• This sound level meter is used to measure the sound level of sound equipment in Work and Life: such as factories, workshops, schools, residential, office areas, traffic roads, audio and other occasions. Also applies to noise engineering, product quality control, health control and so on.
  • The Protmex Noise Meter With the backlight feature, it is appropriate for gathering the sound data at night. To save power, backlight auto power off function is provided.
  • The Decibel meter utilizes a electric condenser microphone to monitor sound levels from 30 to 130 decibels at an accuracy of +/-1.5 dB with a 0.1 dB resolution. A and C weighting network selection.
  • Maximum (MAX) locking function; Digital display, good anti-interference performance, power saving
  • The Protmex sound meter weighs less than 7 ounces, and is designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand.

I like how this meter has a light. It works very well. Comes with a nice case. Very well built!

Works great for my purposes, which is non-scientific monitoring of occupational noise exposure.

Using checking hvac sound levels when homeowners say their units are too loud. I compare to factory literature

seems to work and in consistent just using it to calibrate my audio system

This sound meter works really well for what I use it for. I work in an industry that isn't particularly loud, but we still wanted to measure the decibels to ensure our employees were working in a safe environment with proper ear protection. The size and functionality of this meter allows us to take frequent measurements easily!

Update: After 10 months, bringing my rating up to 5 stars. A sturdy, solid performer. Although the concerns below are still valid, this meter represents great value for the money. Good features for the price, with a few issues. The good: Sturdy construction, has a good weight to it, unlike some others Both A and C weighting Auto ranging Back lit display Uses AAA batteries rather than expensive 9 volt Yellow color easy to find under low light conditions (on stage or at FOH) The not-so-good: Backlight button not consistant (sometimes turns on light, other times it takes a press or two) Front and back of injection molded casing different shades of yellow Unknown accuracy (all low priced, uncertified meters have this problem.Certified calibrated meters are too expensive for a hobbyist like me ;) No external calibration port Can be used for checking relative levels only. this meter could be off by 3 or 4 dB, who knows? A difference of 3 dB will halve the permissible exposure time: 85 dBA+ 8 hours 88 dBa = 4 hours per NIOSH recomendation/OSHA regs (all uncertified meters could have this problem) On the whole, a solid piece of gear with good features at a nice price. compares favorably with other uncertified meters at 3 times the price. Long term use may be compromised by lack of a calibration port, as accuracy can drift over time. The meter is new, used for one gig so far.I will report back any further pluses and minuses, if any come up.

We can track the neighbors noise levels

Easy to use....the battery compartment requires a screwdriver to open. I don't have a reference source to check accuracy. I bought it to test the sound level of a new outside air conditioner and heat pump. The heat pump sounds louder and the meter shows this.

I have not had any issues using this reader. I purchased it to help get an idea of how loud my Car Audio system was. The only downside is it is unable to read above 130db as i was able to max it out at around half volume. I had assumed as much when i was purchasing it however it is still fun to use and have.

Amazing how loud all those power tools are. works great.
