• The cold press finish has a light texture and is the most common. It reflects light well, retaining the transparent quality of watercolours. A light grain makes it easier to achieve certain details
  • All Arches papers are cylinder mould made as they have been for over a century. With long fibers, this thick, stable sheet is beautiful, durable, and resillient.
  • Each sheet of Arches Watercolour is tub-sized in a bath of pure natural gelatin and then air dried to add additional strength and durability
  • The best quality control. Our paper undergoes sophisticated testing and monitoring, with every sheet individually inspected to assure the finest quality
  • Contains one pad with 12 sheets, 300 GSM

Arches paper is always wonderful. No problem there. But it was $10 cheaper at Jerrys Artarama nad they had no shopping charges. $10 is a big difference for exactly the same thing.

This was my first time using Arches paper. I had high expectations and they were certainly met. I specifically like the thickness and rigidity of this paper. It's doesn't warp or buckle as badly as many other papers that I have used. It holds up very well to tons wet washes, scrubbing and multiple glazes. It's also slower to wick away the moisture than other papers that I've used, which I prefer as it increases the working time of the paint and since I live in a warm environment I need every advantage in that regard. I've tried a couple of mixed media and watercolor papers, never 100% cotton. They're fine enough, and I'll keep using them, but I kept hearing about Arches. From painters raving about it, to reviewers using it as a benchmark to compare other papers to, the name Arches seemed synonymous with the best watercolor paper. Seeing as someone important to me wanted a painting for her mother I thought I might as well do the gift the justice of being done on the right paper. So I gladly splurged on Arches. Unless something better comes along I will I always keep Arches on hand for my best work.

Just the best. You're worth it. Your art is worth it. Takes many layers of watercolor, scrubbing, easily stretched. I'm still searching for a smaller size for travel, and if I can't find it, I'll just cut this down or order loose sheets.

I normally don't write Amazon review. BUT, this paper is amazing! Very absorbent, color turns out to be great too!

This is nice thick paper that doesn't curl when used. Each sheet has a smoother side and a rougher side depending on how you want to paint. My instructor who sells his art uses this and recommends this. It comes in different dimensions.

The best about this paper is it is the only paper I have found to ink/sponge blend Ranger Tim Holtz Distress inks. Ink blends beautifully! I would love to have the same quality in a whiter paper. But I am thoroughly enjoying ink blending. Whereas before, I absolutely hated working with the inks. I could never get a smooth blend with which I was satisfied.

Was pretty sceptical about purchasing but still ended up taking the chance. Since I only use pencils and graphite I was serching for a paper that would be able to properly absorb the medium for the layers of depth needed to create realistic work. I can assure you this paper will not dissapoint. I was simple blown away by the difference paper would make in creating more realistic pieces. 100/5 stars would buy Arches FOREVER!!! ig iamkingmigu3l

I kept reading Arches paper is the best. I sure feel the dif bet it and other papers. I initially received the Cold Press pad. I loved it so much I'm keeping it. Then re-ordered and got hot press. I love to do a lot of surface work. My background is crafts: exhibited in weaving, cloth, woodwork, jewelry in college. Scraping, layering, using salt and other things really appeals to me. My research kept leading me to Arches for intense texturing of the kind which excites me. I bought 140 lb cold press Strathmore and it barely took moving paintbrush back and forth. I needed stronger paper, same weight. I also read many prefer the smoother surface for watercolor. Colors brighter. So now I've both pad to play with. Good stuff!

This is my first time to use hot press paper. I love that the texture is more smooth than the watercolor paper I have used in the past. It is able to hold so many layers and still look great. I will be keeping some of this on hand for my "fancy" projects as it is a bit more expensive than the regular 140 lb Canson cold press paper I usually buy.

I use this paper for drawing with graphite. The back side of this paper has a fine tooth and withstands a lot of erasure. The color is less yellow than Strathmore, and weightier. I'm impressed. Wish it were not so expensive.
