I decided I needed this guard after I melted part of the trim on a favorite top (ironing on the wrong side helps but I learned it doesn't always work) and ruined a very expensive suit when I scorched the front of the slacks. Neither I nor the drycleaner could remove the shiny blotch I had made. So I bought this hoping I wouldn't ruin any more clothes. This cover fits my Rowenta steam iron and works perfectly! I ordered a second one for my son and his wife and they love it.

keeps iron sole clean

Fits iron fine. Keeps iron sole clean of starch. It does slow down iron a little which is fine that way iron doesn't get away from me,my iron has a smooth finish

I've had three covers and this is the best.

Best sole plate to date

It is the best sole cover plate that I have used to date. I iron every week, sometimes daily. I can set the heat setting on linen and press silk without burning the fabric. I travel with the plate so I don’t worry when I press anything with a hotel iron. There are two issues I see with the sole plate: Before it was produced by Woolite, I bought it from another company. That plate (which is essentially identical) separated from the metal base that it is shaped to fit. I had two of them do this. The second comment is that the rubber ‘band’ that holds the plate to the iron is thick and it causes the iron to tip over if you are not careful when you set it up on it’s end. Regardless of these two issues, I will continue to replace it when necessary if the plate separates from the metal form. It is the most narrow of the sole plates I have purchased and fits my Rowenta iron the best. I’m giving it the best recommendation even with the two issues as it makes my life easier.

I purchased two of these for my Rowenta big-steam-box irons and they work great. I listened to someone on line that said to use sandpaper to clean the surface of my sticky iron. DON'T DO THIS. It ruined the surface on one but this item saved me the cost of replacing it. It doesn't fit on the steam box quite as well but well enough if I'm careful. GREAT PRODUCT.
