Size wise this is perfect and fits great in the 12x8x8" critter carrier even ...

I only just bought the item but I did put it to use in a variety of situations. I'll be using this for a baby crested gecko once I get him/her in September from a friend/breeder. Size wise this is perfect and fits great in the 12x8x8" critter carrier even with a good amount of wood and fake leaves in there. I love the magnet portions because I've actually got this on the inside of the terrarium and I'm using a strong earth magnet on the outside which works great to save on space and placing it on the wall. I tested this next to the house thermostat and it read as 71.6 while the house was set at 72 degrees so it's basically spot on... I had it in my room on one side and the temperature was reading around 68.6 and fluctuating around 69.3 degrees since it's next to a window and closer to the AC vent. So for the sake of the Gecko, I move this to the other side of my room and put a towel under the terrarium and eventually the Thermopro read at a steady 72 degrees which some slight fluctuation and 56% humidity - which is perfect for my little buddy who will arrive in a couple months. It runs off of a single AAA battery (I can't speak for battery life) but the size of this product is awesome to keep inside a critter terrarium and the magnetic backing provides good placement options.

A Good Little Indoor Humidity and Temperature Monitor

I live in a two story house. The temperature varies from the upstairs and downstairs. Where I spend most of my time during the day is not near the thermostat that controls the furnace and air conditioner. It was very inconvenient going downstairs at night or walking across the house during the day to check the temperature at the thermostat. I reviewed the indoor thermometers available and selected this ThermPro unit. While I wanted two units, I purchased only one to see how I liked it. A few hours after receipt, the temperature was the same as my thermostat. That was a plus. Now, I knew the temperature in my little office during the day and in my bedroom at night. The only problem I had now was I kept forgetting to move the unit between my bedroom and office. So 18 days after receiving the first unit, I ordered the second unit. I have been quite happy with these purchases as they meet my need perfectly, and I do not have to worry about moving them anymore. I do not have any way to compare the accuracy of the humidity reading. This feature was a bonus for me and was not part of my decision to purchase this unit. Based upon my experience, I rate this unit with five stars. I do recommend the TP-50 unit if you are looking for a simple indoor thermometer.

Works as advertised

UPDATE: The first hygrometer regularly listed the temperature higher and the humidity level lower than my other thermometers/hygrometers. It was promptly replaced by the company. The replacement works correctly. This hygrometer measures temperature and humidity, and it's meant for indoor use. It operates on one AAA battery, included with the device. The device has a small kickstand that sets the device upright at an easy-to-read angle and also had a magnet so that it can be attached to a metal surface such as a refrigerator. The temperature reads in tenths of a degree. Note that the hygrometer may take an hour or so to adjust itself to its surrounding conditions, and temperature and humidity readings may be slightly off initially. Also be aware that handling the device also will change the reading temporarily, due to body heat and moisture being in contact and/or proximity.

Very Pleased - Smart Purchase

This ThermoPro is quite accurate and easy to read. It's also practical for a marriage. I need to buy a dozen more, now that I know these are accurate. I can put this in the window get a reading, move it to a table near a lamp and it changes within a minute. I've taken it to the main thermostat and got the same reading. It reads the same as my dad's very expensive thermostat but, keep it protected for sentimental reasons.. This portable thermostat is perfect to prove to my husband each room is a different temperature. When he's hot and I'm freezing, I just whip this out and it puts an end to even begin a conversation, lol. Plus, they make great gifts. Older people love talking about the weather and find thisThermoPro intriguing. I forgot to mention, this arrived quickly, well packaged and believe it even came with a battery.

Inexpensive and no-worry hygrometer

I love this little hygrometer! It's inexpensive and self-contained so there's nothing to set up or worry about. That said, I would have no way of knowing if the humidity level shown is accurate. I bought a humidifier (different brand) as well and many times they agree on the room's ambient humidity and sometimes they don't--obviously I don't know which is truly accurate. I will add that one of our maintenance staff has a professional (laser?) device that measures thermostat heat readings--he told me the temperature in my apartment and his reading was exactly the same as the temperature reading on this hygrometer. I'm going to assume that if the temperature is accurate to one-tenth of a degree, the humidity reading is as well. The only improvement I can suggest is a backlight so that the screen can be read in the dark or in poor light. A minor quibble--I do love this gadget!

Accurate and easy to read

I am a physicist with a new zone in my forced-air heating system and a piano that needs to have constant room humidity, preferably around 42%. I bought three of these monitors to assess these conditions. The first thing I did was to enclose them in an transparent, air-tight container with three other humidity monitors that I have been calibrating for years. I put the container next to the room thermostat and noted the readings 8 times over the course of 30 hours. I opened the container twice to let in air with a new humidity. Here’s what I observed: 1. The readings stabilized within about an hour or two after each time I opened the container. 2. The 3 new monitors agreed with each other to within about 0.5 °F and with the thermostat reading. This is more than good enough for me to use to assess the uniformity of the temperatures in the different rooms of my new heating zone. 3. Their humidity readings agreed with each other to within 1% RH. That’s excellent – but possibly inaccurate. 4. Comparing the humidity readings with my careful calibrations of the other humidity meters, I concluded that the humidity readings of these new monitors are about 2% higher than the true humidity – at about 42% RH. That is excellent. Therefore, I scientifically conclude that I am happy with this purchase!

Excellent customer service

I ordered this product to use in my RV mainly for the humidity part if it. The first product I received was off by about 4 degrees (after testing it against the built in thermostat and an electric heater with a built in thermostat). Rather than return it, I contacted the company. They answered all my email correspondence in a very timely manner (like, the same day timely). Once it was determined that the product was not working properly, they notified me that they were mailing out a new one. This arrived and was tested same as the original one and alongside the original one. The new one was...you guessed it...4 degrees different from the original one and matched the two built in thermostats used to test. Problem solved and the device is now mounted next to my built in thermostat so I can keep track of humidity levels. Therefore, I am satisfied with my purchase and very happy with the customer service from this company!

Great space conditions monitor

This little gadget has been a huge helper in monitoring the humidity level and temperature in our master bedroom, letting me know when my dominant area of habitation fluctuates out of the ranges which I have found are optimally beneficial for my health - esp medical/health issues that can greatly affect my quality of life and limit my activity. On average, I probably glance at my atmosphere condition gauge 10 times a day, probably more due to its convenient location on top of a tall chest of drawers along the path into the room and from my bed to the bathroom than because I am actively thinking about the humidity and temperature. Of course, I probably stop to read and evaluate the conditions registered on the device about 3 times a day, usually when I first get out of bed, when I first return to my bedroom in the evening to start winding down, and just before I lay down in bed for the last time to fall asleep. I had purchased a high quality HEPA room air filter at the same time I bought this hygrometer, and I immediately learned how dry the air inside our home can be, as well as how greatly the temperature can vary in one room depending on outside atmospheric conditions, how many people are in the room, how many and which lights and electronics devices are on/off, and whether or not there is a fan on and how the fan is arranged for moving the air. That led to me buying a single room mist humidifier which now runs nearly nonstop to keep the air moisturized. The hydrometer definitely helps me decide when I need to make various adjustments to keep the room's atmospheric conditions how my body feels best.

Fantastic to help balance sinus issues

I love this product (so much so that after I fell in love with the original one I purchased, I bought three more)! I really struggle with my sinuses and never realized how dry it was around me - I worked to ensure that the air around me was more comfortable for me to breathe and it REALLY made a difference. I keep one in my bedroom (the original) and I have one in my living room, one at my desk (work) and I gave one to my parents to try). I really like that it tells you both the temperature and the humidity level (as well as the highs and lows for that space/unit).
