Toss it in the Wash
I wanted a bath mat like they have in hotels that's more like a small towel for the floor and easy to toss in the wash to clean. That's just what this one is. It has a quality substantial feel, and it feels soft and warm underfoot. It does wrinkle a little after washing, but I suppose that is to be expected with any terrycloth material. For those prone to tripping easily, that might be a concern. I notice that some people seem concerned about the lack of a rubberized backing. I have tiled floors and have had no problem with this mat wanting to slip or slide when I step out of the shower onto it.

I've used this exact kind of mat for years and like it.
I like it. It's like a thick towel, but the size of a mat. It's great to step onto, out of the shower/bath. It isn't slippery on my tile bath floor, it easily stays in place without a rubber back. I'm elderly and need to be extra cautious about falling. I have no worry with this mat. I bought it to replace another exactly like this, so you could say I've used it for years, with no problems. Washable, just like a towel. I don't want a rug in front of my tub/shower, so this I drape over the tub to dry and pull the shower curtain closed and my bath looks neat as a pin.

Just be aware that it is what it is
Just be aware that it does not have a non skid surface and that it's a really soft, plush towel surface on both sides. So if you are careful about getting in and out of the tub, or you put a non skid rubberized mat underneath it, you should be okay. I like it because the color is a deep true navy blue. And it is really soft and thick. It is cushioned very well and that's probably why I'm okay with the surface being slippy on the bottom. It's great if you just need to keep your feet dry after walking out of the tub. Both surfaces are a soft, plush, cushiony towel mat. There is no backing or nonskid surface to this mat. We love it.

Excellent bath mat without a nonslip backing!
As someone who doesn't appreciate products being "marked down" for a feature that they don't claim to have, I knew I had to write a review for these bath mats! Do they have a nonslip backing? No! But it clearly states that information in the product description. I prefer these towel-like bath mats over those with the nonslip backing because they are much easier to just throw in the laundry with your towels. And the nonslip variety can quickly become gross, in my opinion. I purchased similar bath mats of another brand over the summer and I've been very happy with the daily use of this type of bath mat. I have two teenage boys and I was initially worried about someone slipping when they stepped out of the shower. You have to try pretty hard to slide these across the floor. We've been using this type of bath mat in three different bathrooms for 6 months and no one has ever come close to slipping. If you're worried, it's understandable but trust me, you should just give them a try. As far as this Amazon Basic mat is concerned, they appear to be high quality and look like they'll hold up to many washings. I'll update this post if necessary in the future. The Amazon Basic mat, compared to the other brand I purchased over the summer, appears to be more plush and therefore is more "comfy" to step out onto after the shower. But this may be because my other mats have been washed many, many times over the past 6 months and have lost some of their plushiness!

Not a rug
This is just what I wanted, a true bathmat, not a rug. I prefer these over rugs because they can be tossed in the washer and dryer with the towels, and they are nice and absorbent. This one in particular, in white, is much heavier than I expected. If you need a non-slip mat, though, don't get this. This is an extra heavy piece of cotton terry cloth, not designed to be left on the floor.

Very nice bath/shower mats.
I replaced 4 Pinzon bath mats of the same size that wore out on their edges after years of washing. The fields were still heavy and excellent, but after years of perfection the hems "melted" away as fluff rather rapidly. The Pinzon mats were no longer available, so I replaced them with these. Very similar in size and thickness, The AmazonBasics are a little lighter so they dry faster which means they should wear more slowly on their hems. They fold nicely and lay flat, but not quite as smoothly flat as the Pinzon. After quite a few washes, I have examined the hems under magnification and I believe they will last at least as long as the Pinzon version. They produce less lint in the drier, although I cannot provide quantitative evidence of this.

Exactly as listed, great deep color, and very absorbent.
This was exactly what I expected, which makes it perfect for us. The listing clearly states it’s a towel-type mat, and it is indeed. A thick type, and the inner ‘border’ does a lot to class it up. I have a situation where one door is too close to the floor so I couldn’t use a “real” bath mat. This fits perfectly in that situation and does what I wanted. Stitching is sturdy and even, no folds, lumps, skips, or flaws. The material is a nice, soft cotton. It’s easier to wash and dry than a rubber-backed mat. I do dry it on medium heat so it doesn’t shrink. Has good thick loops so is great at sucking up the water, and dries a lot more quickly than rubber-backed does. Excellent color, too, very rich (I’d call it more cobalt than navy, though). I’m good about updating if anything pops up. Any questions, feel free to comment or email.

Exactly what I wanted
I bought a fancy stupid “hotel” esque bathmat. Well came time to wash it. Damn thing almost broke my washing machine. It was garbage night. I took the fifty pound, wet waste of money and threw it right in the trash. This one however is perfect. It’s a bathmat, plain and simple, easy to wash. If you have a top load washing machine, buy this, the fancy ones will beat the hell out of your washer.

I do not like the plastic trays that go under dish racks
I do not like the plastic trays that go under dish racks. No matter what kind I have bought, or how expensive they are, they always look awful within six months, and no matter how big they are there is always water on the counter. Yuck. I looked for bathmats I could wash weekly that would serve the purpose and finally found these. I wanted something that would not curl up, with no rubber backing, that was totally washable and dryable, that would wear well and look good over time, and be highly absorbent. These are beautiful. I bought black and you can't tell they are there. I have two I alternate, one of the counter, one in the wash. I don't use them as bath mats because I like a really big one and just use towels, but if they had this in a towel size I would buy two for bathmats as well.

Just what I wanted!
I was looking for a bath mat that would be easy to clean, as our bathroom has a tendency to accumulate moisture and mold. This bath mat is great. Just thick enough that it's cushy on the feet. Doesn't have any rubber grippers or anything, but still seems to stay put quite nicely so you're not sliding around. Very soft and cushy to the feet. And it soaks up moisture quite nicely, so the floor is staying dry. And whenever I want, I just throw it in the washer and dryer and it's nice and clean! Love it. Even better than expected.
