Total Newb... so having a time trying to figure how to properly tune and set intonation. The only other tuners I have are an android app (which I wont mention) and a Korg combo tuner. When using those , I found that the app had no problem with tuning open strings, but playing any fretted note would never register as the note I was playing .. and it would never agree with the Korg tuner. Not having another trustable tuner, I couldn't tell which to believe.. Both would say open notes were tuned perfectly, and both disagreed on fretted notes. Ten seconds with the snark, and very easily saw the strings are not as far out of intonation as the app would have led me to believe, and very closely matched the Korg .

Seems good, I read some 1 star reviews after ordering and it already being shipped. The reviews said the clips that hold the tuner head (display) onto the part that clips on to the headstock were breaking after people tried adjusting the position of the head. I was able to adjust mine super carefully without any breaking or cracking. Idk if mine was from a different shipment or after they fixed the problem. But mine seems fine so far and looks better then I imagine a clip on tuner could look. I’m still very careful with it and if it ever does break without warning I’ll update this review.

Inexpensive. Big bright display and lots of graduation lines make these easier to use than the others in the under $10 price range that I have tried. Doesn't have as many features as some of the others, but it works well for the primary purpose. Mostly plastic construction is somewhat fragile, but I can't complain too much for this price. Battery lasts for many months before the display gets too dim to easily read; replacement batteries are inexpensive. I have one in each of my ukulele cases so I always have it when I'm playing.

I used Smark for my guitars for many years. Finally, the two I used died. I tried others like it that were supposedly better. Not so. I found most of the tuners to be problematic in the settings and recognition of tunings. Make one error in button tap and you're changing everything. I like to just sit, tune, and play. I shift between C, Drop D, and standard tunings. I tossed all of my other tuners and purchased the Smark again. It has been super. I will not change again. Even a rack mount tuner requires some moments of time that take away from my playing. I like simple and effective. Smark is great, bright, and accurate for me.

I played the violin for years as a child but was never taught to tune it. This product is so simple to use and I get a perfect tune every time. My 9 year old is learning right now how to keep her violin in tune and sounding amazing independently. Very happy with the simplicity and ease of use.

Attach the Snark Tuner to the head stock ( where the tuning pegs are) of your instrument. Turn it on and sound the string you need to tune. It recognizes the note being played and displays whether you are sharp or flat by a graphic of colored rotating needles. The needles indicate if you tighten or loosen the string to achieve the correct pitch. Red needles only show you're flat and yellow needles after the green show you're sharp. The green dot centered over the green needle indicates you have tuned to a perfect pitch. The clamp has rubber pads to protect the finish of your instrument. It is easy to operate and it has power save, an occasional self test. It runs on a cr2032 coin cell. You get a free "chord secrets of the pros" when you register your warranty on their web page.

This is extremely easy to use. I'm not sure why there are complaints about lack of instructions, because it's ridiculously intuitive. This is coming from someone who's never tuned a guitar in her life (nor played one, when I purchased this). It was so easy to figure out how to tune an acoustic guitar! When playing along with various guitar lessons on Amazon Prime, which show a person how to tune a guitar without a tuner, the sounds from the lessons on the TV perfectly match the sounds coming out of the guitar tuned with the Snark SN5X Clip-On Tuner. Pros: Extremely easy to use, intuitive. Cons: None, except that the 'bag' it comes with it is made of an extremely cheap, paper-like material. Best to store it inside a third-party little makeup pouch or drawstring bag instead.

This is my second Snark Tuner. I am still using the first one I bought and am very happy with it. I own and play an acoustic guitar, a classical guitar, a ukulele, a bass guitar and an electric guitar and this tuner works nicely with every instrument. I am not replacing the first one, just adding another one for the convenience. The display is bright and easy to read and rotates 360 degrees so this works for right or left handed players. The "grip" on the clip is sturdy and holds just fine on every head stock on every instrument I have. No frills added, just a good basic tuner that is reliable. The cost is very competitive making this a nice choice.

Super useful. Can't believe it is so cheap, given how bright the screen is. My only complaint is that the "in tune" arc is so much bigger than the red/yellow slices ... I'd like to be able to zero in on a perfect pitch rather than be just "pretty close" which is all you can do with this snark. I can turn the tuner knobs on the guitar enough to hear a difference in pitch yet the snark claims it is still "pretty close." Yeah it probably still sounds great when you play chords, and people in a band need to tune to each other anyway, so it isn't a deal breaker. So still giving it 5 stars for how useful it is.

I’ve been out of the music scene for awhile so when my son decided to play guitar one of first things we had to get was a tuner. The tuner I remember was the one’s you plug into your guitar. So, when I went to order a tuner I ran across these tuners. I decided to get one after some research and determining this is the evolution of the tuner. I was still a bit skeptical until I used it. We were able to tune the guitar within a couple minutes, wow! The device just clips on top of the guitar and go ahead and start plucking those strings. I also choose this model with a mic so I can use it to tune other instruments like any woodwind. It’s also sturdy and small which is a plus especially if you have a lot of gear. If you need a guitar tuner, I recommend this one.
