I can rest a little easier now...

So far these are great. I've had em, only using one right now, for 2 months now and they've done their job. My toddler can now unlock the heavy sliding glass patio door and the locking screen so we wanted to find something that would keep the door closed when we needed it closed. These are exactly the thing we needed. I stuck it to the glass as close to the door, when it's closed, as I could so there wouldn't be much force/momentum exerted on this lock when it was put to the test. It's held up perfectly. Hasn't caved or given way once in, probably, 8 to 10 hits on it. It also locks in place solidly so the vibration of a bump on the patio door won't make the leg collapse. It doesn't snap hard into place, by the way, it still has a tiny bit of play when the lock is engaged which is just enough so that unlocking it for you is SUPER EASY. Again, easy lock and unlock. Two seconds? Maybe 1.5 seconds? Super fast. The other thing I was definitely concerned about was the thickness of these. Are they thin enough that when you want to open the door it will pass right over this lock? ABSOLUTELY. That is what sold me. Check out the photos (and yes, apparently we need to clean the window). Works perfectly. Using to keep the toddler out of the closet. This kid is a hurricane, destroying everything in his path. He has yet to figure out how to break into the closet with this baby in place so I call it a win. Takes all of 10 seconds to install and only 1-2 seconds to open/close. Fool proof. Get it. BUY THIS! It's amazing!

I LOVE IT!!!!! Seriously amazing. And a lifesaver. Not to mention my sanity. My kids have taken it upon themselves to NOT nap anymore and instead open their closet and tear their bins of toys out. They're stacked in there and the last thing I needed was bins falling on their heads! 😕 I did appreciate the instructions, easy and simple, although it did take a minute to figure out how it worked, perhaps a better picture of it mounted on closet in diagram? Popped the lock into place and then it made sense. And it would be nice if it more clicked/locked into place, Like a buckle. Although it really truly does click into place and stay where it should (holding the door closed against my 4 & 2 yr old). I was just thinking more of a more inforced type lock. It works great/amazing/perfect and the boys haven't been able to open their door since. Seriously, genius idea. Thank you so much. Did the job!

We used this lock in our vacation rental to keep our toddler from opening the sliding glass door and going by the pool unsupervised. The lock seems light but it did the job. I like that it was simple to attach and use. Truth be told, I was so afraid my son would get out, I used two locks on the same door, but that probably wasn’t necessary. I would use it again in a vacation rental that lacks fencing around a pool.

Amazing!

This product is a LIFE SAVER!! I have an 18month daughter, and I am also watching my 18month nephew during the day. As soon as one of them sees something they want, they both gang up and try to get it. Lately their favorite treasure is my husbands computer. We have a sliding door to his office, but it came with this cheesy little lock and my nephew is a master escape artist. I was able to put this lock in a place that my toddlers cannot reach, but my 6year old still can lock and unlock it. It is simple enough for my older kids to use, but strong enough to withstand little determined terrors from getting their forbidden treasures. I will buy this product again if anything happens to the two I ordered, and my sister had already ordered some as well! I will forever recommend this product to anyone who has sliding doors and curious children!

Good buy

Very simple product but does the job well. I was able to easily teach my 6 yr old how to use it in case of emergencies. It’s a very simple device so if a child can reach it, they would most likely be able to figure it out. I didn’t read the description well enough (my fault) but I had hopes of taking the second one to the beach for the patio door and then being able to remove it easily. That’s not going to happen with the 3M tape and the sun, not sure why I thought it was made with a command strip. In all reality it’s probably safer without a removable type tape and as cheap as they are I’ll just leave it on the door when we leave.

Fantastic deterrent for the determined toddler!

Purchased full price and this review is unbiased. My toddler is quite the Houdini and can unlock the sliding door and pull the security bar from the track in a matter of seconds now. I had my doubts that this would work, it didn't look like much, but it is MUCH stronger than it seems and is doing the job perfectly! No more escape for the toddler!

Awesome addition to pool safety!

These have given us a great peace of mind - we use TWO on each sliding door leading out to the pool. I love that our preschoolers can't reach them. Those rascals have figured out all the other door locks, so we're really grateful for these. Note: if you have a strong-armed husband who forgets about these locks and just says WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS #%*@ DOOR and yanks it open without undoing them, they will simply break, and you will have to order more. :/

Takes care of cats too

We actually bought this because we have ridiculously smart cats and live in an apartment where more permanent solutions aren't possible. They had figured out how to work some sliding closet doors, at the bottom of which we keep plastic stacking trays of snack foods. In addition to be smart, our cats are apparently carb-i-vores and love crackers and potato chips (and donuts...). They got into the closet and had a Cheez-It massacre. This handy little device goes on with 3M tape which we use elsewhere to hang things. It sticks up really quickly and has thus far kept them out of the closet. I heard them trying like the dickens as I got ready for bed the other night and I laughed at them from the bathroom because we have foiled them for now! You do need to make sure that you've actually got it properly in the "lock" position - sometimes it will look locked but actually isn't. All in all it works well.

Perfect for keeping cats out of closets

We actually bought this product to keep our cat, who has front claws and loves to pull clothes off hangers and therefore, ruin them, out of our sliding door closets. They work perfectly. However, you do need to remember to "unlock" them every time you want to open the closet and then "re-lock" them every time you close the closet. The plastic seems a little cheap and I am a little worried they may not hold up to a few times where we try to open the door with the lock on. However, we've been using two of these for over a month and no issue yet.
