I love the adjustable temp on this, and all the others things that come with it are great! Like the extra/different tips, sponge, tweezers, solder, and case! I've used the for many projects and it has been great, but BEWARE this won't work on lead free solder! You should have something that gets hotter for any lead free solders.

I've been soldering for the better part of 15 years. Yes, this is a cheap soldering iron and I purchased it to help teach my 7- and 8-year old kids how to solder and about electronics (with proper safety and adult supervision, of course!). However, for the price, this is absolutely outstanding and is absolutely great for beginners, or an around-the-house quick and portable soldering iron. Everything about it is as good as you can get within the price range. - It has temp. control - Comes in a very nice plastic case - Comes with very nice tweezers purpose-built for soldering - Very nice, long rugged cord - Even the sponge is nice and even will last you a while - The holding stand is nice and heavy, doesn't feel like it's going to tip or slide anywhere - The extra tips it comes with are useful and decent quality - It's easy to switch out the tips Cons: - The tiny 'sample package' of solder it comes with is low quality. Just buy some new rosin-core electronics solder. - The arrow for the temp control rubbed off after a day of use. Make sure you use a marker to mark where the > arrow is for the temp. control - Wish the case was just a little bigger Of course, if you're serious about soldering and do it more than once or twice a week you will want a much more expensive unit, but for the price this is absolutely amazing and pleasantly surprising. I purchased this for what I _thought_ would essentially be a short-use iron that my children could use to learn to solder and I would buy a nicer one later. However, it turns out this far exceeded my own expectations. Honestly, if you showed me this kit and asked me how much you think it costed, I would say at least 3 times the actual cost, if not 5 times the cost. As I said, the only down-sides are the writing rubs off that has the marker for the temp control. Fix that with a marker, small piece of tape, or whatever you can come up with. Then -- and I'm not sure what is wrong with it -- but the 'sample' solder they sent in the kit is junk, buy a decent $5 spool of electronic rosin core solder somewhere, and you will have yourself a soldering kit that is worth 5x the price you paid for it here. Everything else is of surprising quality, down to the tweezer and sponge in the kit. This would make an excellent gift.

This is actually a pretty awesome little kit, and the soldering iron is adjustable temp, reliable, and honestly better than any iron I've used. Never have trouble heating up elements and melting solder with this, a problem I've had time and time again with even high quality, mid-range price single temp irons. Plus it comes with a lot of great tools, is super easy to store and portable. Fits easily in toolboxes.

Wow, this one works really well. The heat is adjustable, and the heat is very even across the entire tip. Soldered on some legs on an Arduino Nano, and it was awesome to be able to use the small tip getting really good solders and quickly too. Highly recommended. Also used the suction device today, and it was my first time using one of those, and it worked really well too.

First, I really like this iron. I am an I&E tech, and in my younger years started off doing component level repair of circuit boards, so am pretty familiar with using a soldering iron. The cord on an iron can be a big pain when it is stiff to work with. This one has a very flexible cord which makes it nice. It uses a ceramic element that is inserted inside the metal "core" of the iron for the heat source so it might break if you slam it around, but it also means it heats up really quickly. After I had used it for a week or so and had made about 100 or so connections, it suddenly "popped" and quit. I contacted the seller directly, and no questions, no hassle they are shipping me a new one. When you mass produce items you WILL get an occasional defect, it's what the seller does about it that matters. I am very pleased by the response that I got.

Very nice set in a good case. This is a 60 watt, variable temp, lightweight, and easy to hold pencil type soldering iron. Temp range is 205-460 per my IR thermometer. Heat up time is just over 2 minutes for the highest temp setting. 5 soldering tips are included and they are all actually useful. A desoldering tool, stand, manual, and anti-static tweezers are also included. The case latches securely and is a convenient way to store and transport your soldering gear. There is some extra room inside the case in case you wish to put some other personal necessities in there. Overall, this is a high quality, entry level soldering set. It will handle most repairs and assemblies easily. Recommended.

After 6 months it is working great. It heats up fast. Since I am always turning my iron on and off during a long job this one is saving me time. Pros The tips are holding up great. No being eaten by acid. I have used everything in it. The carrying case is nice and I don't have to fight to get all the stuff back into it. There is a light on mine to tell it is on. My friend liked using it so much he ordered one too Con: The temp gauge is very easy to turn and change without realizing it. I have nothing to measure the temperature but you will notice your flux vaporize instantly to notify you that you have likely changed the gauge. It would be nice if it had a flip up holder vs the bend to use. I leave it bent up about .5" so I can put it in the box and out w/o adjusting it.

I had my old iron for over 40 years. Decided I needed a new replacement to keep from damaging the repair or project when the heating element fell out of the handle. I am very pleased with the newer technology for attaching the tips. This iron heats quickly and has worked well so far. The kit has the basics for a beginner and intermediate user. Do not expect to do volume work where a professional grade soldering station is appropriate. I don't expect to need another in my life time and this is a good one for both light duty electrical and electronic use. I recommend it for all levels of expertise.

This is a must have for DIY repairs.. This was the first time I was able to make a quick fix to a xmas light in no time. Really great quality easy to use, it has instructions and it is a pretty complete kit.. I really recommend this product and the seller. I am really happy with it because in past situations something that should have been fix easily ended up being a mess. My old soldering iron did not have adjustable temp. only one tip and not really suitable for small works, this can be adjusted to whatever it is you need to do. Again, I am really happy!

Very pleased! I purchased this kit for repairing wiring on my drone. Excellent heat control & great selection of tips Included for various applications. Quality tool with a nice solid carrying case. Well worth the low low price!
