One of our five dogs has very severe allergies. We tried everything - the prescription diets (including Purina EN, Science Diet, etc), the all naturals (various brands) and almost everything that was potentially an option. (We tried it the correct way - not just a one day, see what happens test, but followed correct allergic veterinary protocol for change in diet). This is the only dog food she seems able to tolerate. Additionally, one of her puppies had issues with food also, and despite everything, including a long period of hospitalization, was failing to maintain sufficient weight. Once we switched her to this food also, she began to thrive. We've very happy with this food and consider it an actual lifesaver.

I don't normally write a lot of reviews, but for this product, I felt I needed to make an exception. When I explain why I am so happy with this product, I think anyone who loves their dog will understand. I currently have three dogs in my home. Two of them belong to my husband and me and the third is a 14-15 year old foster named Frankie. We have had Frankie for over two years now. At this point we are convinced he is with us to stay. Frankie's story is sad. He had been found on the side of a busy road bloody and broken. I went to where he was being cared for, to foster another dog, and when I saw Frankie, I had to take him too. The other dog was adopted a week later and Frankie has been here since. Frankie is a Pekingese. I am convinced that someone must have poured something over his back. He is completely bald on his back and neck. Unfortunately he has the worst skin I have ever seen on a dog. For the past two years we have been to two different vet offices. We've tried numerous treatments (holistic as well as prescription). We've tried different oils, creams, and shampoos. This poor little guy was getting three baths a week because of the blood and scales that constantly formed on his body. I was almost ready to just give up and accept that there was nothing that could be done for this poor dog. All I could do is try to keep him as comfortable as possible. Now, for the happy ending... I just happened to find this Pro Plan Focus on Amazon. I wasn't sure if it would work, but, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Frankie has been on this new food for about a month now and the results are absolutely amazing. We are down to giving Frankie only one bath a week now and his skin is looking absolutely fantastic! I know he will never grow hair on his back or neck (I make him wear a shirt at all times just to keep his skin protected), but, I am amazed that the scales have not formed anymore and there is no more bleeding. He has even started to act like a dog for the first time since we have had him in our home. He actually runs and plays. For the entire time he has been in our home his activity level has been blinking. Thank You Purina Pro Plan Focus for this amazing miracle food. Our other dogs have always eaten Purina Pro Plan. I wish the Focus was in our stores. I will just have to keep getting it through Amazon.

To preface, I do my research AT LENGTH regarding everything with my 9yo lab. So if you're a dog lover, please take my recommendation for what it is. My dog, Moose, LOVES this food. He has been eating it for years and hasn't had any stomach issues. Previously, I would have to change up his dry food to keep him interested but he can't have enough of this kibble. Moose used to have dandruff and was an itchy pup. Now, Moose still has the dandruff and wouldn't pass on someone scratching his rush BUT definitely not itchy anymore. We had to cut the portion back a by half because this food, the Wellness canned food, and treats made Moo gain too much weight. He has lost 25 pounds since and never looked better! I think it makes him a little gassy but is it weird that I don't mind because they're odorless?

Affordable grain, corn, soy free dog food! I'm happy to finally find an affordable salmon dog food! I've tried to find the perfect meal for my dog who has food allergies and is a picky eater. She really likes it and I don't have to worry about her allergies since salmon helps her skin. pros: -cheaper by $3-4 then Petco and PetSmart -grain,soy and corn free -good size for the price -easy monthly delivery to my house -my dog loves this food -great for dogs who are allergic to other meats -cookie size is eatable for small and large dogs This is the only dog food my dogs like and they say it's awesome!

I was buying Natural Balance Chicken all stages and they changed the formula to Puppy or Adult, well my dogs being adult, Obviously I bought that, My dogs turned their noses away from it, tried their Duck version, gave my dogs such bad tummy problems, I have been feeding my dogs , current and past, NB since the dawn of time. So I bought this, I didn't bother to switch the boys over slowly as cleaning up liquid poop 10 times a day, I figured this couldn't be any worse, and WOOOLAH, after the third feeding, second day, their tummy problems, which also included rancid gas, cleared right up and now we ahve been on this formula for a month, my dogs love it, no tummy troubles and my Lab stopped sneezing all the time!! I was worried it would give them horrific fish breath and it does not, I can smell it when they are eating it , but after that its all good. So grateful for this food!

We originally had him on Nutrisource Large Breed Adult and that worked well but the impossibility of finding a local store that carries it should we need it quickly became a problem, so we switched to Purina. We also wanted to introduce him to Vitapet Probiotic Powder Blend For Dogs and Cats with 5 Billion CFU Per Serving because he was having digestive issues. Not only does Jackson gobble this up it it's almost totally cleared up his vomiting and upset stomach. We're sticking with Vitapet.

I have a 3 year old Doberman and all his life he has been battling skin allergies. Over the years I've taken him to a regular vet, a vet dermatologist and various breeders. All of their recommendations failed to clear his breakouts and itchy skin. After spending over $110 per 25 lb. bag of "prescribed-only through a vet" dry dog food for over a year, I found that it didn't help and it often gave him diarrhea. After reading the description for Purina Pro Plan Focus Sensitive Skin & Stomach, I decided to give it a try. It worked. After six weeks, his skin had cleared and the food agreed with his sensitive stomach. Janus has been eating the food for a about a year now and continues to thrive. No dog food works for all dogs, but if you have similar problems, I would give it a try.

My two year old Dalmatian has always shown signs of having a sensitive stomach, but I never quite knew what to do about it. When I tried to give her the scientific formula foods she turned her nose up and would rather starve herself than eat dry food. I always ended up adding some wet food to get her to eat. The recently I discovered this food. I ordered a bag of dry and a case of the Pro Plan wet. I started feeding her just the dry food and she gobbled it up. It's been nearly three weeks now and she has eaten the dry food at every feeding, and she loves it. Moreover, she is not showing any signs of sensitive stomach or digestive distress. I am totally sold on Purina Pro Plan!

I am a veterinarian and my dog has been on this food without issue for the past 5 years. His coat is beautiful and no digestive issues ever. The Purina factory in my state (CO) has impeccable quality control (staff has visited), and this company backs its products with actual objective data of its efficacy. All dogs are different and if a dog maintains good body condition with no digestive issues or signs of allergy (itchiness, ear infections, anal gland issues) there is absolutely no reason why he/she needs to eat a grain/gluten/soy free/raw diet etc. If your dog is doing well on a diet like this, great! Whatever works. I am too busy to debate on this post so no point in arguing here. :)

This dog food is amazing. Our dog had extremely sensitive skin and would react (turning red, itching and loosing hair) to just about everything (grass, carpet, new shampoo, flea treatments, etc.) We tried several different dog food brands and finally tried Purina Pro for Sensitive skin and stomach. The difference has been amazing, all of his hair has grown back, he no longer turns red and starts itching anytime he is in a new environment. At 6 years old we didn’t think he would even make it to 7. At 7 years old he is almost a puppy again. Thanks Purina!
