Protect your stuff with this one
I originally bought this to support my secondary budget build but wish I wasn't too lazy to swap it out with my CyberPower 1000VA. Actually, in my defense the CPVA has too many damn lights and leds on it and it would be annoying in my bedroom. The thing would like up my sleep space like a Christmas tree. Mindful engineering of plug placement so you can fit in the annoying Chromecast adaptor plug as well as other manufacturers' consumer minded plugs (I'm being like that other f word associated with funniness that I prefer not to use because it is way over utilized). Just a soft green light. Sorry, you will have to buy an additional nightlight if you would prefer the thing to be all bright and whatnot. Got my TV, CC, BB and Sharp Aquos (lol keeping it real) plugged in here. Like that its top loading so that you can swap out plugs if you need to. To give you an idea of its utility, my apartment originally had fuses and two prongs throughout. I enlisted some dude to change it up to three prongs because those adaptors are perceived just to be temporary and I will not say unsafe and put in a fuse box but much of the work it seems, but I hope isn't, well how do I say "slim shady". I love my finicky AMD builds and as Shaniya says "looks like [they] made it...still together and going strong".

Keeps the wifi running during power outages
Internet is king, and most of us would have serious withdrawals should the internet go down for any extended time. So when I read the news that my town would be in the path of Hurricane Florence, I decided to buckle down and get something that could support our modem and router for an extended power outage. Prime shipping had this APC UPS battery backup delivered the next day and the system was very easy to assemble out of the box. Upon unpacking, you have to plug in the internal battery (disconnected to stay safe during shipping) which does briefly cause minor, but expected, sparking. The battery slides into place easily and the cover re-attaches with moderate effort. The battery is shipped mostly depleted, so do not expect this to power your devices for hours right out of the box. After about 24 hours of being plugged in, you should be good to go. We have a Google mesh Wi-Fi system, and this battery supports one of the wi-fi routers plus our Netgear CM700 modem. After owning this device for about 30 hours, we experienced our first power outage. The outage lasted for 3.5 hours and the UPS performed spectacularly. It immediately kicked in when the power went out and supported both the router and modem continuously during the outage. While this UPS comes with the ability to be monitored via a USB connection, I do not have that set up at this time so I don't know how much juice was left in the UPS after the 3.5 hours. This is one of the small drawbacks for this UPS, as it doesn't come with a built-in display to check load or battery levels. Once the power came back on, it switched back to the grid seamlessly. We had 4 more outages (lasting between 1 and 3 hours) over the next five days and the UPS had no problem powering our internet during that time. The device is heavy and certainly not designed to be proudly displayed on your mantle. The device prioritizes function over form, but I figure most users will be happy with this trade-off. It does not come with any advanced features, but provides great function at a lower price point ($57.15 at the time of this review, 9/18/2018). I will update this review if any problems arise with future use.

Excellent
Great little box. Gives me lots of juice when the power goes out. My desktop, monitor and router have lasted at least 20 minutes after the power went out. The power was reinstated before this UPS ran out so I'm not sure just how long it would have lasted, it may have been much longer. One time I needed to do some quick electrical work on the house but didn't want to have to reboot the computer... So I just turned the power off at the breaker box, did my work real quick and turned the power back on. The computer was still up and running. :-D One thing though... do not leave it unplugged for months at a time. I left it unplugged for a spring and summer because we don't have storms knocking out our electricity then. So I figured if I unplug it for 6 months of the year then the whole product will last twice as long, right? Well it turns out that can basically ruin it. When I plugged it back in after 6 months it would barely hold a charge. After a couple of emails to APC they informed me that unplugging it for months and months at a time hurts the battery (or electronics or something). They were GREAT though, they send me a new APC and I sent my original one back. Now it's working like new and I won't be unplugging it for months at a time. Great unit that really give me piece of mind.

