Value for Money if pH matters to you...
My background is as a lab scientist, and pH was always critical using meters costings $1,500 - $4,000. The main problems with meters are - accuracy and drift. Use Case - we breed freshwater shrimp, so our conditions are freshwater with total dissolved solids of 200-250 and pH is important to shrimp breeding. Accuracy - the only real way to test accuracy is from the calibration solutions - this little beauty was easy to calibrate and you test accuracy after calibration by switching from one test solution to another and look for consistency (to and from 7.00 and 4.00). Drift - this is how stable the reading is - we adjust pH while having the meter in the solution - if it drifts, your reading is meaningless. This meter was very stable at constant pH and Temperature. Hints: This is temperature compensated, but the temperature probe is very slow - give it time to reach a constant temperature reading before trusting the pH reading. Do not try and read pH over more than 20-30 min before returning the probe to the KCl storage solution for at least 20 min - this will protect the probe and give more consistent readings (prolonged exposure outside the storage solution may degrade the probe). Overall - it's a bunch of cash compared to the pen-type meters, but you may as well dip your finger into a solution and guess whether it feels acidic or alkaline as use a pen-type meter, so if pH matters - I would buy this one - had it for 4 months, take care of it and it will do the job.

Second unit purchased
Purchased for use in a brewery to test wort and cleaning pH. I've used Milwaukee in the past, but this unit is amazing! Compact, reliable, easily calibrated, and quick readings. Bonus is you can get replacement tips, which Apera is releasing upgraded tips before the end of 2018 for more accurate readings and zero bubble. Pros: Backlight Clear numbers and display Great storage case Replacement probes available Waterproof Temp corrected Cons: Bubbles can form, but a quick swirl will eliminate this As a whole, I'm very impressed with the unit and will purchase more should I need additional units. They also have a full line of additional products for a variety of needs, including calibration and storage solutions. I recommend this unit over the less expensive PH20 simply for the ability to replace the probes, higher accuracy, and larger pH range.

Been using for several months now to measure mash pH and....
I love it. Great pH meter, sooooo much better than the Milwaukee pH56 I had previously. Calibration is easy and straight forward, just read the instructions. The one thing to note that isn't exactly super clear in the instructions is once you do the first step calibration at 7pH, when you hit calibrate again it's looking for the 4pH solution. At first I thought you might have to choose which solution to calibrate to next but it knows automatically. So you just go through the calibration steps twice, first for 7 then for 4. It comes as a kit so you can use it right from the get-go as it has two small bottles of calibration solution and one small electrode storage solution bottle. Be sure to store the kit so that the PH meter is standing upright! That will allow the probe to stay fully submerged in the storage solution. With my old meter I used to have to put a piece of tape around where the cap meets the body as the solution would evaporate. Well, this unit has a rubber o-ring that seals the cap so I don't need to do that anymore. I've used this now over about 10 brews and am very happy with this meter and company. They also have a full solution kit here on Amazon that has big bottles of all three solutions for what I consider to be a good price.

AWESOME!!
We have a hydroponics set up and have been getting along with the cheapo pH meters you find on amazon. One day, it slipped and fell into some water and it was goodbye. I decided to look for a fully waterproof meter and I love Apera's! I used to have a Hanna meter as well but the probe stopped working within a year and I wasn't about to spend almost $100 on a replacement probe. Though this meter is more complex than the cheapo meters, the instructions are SOOOO straightforward and easy to understand. The case it comes with includes a lanyard, storage solution, calibration solutions, AND calibration containers that are air-tight. You can keep calibrating for 10-15 times with the same solution! AMAZING! The whole set is extremely well put together. You can tell the meter itself is of a great quality - nice backlight feature, solid and durable housing, and o-rings everywhere to prevent water from entering. Calibrating is EASY too. It works with multiple calibration solutions and automatically senses which one you're using. There are also a ton of other features like alarms for high and low values, measurement hold, and choice of pH buffer. GRAB THIS GREAT DEAL!!! It may seem a little pricey but the quality, ease of use, and practicality are unmatched. I just got this so time will tell if it lasts, but I am ecstatic about my purchase! :)

Quality pH Meter, Full Kit
Purchased this tester for my home brewing. Can't be more happy about it. I have everything I need for an accurate pH test in its portable case (a very nice and sturdy one). I never have to make the buffer by my own using those powders. They are already prepared. The readings become stable pretty fast, in about 30 seconds. I can tell they come pre-calibrated, since it reads 7.05 and 3.96 in the ph 7 and 4 buffers. And finally I don't have to use a screw driver to do the calibration (I have bought several cheap meters in the past and found it was totally a waste of money). How ridiculous is that. Plus its colorful screen is pretty awesome, telling me straight forwardly whether it's in a measuring mode or a calibration mode. Gonna stick with this brand for my water testing.

