fantastic little splitter

fantastic little splitter. I have split three cords of wood and the splitter is everything it was advertised as. I get my wood split but I purchased a new stove and the wood is just too big for my stove. I use this splitter to take the wood down to about a 2 by 2 size. The splitter splits all of it, even when there is a large knot. I just split around the knot and have had not trouble. A great machine for what I needed.

great for the money

great for the money. just did my second years wood with it. so it has done 4 or 5 full cords. I would not suggest cutting a full cord strait with no breaks, she gets hot, take a beer break. Its showing wear but im pushing its limits on log diameter.

My husband is very impressed with this machine, says it has saved him so many hours in splitting time. Works great just as described. would defiantly purchase another when this one is finished, but I think we may have this one for quite a few years its a strong machine.

We have a ton of wood to cut. Actually, a lot more than a ton. We just moved to a new house last year and it was surrounded by trees, with many hanging over the house. We're clearing them back from the house and creating a yard for our daughter, which is producing a whole lot of wood for our wood stove. I started out splitting with an axe. I got about a half cord done and realized I had barely made a dent in my pile. This is so much nicer. I can cut the logs to length and my wife can split them with this. It's not so powerful that it'll split anything, but we mostly have oak and we let the logs dry a bit before attempting to split and this makes quick work of them. It has struggled splitting some softer/greener wood, but that's to be expected for the size and price.

Best value I could find

I have now split a few cords of wood with this tool. I am using it only on pine and aspen, both soft woods, that are very dry and 15 inches or less. It splits about 99 percent in the first try and 100 percent within a few attempts. I suspect that if one had to split large hardwood logs it would not be up to the task. I initially was not very happy with the fact that one must use two hands to operate the splitter, but this is actually a pretty good safety feature as it forces me to be in a position where I am never in the path of the split wood that is often thrown with an impressive force off of the right side of the tool. If one is to use this tool for an extended period of time the fact that it sits so low would be a problem. I built a low table, like a wide sawhorse, to put the splitter on. The wheels would be cheap on a children's toy wagon; I don't expect them to work for very long. Otherwise, the tool seems to be well made. Works very well. At slightly over two hundred bucks this was the best value I could find.

Auto return, and filled with oil.

Works great, even better than expected. Two button operation is a little annoying but keeps your hands safe, great auto return, and came already filled with hydraulic fluid. I had worked with someone else's small log splitter and it inspired this purchase. I would have maybe bought a different on on Amazon with a stand but really like this one. One person can lift it into your car or pickup, go to your friends and split wood with them also.

for the money, good deal

this is the same 6 ton splitter sold by WEN. had it 3 years and works great but not for dried hard wood. depending on your need this can be a good deal. I split 2 cords a year of 1 year old almond 4 to 8 inch rounds. 99 % of logs split fine but some with knots will not split very easy. I had some real old hard almond and it could not split it. this works great for my needs but I do not try to split large rounds. do not buy the 7 ton Orion Motor Tech splitter !!!! payed $286.60 for one and it never worked !!! I got $180 refund and got to keep the useless splitter !!!! brand new and very cheaply made and never did work, kept blowing circuit breaker and ram would not return after splitting a log !!!

wise-up! This one does what all the rest of them do

Ten day delivery, but well worth the wait. Save $50.00 or more and receive a strong six ton spliter nothing to do except put on the wheels. It moves with little effort, and stores in an upright position. about 12 X 18 inches of space. Bart

Check for all parts needed to assemble splitter because if it continues to be shipped in a cardboard box it will be damaged.

So far this splitter seems to be a good one. Have not used it much yet. Packaging leaves something to be desired. Came in a cardboard box with styrafoam inserts around machine. Box was,as to be expected,in a shambles,however the splitter was not damaged. In that sort of packaging,it was a miracle for the splitter to not be damaged. Wheels,wheel attaching nuts,and cotter pin were scattered all throughout the container,but found them all. Would recommend much better packaging for an item of this type.
