gallon fish tank with our sump. It is efficient and whisper quite with no vibrations at all. I cannot say it pumps 1056 GPH due to the fact I have no way of measuring that, however, our fish are happy and healthy and the water quality is very clear and clean. This leaves me to believe it is running as efficiently as Amazon states it should. The quality for the price cant be beat. We saw this exact pump in 2 other fish stores going for around $120. Buy this off of Amazon. You wont be disappointed!!!

Very powerful!
The GPM ratings for pumps like this are often wrong, and you have to look at the GPM/ft rise! I have a bronze fountain about 5 feet high and needed a new pump. This one was way too strong! I have had to shut it down at the inlet as much as possible, and it still shoots water out about 18" above the top of the fountain. The filter is an added benefit, need to clean it every couple weeks due to things falling in the fountain from mowing the lawn etc.

Nice, quiet pump, but I changed to a large filter
This is a nice, small, quiet pump, pumping water from my small pond 5 feet up to the waterfall. After reading all the reviews I concluded that I did not want to fool with cleaning the small filter very often, as many have complained about. My previous pump had a separate, very large filter attached to it (not part of that old pump) which I nearly never had to clean. So I took this new pump and my large filter to the local plumbing store and bought some simple PVC tubes that I cut and Gorilla glued on to the new pump. (There is no provision on this pump to easily attach anything to the input port.) Once the PVC tubes were attached to the input port (after removing the small filter) I simply attached my large filter to it. Works great now and don’t need to think about frequent filter cleaning, if ever! Contrary to some others’ wrong statements, this filter *does* have a flow adjustment valve. Recommended, if you add a large filter.
