Used planer to even out warped boards on porch, railings and large sundeck before repainting. Just make sure to sink all nail heads first. My local hardware store does not carry extra 4" blades. Thank goodness I did not hit any nails. The blade provided is still plenty sharp but I recommend getting the highest quality blades for hardwood projects.

This is one of my most used tools, it works great for all kinds of odd jobs on deck building.

Works great as expected. Just be very careful to make sure any nails/screws are out of the boards completely before planing any used boards. I chipped the blade slightly but overall it works great.

Planes virtually everything, will chug through paint/dried glue like nothing. Feels great in the hand and makes a number of jobs incredibly quick. Will eat up batteries depending on what you're planing and what depth you're planing to but for the amount of wood it removes that's more or less expected. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a power hand planer.

This planer is awesome. I like it much more than my corder Bosch. The adjustments are accurate, and it cuts very cleanly. Unfortunately, it does not come with a dust bag. You have to purchase this separately. It is available on PowerToolsReplacementParts. Be sure to get both pieces. There is plastic dome and a separate bag. The good news is that, while a bit bulky, the collection is excellent. It seems to suck nearly all of the sawdust.

Thing runs flawlessly. Setup is easy! I have almost the entire Dewalt 20v set of tools and they are well worth the money.

I am a SF cabinetmaker, and I also do specialized finish stuff. I have a vintage, spiral carbide, Rockwell plane that I use for doors, but this gets used for everything else. Not everything Dewalt makes is as nice as this planer (and I have a bunch of XR tools) but this one is sweet. Just quiet and smooth and leaves a glassy finish. This replaced a corded Bosch that I had for 20 years, which had a way better fence and could shoot the chips out either side. I almost didn't buy this because you are stuck with the chips going out on the right, but I'm invested in the 20v system so I gave it a try. It is so nice to use, I'm finding myself doing long scribes with it that I used to do with a jigsaw and even shallow scribes that I used to do with a belt sander or block plane. I'm kind of particular about how a tool feels ( Please Dewalt, make a drill as nice as this plane!) and I actually look forward to using this one. Every once in a while I have a situation where the chips have to shoot up and rain back down on me (yes, there is a bag which I threw away) and the fence is a useless afterthought, but if you're not doing doors with it, this is one of the nicer XR tools Dewalt makes. Also, I have to say, not having a cord on a plane is pretty awesome.

Great tool. Game changer. Don't run over nails (you really need to check first if you are refinishing old wood) and wear a dust mask. One thing I would have loved would be if the dust exit was mounted on the top rather than the side, so that I can get tighter up against edges. As it is, with the belt mech on one side and the exhaust on the other, it's hard to get up to the edge i.e. up against a wall. The fitting for the dust exhaust however can be disconnected with a T10 bit and then I just hold a vacuum cleaner hose close to the machine while working and it helps. If you can attach a vacuum hose rather than the dust bag (which fills up super fast) you will be rocking. DeWalt has really thought out this collection well and it's awesome to be able to have a tool set that all uses the same batteries.

Terrific tool and is is so nice to be able to use a planer without having a cord in the way. Like all DeWalt products, the batteries are way too expensive.

Wow! What an awesome tool that makes wood working on doors and other surfaces that need a little trimming (planning) done. Love the ease of this device; the light weight and great power behind this superior tool. A must have for every woodworker!!!
