Worked excellent!

We bought these J-Bars for two kayaks that we put on top of our Rav 4. We did cut the bolts just slightly smaller so they would not leave groove marks in the roof if we bumped down the road too hard. But we drove from Great Falls Montana all the way through to the opposite side of the Grand Teton mountains and they didn't let us down in any way. I have several videos of us using them on my youtube channel "Life of Thrive". They will stay on our Rav for the rest of the summer and then we will pull them off for winter. But they fit great and we can even pull our car into the garage without hitting the garage door as we pull in! Get them!

Best for the money! If you actually read the reviews like I did you will be happy with these. The holes don't line up perfect, but with a tap of the hammer the bolts go in place fine. They lack instructions for assembly. There is a poorly printed photo to follow. This being said of you have a little knowledge of how to assemble stuff this won't stump you. I had all 4 J hooks assembled and on my truck in about an hour. They hold nice and once loaded with a kayak on each side they held just fine down the highway at 70MPH. These beat spending hundreds on a similar set up by the big name brands!! The straps it came with I was skeptical of until I got my hands on them, they are right for the job and easy to use.

I was nervous after reading the reviews. Don't be. These are great! No, all the holes didn't line up perfectly, my drill fixed that in a few seconds. The instructions are a simple, detailed drawing. A child should be able to understand how to put it together. I knew that these bars would fit my vehicle before ordering because I measured. That covers most of the bad reviews. Fits factory VW rack great! A "pair" of Yakima j-bars are $120, I call this a bargain! For $240, 2 pair of the others might have holes that line up a little closer. But I doubt it. Would buy again.

Pleased now have 700 plus miles on them

We now have 700 plus miles on these with kayaks attached. I did not use the supplied straps as I had ratchet straps available. These fit on our 2004 Honda Odyssey and were very sturdy. I think that higher profile luggage racks may have some issue, but these worked awesome for us. The angle was good, better than some that I have seen.

Works perfectly. Instructions for assembly could be better, but after you have done the first one its a breeze. Simple to install on vehicle and worked perfectly for transporting kayaks, used it to transport a 10ft and 17ft kayak without issue..

Perfect fit for Ford Explorer.

Using our roof rack and rachet straps, the tie down process took anywhere from 45-90 minutes. They were impossible to get just right. After a short assembly process, we had our kayaks up and strapped within 10 minutes. I may use my rachet straps instead of the supplied straps just for extra security. The supplied straps are great and held my kayaks securely but I'm not sure how well they would hold up at the beach in the salty air with what looks like galvanized material. These were well worth the money and I highly recommend these.

Great for the price!

Great for the price. We were hesitant at first,thinking they may slip out of the straps. Once we got to the lake we checked and the straps hadn't even moved an 1/8 of an inch! Love this!

This was my first time ever using a kayak rack, my boyfriend said they were kind of a pain in the butt to assemble but they went on the roof rack easily (GMC Envoy factory rack). We just drove 4 hours down and back for a trip without any problems whatsoever, at a speed of up to 75 mph on the interstate. Great for the price. We'll be getting another set for his Envoy as well. Recommend!

Cant beat it for the money!

They went together easy, took about 10 min per J bar. Easy to attach to truck. These will help me fit 2 kayaks and 2 paddleboards on my truck cap perfectly. Need to test straps more the 2 on the front seemed to loosen a little bit back held tight. Taking a longer trip next week. Easy to use but I will probably get ones with a protector so I don't scratch up anything. Very happy though.
