My son is just starting out with the drums, although we are no strangers to music as I taught muThis drum pad is great for practicing in an apartment setting. It does not have the bounce that some pads have, but it is good for teaching less experienced drummers not to play with a tight grip.

Great quality. My 14 year old son who used to hate to practice has literally been on this every day since we got it. We are very pleased and would buy it again.

This is a great practice pad for percussionists. The silicone pad has just the right bounce, and just the right volume; not too quiet or too loud. The size is perfect, and the included carrying case is an added bonus. The only caution: this is a one-sided practice pad; the back side is a non-slip foam that is not meant to be struck with a drum stick. When giving this to a young percussionist, be sure they are told this, since some of their friends will have double sided practice pads.

My son loves this practice pad, great size, weight, and color. Word of advise in case you don't fully read, the sticks DO NOT come with it.

This has been a fantastic training pad. I play on an electronic drum set so the rebound effect can be lost on the pads. This has been a great supplement for rudiment warm-ups before moving to the set. This pad has a great feel and is great for practicing rolls and has a nice rebound to the surface. This pad has had profound impact on my drumming. It fits perfectly in my snare stand.

When I purchase a drum pad ( and I have almost every one that comes out on the market), I am looking for two qualities: great FEEL and musical SOUND (and obviously quiet). This pad has these qualities and more in spades! You can play a well-built solid wooden pad, meaning you can draw out interesting musical sounds from rim shots to dead sticking. And what's even better, I got to choose my favorite color. One thing that needs clarification (for me) is this two-sided description. Mine is silicone blue on one side and a soft mat on the other. Maybe I misread the description, or they make another 2 sided pad. I cannot play on BOTH sides of this pad though. It appears to be a non-skid pad. If you strike this black side, it dimples - not so great. But no stars off for my misunderstanding. Buy this pad; comes with a perfect fitting carrying case. I only know of one other pad in my collection that comes this way. Kudos to Tromme Percussion for building a pad for real drummers.

We bought this for our child to learn on. It has been a wonderful way to learn on before putting money into a whole set. This way too we will know what the real interest is.

My husband takes this pad with him to work. He drives truck and has waiting time so he takes advantage of that time to practice drumming. He loves it, it is quiet and is easily transported.

I bought this for my son who, at age 5, decided he wanted to start taking drum lessons. I didn't want to make a huge investment, but am really pleased with the quality of this pad. It certainly stands up to five-year-old "practice" which takes some abuse from occasionally odd angles. This is surprisingly durable and more than adequate for what I would purchase even for a high-school percussionist seeking a practice pad. It's very quiet and the perfect fit for our needs.

Have a collection of drum practice pads. Was anxious to use this one because it has silicone and not the traditional gum rubber striking surface. Have used the Tromme pad several times and find that it is better than some of the big brand name pads (i.e. Real Feel, Xymox, Vic Firth, etc.) I have been using for years. Recommend it for marching percussion practice as well as for beginning percussionist.
