I'm just starting out with learning how to crochet, and it was recommended to me that I try different sizes of crochet hooks to see which one(s) work best for me. I found this set, ordered it, and absolutely love it! I love the bright colors, and the sizes that are clearly marked on the hooks. They were delivered before the date Amazon told me they would be delivered, which was super nice, too.

Nice aluminum set but no American sizes on the hooks

This is a great set of 14, aluminum, crochet hooks for an exceptional price. I think it's perfect as a gift to a new crocheter or as a set to travel with. They are nicely finished aluminum - just like the more expensive, brand name hooks. These are not like the Susan Bates hooks, with the inline head (the hook is very sharp and not rounded and there is no narrowing at the hook.) These are the rounded, tapered hooks like Boyle hooks. That style is my preference but others prefer the inline hook. At this price, you can afford to buy a set and find out which style you prefer. The only issue is that they are not marked with the letter or number sizes more commonly used in the United States. They are only marked with the mm size. One good solution is to mark the letter or number size with a Sharpie marker on the hook and then wrap clear tape over that to preserve it. I marked the letter size directly on a bit of white, adhesive backed, mailing label and then covered that with clear tape. Here is the mm to letter conversion chart. Some of the American sizes do not match the mm sizes in this set exactly but they are close enough that you can choose the correct hook to get the correct gauge for your project. 2.25 mm = B = 1 2.75 mm = C = 2 3.25 mm = D = 3 3.5 mm = E = 4 3.75 mm = F = 5 4 mm = G = 6 4.5 mm = 7 5 mm = H = 8 5.5 mm = I = 9 6 mm = J = 10 6.5 mm = K = 10 1/2 8 mm = L = 11 9 mm = M/N = 13 10 mm = N/P = 15 15 mm = P/Q 16 mm = Q 19 mm = S I think this set is an economical way to get started crocheting or supplement hooks you already own. Because the price is so, so good, I am not deducting any stars for the American sizes not being on the hooks.

Great value even for old arthritic hands!

Great value for a complete set of crochet hooks. As an “old Crocheter” just getting back into the craft upon retirement I saw no need to buy more “fancy” hooks that are padded with rubber, etc. My arthritic hands do just fine with this collection!👍🏻

Good value for a great set!

These hooks are a great quality, a really complete set of common sizes, and all at a fantastic price. I like to leave my hooks in different crochet projects around the house, so having this extra set allows me to use the same size for two concurrent projects. I love the colors too. I am partial to the snub-nosed crochet hooks, and these aren't too pointy either.

Great value

I add handles to these for people who have trouble holding smaller items. They are one of my best sellers at craft shows. The issue people have is them being sized using metric numbers rather than letters. They also skip some sizes but that rarely bothers buyers as the difference in size in 1/2 a millimeter.

AMAZING DEAL

Wow for 14, these are an amazing price. Great quality and great variety of sizes. Everything you need at a super low affordable cost! Grandma has been knitting for years on the same couple needles and got these for her to have more variety in sizes so it is easier with different yarns and she said they were perfect! Can't get them cheaper at any store

Very pleased with this purchase

Very pleased with this purchase. Great value for a full set of hooks with a few smaller ones you normally don't find. All felt smooth and I did try a few before writing this review. They were fine to work with and had my preferred "Boye-type" hook shape rather than the Susan Bates. Sizes were marked in mm and they came in a ziplock bag. Great set and would purchase again if the need arose.

I bought this set mainly for the 9mm hook that was included in it, since that's been a very hard size to find in my area. So far I've used that, the 5mm, and the 8mm hooks. All of these hooks have a nice, comfortable point at the curve of the hook, helping them go through the loops of the yarn easily (some hooks are more rounded, making it a lot more difficult). They're also nice and lightweight, making them very easy for me to use for long periods of time. They're nice and smooth, allowing the yarn to glide over them easily and make keeping the right tension that much easier. ^_^ (For those reading, this product was purchased by a 37 year old daughter, and she's the one who wrote the review.)

Great for a beginner like me!

I am just learning how to crochet and these hooks seem great! (I don't have a ton of experience though) Thy don't appear to have any snags or defects, they are very lightweight but feel solid and I fell like every size I would possibly ever need is included in this set-for less than $7!. I did write what letter size each hook was on the hook with permanent marker because they only have the mm measurement on them and some yarn only tells you the letter hook to use and I was tired of looking up the chart. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I would highly recommend these for a beginner set.

Nice hooks and wonderful customer service!

I really like this set. It's a great range of sizes and they work nice. The customer service was great too. When I initially got them my 2mm hook was missing a hook and just looked like a pointer, so I contacted the seller if they could just send me a replacement for that hook (I included a picture for them to see the missing hook) because I didn't really want to return the purchase and I had projects I needed crochet hooks for. Well they apologized and sent me a whole new set and told me I did not have to return the original set!! So awesome! So now I've got plenty of crotchet hooks which is great because I usually have a few projects going at once and these hooks work wonderfully! Very happy with this purchase.
