I purchased this mug because I like to make soup in my microwave for lunch. I am 77 and live alone.. Using it, I can prepare a nice lunch in 5 minutes. works well and I like it very much

I use this size mug to heat the healthy choice microwave soups. Some of the pop off metal soup cans are difficult for me to pull all the way off so I have started using this large size mug. It heats perfectly in the microwave and doesn't boil over like the medium size mug. I also use it for microwave mac and cheese that always boils over and makes a mess if I use the container it comes in. Instead I measure the water in the container it comes in then transfer it to this mug. I cook it for the recommended time without the lid and it cooks perfectly and never boils over. This is the perfect size mug for these types of meals. I need a large mug to keep them from boiling over. I like them so much I've ordered 2 more.

Most days I ride my bicycle to work. This kind of limits where I can go for lunch. Not a big deal I usually eat at my desk anyway. Until I started tossing some decent food in these, there were only two choices for lunch. Pack a sammich or eat the garbage at the bowling alley. Now I can put anything in these and toss it in my backpack without worry of a leak. My wife and I are good cooks, specializing is Asian Fusion (think Thai with Indian spices). Never had one leak yet. Bonus....when my coworkers pass my cube and get a wife of my lunch they start salivating.

For years I hated that whenever I had leftover soup, no matter how well I packed it in tupperware, it would always leak out on my way to work. This mug is amazing! I've used it multiple times and it's never leaked once, even when my lunch bag fell off my car seat onto the floor. It has a vented cap so you don't have to worry about steam burns when you take it out and it is very easy to clean. Definitely makes storing and heating up leftover soup for lunch at work a breeze!

I was a bit skeptical about these cups (I bought 2, a red and a pink one) because I did not buy them for soup but as some sort of transitional milk cups for my toddler daughter. She was used to drinking milk from bottles and we couldn't find anything convenient that could be tossed into the microwave in the morning and could be given to a sleepy toddler to hold right after. These cups, however, did the trick. They are easy to put in the microwave, great for milk, and awesome for a toddler to hold and drink with a straw. I haven't tried them for soup yet, but I'm sure they would do the work. In any case, I just ordered two more. Highly recommended.

These are great for heating chili, soup, etc., without a mess. I see some reviewers complain about a mess but I've never had one. These are extremely well made. They don't stain. They aren't hot when removing them from the microwave. Just an excellent product. And while they aren't made in the U.S.A (they're made in New Zealand), at least it isn't China (I wish Amazon would add a feature to search or filter for products made in the U.S.).

I have bought about dozen pieces of Sistema microwaveable containers and use them regularly with no problems. I have noticed a number of very negative reviews for these products; even from the company's native New Zealand. Most of these are about: 1. not being leak proof (Filling them with soup or other liquids and carrying them in lunchbags where they leak) 2. warping or bubbling when used in the microwave. If you are considering these products there are some things I think you should keep in mind: 1. Sistema microwaveable containers (mostly inred plastic) are NOT leak proof. They are made to be heated with the lids on. If they were leak proof they they would tend to explode from the steam pressure. I believe there are pyrex microwaveable leak proof containers but the instructions on them say the lids must be removed when heating. 2. In my opinion, plastic microwaveable containers are suitable for reheating water-based foods, steaming, or short-term boiling. I do not consider them as cookware. If you look on the bottom, the containers are rated as microwaveable to 240 degress F. (The storage containers are rated to 212 degrees F.) This means to me that they are essentially for steaming and heating to the boiling point of water. Tupperware has some guidelines for microwaving that say to avoid heating food containing OIL or SUGAR. Both oil and sugar will easily go over 300 degrees F. I believe that people who melt their plastic containers are trying to heat food high in oil and/or sugar and not enough water so it goes over the melting point of the plastic.

I use this for soup and oatmeal at work. I love that it cleans fairly easy, but it did leave staining when I put vegetable soup in it. I was prepared for that because it seems many plastic containers stain, but as long as it doesn't melt in the microwave I'm good. There are several lunch containers that became deformed when I put it in the microwave or in the dishwasher - I only do so when the product states that it is microwaveable or/and dishwasher safe. This one is sturdy so far and I use it at least 2 to 3 times a week. 5 stars overall, but I gave 4 for the cleaning because of the staining issue.

Well made, lids fits tight, and feels comfortable in my hands. Holds a large can of soup or chili. Cleans-up easily. Reheats coffee in the microwave quickly. All around I like this product. I bought two of them. However, the description above says it's good for popcorn, but the included instructions clearly states it's not to be used for popcorn. (And now that I've seen them up close I would not attempt to pop corn in them.) Now, I didn't buy them for popcorn, but you might have that in mind. So, heads-up!

Excellent purchase! I looked at a lot of similar products before I bought four of these to pack my lunch soup in for work through the fall and winter. So many others had a lid for microwaving, but the lids are loose-fitting and will spill in your lunch bag. I've had no leakage in my lunch bag, and the lid allows you to pop the vent and put it straight into the microwave. I wash the cups and lids in the top rack of the dishwasher with the heat dry on, and I've had no trouble with warping. It has been healthier and cheaper than other lunches I could pack, and certainly cheaper and healthier than going out. I buy a large soup (like Bear Creek mix), cook it, and put the week's soup portions in individual Sistema cups in the fridge, and then freeze the rest in individual portions in Tupperware. The following week, I just defrost the soup portions a little, and put them in the Sistema cups for that week. Usually one bag of $3.50 soup mix will last me 2 weeks — that's 6 lunches @ 58¢ each (I work 4 days a week, and have soup 3 of them.) The only minor sign of wear in four month's of use now is a slightly roughened surface on the inside of the cup at the line where the microwaved soup bubbles. About a couple years later: these wonderful soup cups have held up great! I take soup to work everyday in the winter, and I bought a couple more just so I have clean ones for the new week. Still, five stars!