My problem resolved.
Bought this because my Tripp-Lite finally gave out after 4 years. Hook everything up and there is a "building wiring fault" burning on the back of unit. I have never had an issue with any other UPS's in this plug. Contact support....they want me to get an electrician to check out my wiring...WHAT? Yeah right, I'm gonna hire an electrician to come over and check my wiring because their $58 piece of electronics says there's a problem with the wiring...nope....not gonna happen. It's going back and I'm getting another Tripp-Lite. This is a bunch of crap. Oh, and their tech people have to keep asking other people when you ask them a question..... Update: The seller reached out to me and replaced my unit with a step up. Sent me an rma for free shipment back to them. They bent over backwards to make me happy so changing my stars to 4. I would give it a 5 but the unit needs a readout on the front showing the status and battery strength like the Tripp-Lites have. Otherwise the unit is working great. Thanks for the great customer service! Update 7/10/17. This seller went over and beyond to make me happy. Sent a new upgraded unit which is working flawlessly. Thank you very much!

Seven years! I'm amazed it went this long.
I have been reading a lot of negative reviews on this battery today as my present one finally gave out and I was looking at getting a new one. I have not an inkling as to why, but my battery lasted seven years with no problems, far beyond the three to five they say it will. I have a lot of devices plugged into it but only a couple directly. For the rest, I have been using a combination of two strips with one plugged into the battery itself and the other plugged into that one and through the two strips, I have another eight or so devices plugged in for a total of about a dozen different things. Some I only use intermittently and so don't draw power constantly and do not draw a lot when they are used. But what is plugged in and operating constantly is my laptop, 28" monitor, printer, wifi/modem/router, and two speakers. When electric power has been interrupted the battery stayed for as long as two hours until power was restored. I have no idea how much longer it would have functioned if the power was out longer than this. But considering what I have been reading here it seems I may have gotten a good one. I mean seven years with no issues at all. And, it never chirped or had the long piercing whistle until the other day when it began and I realized it was about to completely die which after seven years I am not surprised at. Even through this dying process, which went on for two days (drove me nuts) because I couldn't figure out what the whistling was and thought it was a faulty smoke alarm as I live in an old factory loft with concrete floors, pillars, and ceilings which are 15' high, so the whistling echoed everywhere making it difficult to pin down where it was coming from. After all of these years I just never considered it was the battery until I just started pulling everything out from the walls and I finally found that the battery which is behind a desk and shelves with tons of wires, had the red light blinking yet did not go off and was still operating. So, I just shut everything down and reorganizeded a few things and plugged one of the strips directly into the wall socket like I used to before ever getting the battery and booted it all up again. Then I came right here to Amazon again to repurchase the battery because it certainly did the trick for me very well for so long. But after reading so many bad reviews I am having second thoughts. Maybe the product was just made better years ago and now the quality has been dropping which happens so often with so many companies and the products they produce. I am not sure yet what to do and so I will research other companies who make these batteries and talk with some people I know who are far more knowledgeable and could give me good advice. Meanwhile, I go without a battery and being Summer here, the power never goes off. It is always in the Winter. I hope other people have more positive experiences with this company's products as I did because it's sad so many have had severe problems due to the product's inferior functioning today.

I couldn't be happier with this unit
I ordered this UPS for protecting my modem, router and two printers. It has the right amount of input jacks and takes up hardly any room. It has three settings for alarms, which is wonderful - no alarm, quiet alarm (alarm only when battery is dying) and full alarm including when on battery power and when dying. I have other alarms that sound every time that the battery is supplying power during a power failure, and I can't wait for them to die, so I can replace them with a quiet alarm. Needless to say, I have this unit set for the quiet alarm, which happens to be the default. The unit was shipped right away and was here in two days in perfect condition and packaged well. I charged it for 24 hours and installed it the next day. The day after that, we were hit with a plethora of lightning bolts and short one-to-two second outages as the power company tried to cope with all of the hits. This unit handled them flawlessly and all of my equipment remained up. And - no noisy alarms while the room lights were flickering! I couldn't be happier with this unit. And the three year warranty is n added attraction.

