Our seven year old grandson was THRILLED with this collection! Strangely enough, he had been asking for a "real diamond" for the past three months - repeatedly. In this rock collection, a Herkimer Diamond (quartz) specimen is included! Oh my goodness - he was so excited! He does not allow anyone else to touch "his diamond." Thanks for making a little boy, very happy!

I'd recommend it for anyone

We purchased the collection of minerals for my daughter's birthday. My wife placed the minerals into a plaster/sand mix that the kids then "mined" from the plaster. It was a huge success!! We printed off a sheet so the kids to figure out what minerals they got and the minerals were part of their party favor bags they took home. The minerals were of high quality and the variety was very impressive. I'd recommend it for anyone.

Wounderful fun kit to go threw with the kids we all loved it. I was verry pleased with how many diffrent stones there were and nice pieces my tooth and ammonite came broke but aside from that it was a amazing buy for the price and upon emailing the ammonite and tooth were replaced the reply was same day and within two days i had the replacement this is by far the best customer service iv seen in a while id recomend this kit to anyone just starting out collecting stones and its great for the kiddos ill deffinitly be ordering all mine one. In the near future

Lots of fun activities in one box!

There were way more than 100 minerals and gems in our box. I counted over 130, not including the larger and more unique specimens. As you can see in the photo, we began by sorting everything by size and color. Getting everything organized helped us to identify many, but not all, of the specimens on their website. The fossil ammonite was beautiful. We were compelled to google to learn more about ammonites. The Herkimer Diamond is rather small but interesting. The Activity Guide explains what makes this unusual piece of quartz desirable. My favorites in the box were the Megalodon tooth fragment and the geodes. Overall, I was amazed at the number of gems, minerals and even fossils that we got for the price! Thank you!

Excellent kit!

Really enjoyed going through the rocks with my grandson. He claimed the crystal immediately. Love that the ammonite had some colorful iridescent bits on the back. The teeth were amazing! The geodes were nice size. Worth every penny. Very little gravel/sand, (maybe a half a teaspoon, if tgat...) you can see how much in the pic posted. I kept the gravel/sand, too,...it has pretty bits in it and I will use it in a craft or something!

ROCKS, GEMS AND FOSSILS

My boyfriend loves rocks, gems, and fossils, so this was the perfect Valentines Day gift for him. I bought a chocolate heart box and replaced all the chocolate with different rocks gems and fossils from this. He loved it. And i was the lucky person to break open the geodes. This is an exceptional gift for any one who is interested in rocks, gems, and fossils.

Great for Adults Too

I know this is supposed to be a kit for children, but I got it for myself and I am a 57 year old woman. I am having lots of fun looking up the rocks and matching them with their names. It is really nice that there is no filler gravel. There are many unique items in there too. Thank you .

This is a good starter kit for learners

This is a good starter kit for learners. Typical specimens like Pyrite, Geodes, Shark teeth, even Magalodon Tooth, and good speceimen of Ammonite, etc are included here. Quite interesting to read online about these. Only thing is that the Ammonite specimen came broken into two when the parcel was opened. I wish I had a whole Ammonite in tact. Otherwise this is a good kit. I will always recomment to others. This kit is really a treat to amateur Geologist. Further more that on writing to them about the broken ammonite, they immediately informed me that they are ready to happily forward a whole ammonite. Wonderful salesmanship. I am delighted now.

Good purchase

10 yr old son has enjoyed the collection, since it was purchased while studying the subject in school . Really liked the geode( picture from the two we cracked open) , sharks teeth as well. Good variety . Did arrive a bit dirty but hey , they are rocks , easy to wash .

My 7 year old daughter is constantly watching the ground wherever she goes looking for special rocks. My purse and her pockets are always full of rocks! She broke her arm last week and is restricted from all activities for the rest of the summer. I ordered her a special box of rocks as an activity especially for her while she is on the sidelines. The look on her face when she opened it was priceless! She has been obsessed with her 'treasures'! Summer is saved! Thank you!