Worth every penny!
I recently started my second indoor grow season and found myself fed up with cheap pH meters that never seemed to calibrate right or break after just a few uses. I decided to give Apera's pH meter (AI311 PH60) a try and immediately noticed the difference in quality and reliability. In fact, I just recently purchased Apera's PPM meter (EC60) because of how impressed I am with the product/pricing. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a reliable meter without having to spend hundreds of dollars!

I would like to give it more than 5 stars
I have had PH meters from Hanna and others over the years, but this one is special. First and foremost, I found the meter to be accurate. Now we get to those special things I haven't seen before: 1. Calibration solution comes in a bottle, not packets. Calibration solution can be reused. 2. Storage solution comes in a bottle, and can be viewed when PH meter is stored there. The plastic Meter cap is clear. No more guessing if meter is dry. 3. Calibration is simple, testing is simple, storing is simple, and putting in the case is simple :) 4. Speaking of the case, sturdy, functional, and it looks great, too. You can store everything in the case, including meter with probe in storage solution. 5. There is a phone number for support. I called and Joy was extremely helpful and pleasant. The only thing that could use a bit of improvement is opening the seal on calibration and storage bottles. A lip extension on the seal would be ideal. However, with all else meeting or exceeding my expectations, I give it 9 (nine) stars instead of 10. I am being picky there taking off a star for that, so I'll change it to 10 stars because that's what this unit truly deserves.

A Quality Instrument with AUTOCAL and Fine Resolution
This probe told me a shocking story - my pool ph was a few tenths greater than those $10 pool test kits (8.0 full scale) , as well as the pool store meter. I have a difficult time judging those low end chemistry set results. (Maybe the better ones use titration; but the resolution is still very lumpy) Nothing like an easy to read digital scale with 0.01 resolution. PROS: Calibration is nearly automatic - no screwdrivers - and it auto detects the range of buffer being applied. Don't have to calibrate often, acceptable price range. [ I was concerned about keeping the bulb wet in storage and not destroying the other bulb in the 5-function PC60, so I opted for this simpler model. I also got the Salt20 device, and the total did not exceed the cost of the single PC60 unit.] The resolution of 0.01 takes 10x the uncertainty out of the picture compared to a unit of 1/2 this price. CONS: user manual could be a little better written as other reviewers have stated. We'll see how it holds up .. looks like a quality product. I let the probe stand in the KCL solution for about 1 hr before I calibrated this. I performed a 2 point calibration to get the hang of it before use. Now that I keep the probe in the solution 24/7, I will recall soon.

Easy to use and works great
I just upgraded from one of the cheap rectangular pH meters, and very glad I did. This one comes with a nice looking case that does a good job of protecting and organizing the meter and buffer solutions. I was initially concerned about the calibration bottles leaking, but they seem to be staying sealed, even when stored on their side. It would have been nice if the case had been designed such that the meter and all five of the liquid containers were all in the same orientation to keep the probe tip submerged in the storage solution AND prevent spilling of the buffer solutions...but like I said, I haven't seen any leaks yet. I was waffling between the PH60 and the PH20 "combo kit" that includes extra buffer solutions and a storage tray for the calibration containers, since the price was very similar. I am glad I ended up getting this one though. The backlight really helps read the display better in most lighting conditions. I also like that I can replace just the probe tip every couple years instead of having to throw the whole thing away. Having a case the stores the meter itself as well as both the buffer solutions and the calibration bottles is really nice as well. It's a very compact, professional-looking kit. My only real complaint is that unfortunately the case uses molded hinges instead of pin hinges, so they will eventually wear out. When the hinges do wear out, I'll just buy one of those small hard-sided cases that come with perforated foam blocks that allows you to customize it for any shaped item. That will also solve the problem of having the meter and the containers in different orientations. All in all, I really like this meter for all-grain beer brewing and would recommend it to anyone either looking for a first-time or for upgrading their existing cheap pH meter for that purpose.

Very Nice pH Tester & Supplies.
I had bought a less expensive pH tester and learned my lesson: you get what you pay for. I never even got to use it before it broke. The Apera PH60 is in a whole other ball game. For the price this unit is very nice. You get everything you need to start out (even the batteries) and I really like how it adapts to the temp of the liquid I'm measuring. The hard plastic case with foam inserts should keep the tester and supplies in good shape for years to come. And learning how to use the PH60 is no problem with the instructions that are in the case and the videos that are at Apera's website. One neat thing Apera does is include in the case along with the paper instructions are instructions on a laminated card so it can be taken out in damp environments and will not be destroyed. I would defiantly recommend the PH60 for easy pH testing.