Purchased to replace older ES650 model
I purchased this 600VA, APC Back-UPS (BE600M1) to replace our aging APC 650ES model. It was having problems with the on/off button, so I decided to just replace it. This unit is only used for my wi-fi router and cable modem. They are the only things plugged into the battery backup ports to maintain internet when the power goes out in our house. This unit gives me over 2 hours of internet backup for my modem and wi-fi router. I have another APC battery backup for my desktop. I always use APC UPS and will continue to use them. They can be used in stand alone mode or you can download "Power Chute" software to change even more options. The one that runs my desktop is for my iMac. It is compatible with the "Energy Saver" software already on the Mac, so there is no need to download the Powerchute software. I have it set to soft shutdown my iMac when the battery power is less than 15% charge left. I would recommend this unit to anyone with a smaller computer, or to be used with modem/router for backup power.

worth the money for peace of mind
So far, this seems to do its job. I bought this because my Windows 10 was updating, the power went off, and then my computer would never reboot. Always got an error screen and it wouldn't recover, so I had to do a fresh Windows 10 install, drag. The management software that I downloaded says there has been no service interruption in the 8 weeks that I've had it, but I was using it one night and the power fluctuated a couple of times and I heard it clicking on so it seems to be ready to do its job. I unplugged it with a light plugged into it and it worked. The only complaint is that it looked like it had been handled a little rough when I got it out of the box. The case had some scratches, especially around the plugs. I don't know if it's because of not so tender handling while building or testing, but it made me a little concerned that maybe this was a return. I suppose maybe they may reuse cases from returns. Whatever the reason, it does seem to be working well. This isn't big enough if you want to run your computer for a while with the power off. The software says it would give about 10-12 minutes of power. You can set the software to shutdown your computer right away if the power goes off or you can set a delay. The delay is nice because it would give you a chance to save what you might be working on if you're at the computer when the power goes off. It has a usb port, so it would charge phones or tablets in a pinch.

Very Happy With It So Far!
For a long time I didn't understand that any given Back-UPS unit is going to keep any given PC (and more) up and running if a power outage were to occur. When I finally came to understand that fact I settled on this particular Back-UPS model. (I based my decision to buy it on the many positive reviews for it.) I connected the battery wire inside of it and then I hooked the unit up to my Desktop PC by way of the USB cord that came with it. There wasn't a CD software disk provided with mine (and I assume there wasn't supposed to be one) but I did locate and download from the APC website the particular edition software that works with it. I installed the software without a problem. I immediately went into the settings and disabled all the alarms inasmuch as I don't want to be inconvenienced by them going off. I have not had a power outage yet so I don't really know that this unit is going to do what it is supposed to; however, all indications are that all is well with it. If there is anything of value to add to this review after the fact, I will post it. I am not disappointed so far. Edit (July 8th, 2016): Today we had a power outage (lasting a few hours) and the unit did exactly as I was hoping it would. Only my desktop pc was plugged into it at the time and when the outage occurred the pc stayed up and running. It allowed me to turn off the computer in the normal manner. The battery recharged back to 100%. I love this thing! Glad I bought it.

Works well, lasts long
I have an internet modem, wifi router, security camera base station, and a media only computer plugged into this. When the power goes out it allows me to shut down the media computer gracefully, keeps my internet up and running, and keeps my wireless camera security system up and running as well. With my surface tablet running on it's battery and the UPS keeping my internet up, I can stay connected so I can check on the status of the power outage on the electric companies website and to stay in touch with family during the power outage. Using the modem, router, and camera system on the UPS gets me about 2-4 hours of power. Usually plenty of time for the power to come back on. Only down side is depending on how big or the orientation of your plugs, you probably won't be able to plug in 7 devices. I could only fit 4, but that was all I needed. Recommended.
