Good uniform grit on both sides that added a very sharp edge to my fishing knives. I like the stone holder that keeps it secure on my bench. I recently sharpened the same knives with a lower git stone and this 1,000/6,000 stone added a very nice edge. Have some patience when sharpening and try to keep a consistent blade angle. I gave 4 stars for ease of use because all whetstones take some practice.

good stone and great non skid base

Bought for my son who is deployed. He said it works great!

Very nice quality product

I bought this because I have a lot of knives for cooking and camping that needed sharpening (initially). I one of those as-seen-on-tv handheld ones for quick sharpening but it just wasn't doing the job for damage knives. I got this and was able to get pretty much all of the damage out of my knives. So then I remembered I have a hatchet that had a nice bite in from wear against wood. It also sharpened that hatchet better than the hand held one. And lastly I had a sword that I had accidentally dinged the crap out of, and yes, I used this whetstone in sharpening that as well. It took out the ding and sharpened it perfectly. Definitely worth the investment. The little white fix-it stone is really nice at shaving down the sides when youre done, and the non-slip works fairly well on wood surfaces, but not much else it seems.

Be aware that sharpening takes a lot of time and patience and practice. This set is easy to use, but be sure to read up on how to do it right or you can spend a lot of time with very little practical results. The additional flattening stone is useful, but I feel the blade support is not ideal because it would give a different bevel angle on each knife depending on the width of the blade. Since I am mostly using this stone for woodworking tools, that isn't a major issue, but just know that there are probably better angle guides for knives than what come with this. Final warning, water stones like this are quite soft by design. This requires care to not chip out sections when sharpening chisels in a forward direction. Don't ask me how I figured that out.

I use this to sharpen Wahl blades mostly. This stone is truly flat. Your won't be disappointed. The one I got was toleranced at under 1/1000th of an inch on the rough side. For the price it is amazing! I've seen stones close to $100 (per grit) the weren't as flat as this. The seller even went out of their way to email to make sure this stone arrived in pristine shape. Who does that? This stone will last for years. Sorry I don't have a need for a dozen. I'd stock em if I needed em. Use water! Don't use oil with this one. You will be happier. Thank you "Queen Store" and Lucy.

Works great for getting my knives shaving sharp. I use the 2000 grit side most, since I never let my knives get very dull. The only thing I would have them change is to not print their logo on it. It took quite a while for it to finally wear off and leave the surface smooth and flat there. Edit: About six months after I bought this stone, the seller sent me a new one out of the blue. When I asked about it they said that they had noticed my prior review and had changed the logo to the side and wanted to send me a new one free of charge. That is great customer service. I sharpened a knife with the new stone and it worked just a great as the old one. The 2000 grit really gives a smooth sharp edge without giving a mirror polish that looks silly on pocket knives. Between this one stone and a leather strop with chromium oxide, you should have everything you need to get super sharp edges and maintain your knives as long as they don't have any major nicks in the blade.

I bought two of these stones with varying degrees of grain, and combined they make one hell of a sharp knife! I had two knives that I considered "impossible to sharpen"... I used two other stones on them for about 30 minutes each, and they just WOULD NOT sharpen. I sharpened that same knife on these stones and they are now razor sharp! Amazing! I also appreciated the manual/pdf that came with the purchase. It wasn't SUPER detailed, but it gave some good suggestions and guidance. I would have liked the manual to be delivered to me sooner than it was, though. (It came a couple days after I received the stones in the mail). The only real complaint I have is that you have to be SUPER careful with the stones. On my FIRST use, I soaked them in my sink and dinged the corner of the stone on the side of the sink, and it chipped off. That was sad for me. It still works, but I have to be careful when I sharpen close to that chipped corner.

The biggest Pro: much sharper knives! I didn't have the patience to file each side for as long as the instructions called for but nonetheless, it did the trick. I can imagine how much sharper the edges would be if I had filed for as long as instructed! Very good product. Easy to use. Keep wetting the stone. Don't worry if you mess up on which direction you were supposed to apply stronger pressure, just correct and keep going.
