I keep this attached to a monopod (ecost Pro Series 72" Monopod, a steal for $10) and keep them in the back of my car, so they're always close. There have been a lot of sunsets where I haven't had a camera ready (or I've had a camera, but the batteries are dead) and this, along with the monopod, has allowed me to take sharper pictures. It also works well with a camera app that does HDR, like Open Camera.

This review is for the Ulanzi Tripod Mount/Vertical Bracket. I got this because it has both vertical and horizontal positions and because it was inexpensive ($7.95). I have it paired with an Ultra-Pod II mini tripod, and the two together make a sturdy platform for my iPhone 7. Some of the reviews for this tripod mount talk about a cheesy metal on plastic threaded connection that easily fails. There are NO metal on plastic threaded fittings on this product. All threaded fittings are metal on metal, and the tripod mount fittings are metal inserts. I was pleased to see this, and I do not expect this product will break. I suppose the knob used to tighten the clamp on the phone could break if you overtighten, but there is no need to overtighten. The corrugated rubber clamping surfaces provide a very effective hold on the phone, so only a light tension is needed.

Solid Build and Secure

Compare this tripod mount to competing mounts that hold the phone with a 'spring loaded' clamp. You will quickly see the advantages of this screw down system. I have much more confidence in this 'hand tighten' clamp. This mount is very sturdy and solid yet reasonably light weight. I found the need for a tripod mount after the difficulty that I had taking night pictures of a volcano in Hawaii and just could not hand hold the phone steady enough to avoid some blurring.

Perfect for the price

PROS * Fits a wide range of phones. I have an iPhone 5 in a case and an iPhone 6+ in a case. Both fit. * Nicely made. It's plastic, yeah, but certainly strong enough to hold a phone. Brass thread inserts are good. * Portrait + landscape orientation. * You can pop out the plug in the rotational axis and reverse it so: 1) the foot points the "right" way, and 2) the screen isn't blocked. Less, uh, "detail-oriented" persons would simply point the mount the other way (like the pic in the listing), but I like this feature. CONS * Realistically, none, given the price, and its complete adequacy for the task at hand.

LOVE it!

THIS is a tripod mount that actually fits my phone! I have an iPhone 6-Plus, in an Otterbox Defender case, and this is actually BIG enough to use without removing the phone from the case! THANK YOU for making a tripod mount that ACTUALLY fits my phone, and feels sturdy as well!

Exactly what I needed!

I use this mount to hold my phone for shooting video. I've currently got it on a manfrotto suction cup mount that I use in the car or as a low-boy for getting under cars, or on the work bench. Easily fits my iPhone 6S+ in an OtterBox case. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for and I may order a few more as I do more videos so I don't have to take it off to go back and forth to the tripod. Good stuff.

Nice camera mount for tripod.

Order arrived in 6 days and in excellent condition. The unit has two adjustment knobs: one for clamping down on phone and the other for setting vertical/horizontal position. These are a must if you want to keep the shakes down in taking video or if the camera is used for timed-shutter photos. There are two 1/4 - 20 tripod attachments on the unit. Nice unit.

I love it

This is the best phone mount I've found, especially for the price. I purchased one a while ago and use it so much I bought two more for two other camera rigs I've got. Plus it's got a 1/4"-20 mount for a small LED light or other accessory. The quick ability to switch between portrait/vertical and landscape/horizontal shooting is awesome. It's sturdy, easy to adjust, and has a wide grip so it will work with virtually any phone and any case. Lightweight, too. I have zero complaints!

A good choice!

While I haven't actually put this to use yet, I have tried attaching my phone to it. I have a large screen phone (galaxy 8+) with a thick case and I was concerned that I would need to remove the case to use the mount. It fit fine in the case with room to spare. It feels very solid and the adjustments lock tightly.
