I already owned a motion pro breaker... all the press pins were broken and I could only rivet with it. Side by side.. they are identical quality and size. Only this one comes with all size attachments. I used it to take off a 530 chain in good condition... worked perfectly. Very good tool. Can't wait to put it back on using the riveted

It is what it is... does the job very well for the price you pay but there are better (more sturdy) tools available. If you have a motorcycle shop, you should buy the expensive ones. I swap my chain once every three or four years so it's perfect for me. Easy to use and comes with all the supplements for braking the old one and riveting your new chain.

Based off of the other reviews, i was 90% certain i was going to break this tool upon riveting my new chain, i bought 2 just in case. This tool worked great and was pretty easy to use after doing a couple hours of research on everything that could go wrong with the job and then taking the necessary precautions (using an angle grinder to break the chain and a digital caliper to measure the rivet flair in order to prevent over-riveting)

Worked perfectly for my job. This tool will accomplish your chain replacement job, if you are careful. I just replaced my chain using this tool about a month ago. I ground down one of the rivet heads on the old chain then popped it apart using this chain breaker. It came apart without any problems. Then, got the new chain on and riveted it together. Part of the success was being meticulous. Tighten it up, back it off and double check, and repeating until perfect. You don't want the rivet to be too tight or too loose, you pretty much only have one go at it, so again, back it off and double check in doubt. All in all I was happy with the tool. No instructions, but you can look up online how to use a chain breaker/riveter tool. It came in a nice plastic box to keep all the little parts organized. Even the threads on the tool came pre-lubricated. I can see how the tool could be damaged if you're not extra careful. As long as you're diligent and double check your work, the little extra time spent goes a long way. If you need to change more than 1 chain a year, I might recommend spending the little extra money. There's always a right tool for a job. I had to do my chain but didn't seem like it was necessary to spend $100+ on a tool I would rarely use. This one worked just fine. 100+ miles already on my new chain. Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm usually pretty busy and don't leave reviews unless it was a great product worth mentioning.

I had zero problems managing to replace the chain on my 2014 VStrom. After my first 3 attempts at finding a mechanic I could trust failed, I decided to learn how to do my own work. I have never even considered the construction of a MC chain. As such I was surprised how simple the whole process of replacing one was using the ABN Chain Breaker tool. I did watch a couple online videos before I started in earnest. From start to finish I invested a less than an hour of a Saturday between watching the video and replacing the chain. As others said before, if you make a living replacing chains this tool may wear out too soon for you. For guys like me who need to use it once a year or so, this is a functional tool that stores well in its case. I believe with careful use, the ABN Chain Breaker/Rivet tool will be a lifetime tool for my use and occasionally that of a friend's.

I bought this knowing I wanted to replace the chain on my motorcycle. I did this maintenance over the weekend and here is the review on the chain breaker tool. The shipping was fast and came on time and the price was much better then the other competitors I saw on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found all items in their own location in the box and marked for easy understanding of each part. The tool itself and parts all felt solid and heavy for their size. Here is my only complaint; there was no paper direction in the box on how to properly use the tool. It is not straight forward as using a hammer and there are a few parts that have to be put together based on the job you want to do. That said I was able to look at the companies attached document on-line and get directions for use. Defiantly a great tool I plan to have for a long time. Well worth it.

I've used a couple of cheaper chain breakers that are meant for bicycle chains but are supposed to accommodate 415 chain as well (motorized bicycle) and all of them tend to barely hold the chain and strip the threads when trying to press out the pin. Not with this tool, this is extremely robust and well built. The interchangeable pins are very strong and breaking a 415 chain took just a few moments along with very little effort. My only regret is not buying this sooner.

After reading multiple reviews of this same tool from different brands, it seemed that no matter if you picked the $120 tool or the $20 one, there were still folks that said they broke it the first try. So I figured I'd try this one. It worked great. I did take heed to the complaints of other consumers and I made sure to rub some lithium grease on the threads. Worked great and still in the toolbox ready for the next time I need to do a chain job. Very happy.

Overall it did everything it was supposed to do. I'd probably give it 4.5 stars since the metal may not be the highest quality, but it did do everything I needed to take off the old chain and put a new one on. It is true there is no instruction manual, but I honestly think most people would do better watching one of the many you tube videos available how to use this tool anyway. You'll hear two different views when it comes to breaking the chain. Some say grind it down so you can push out the link easier. Some say don't grind it down so the tool will fit over the link you're trying to push out. I ground it down so I could push it right out, which it did. This is the time to be careful though. A lot of people report the metal pin breaking. I took the extra few minutes to ensure the push pin was exactly lined up with the link and slowly pushed the pin a little at a time to make sure the pin was pushing the link out. In other words, only have the push pin on the link being pushed out and not any other part of the chain. If it's lined up correctly, there should be a much better chance the pin won't break. Once you know it is starting to push the link out, it is easy to line the push pin into the indented hole and push it the rest of the way out. As for putting on the master link, one video had a good idea of using a caliper to measure the distance (thickness) of a regular link. As you use the tool to install the new link on, just squeeze it a little at a time to get it to the same thickness as the regular links. You don't want to over-tighten the master link. If you feel this tool is something you may only use a handful of times in your life, it certainly does the trick.

Used this to replace my chain on my 04 GSX-R1000. No problems. I googled how to use chain riviting tools on the net along with a few replacement chain videos. Tool worked fine.
