Awesome product. Very Sturdy!! :)
I've been on a search for some side steps since purchase of my 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab, Maximum Steel color, Lonestar Edition. I think I've looked at every forum, magazine, and the far reaches of the internet before stumbling accross these. I don't remember how I found these, but am sure glad I did. I was about to purchase the Westin Protraxx 5 even with the numerous complaints of poor hardware being supplied with them here on Amazon. I ordered on a Monday and received the following Tuesday (8 days). Ship weight per Amazon was 106lbs. I was a little worried when I found them on my door step, as the box was taped, and re-taped and still split in half. Luckily Tyger Auto wrapped the bars nicely in bubble wrap, and the ball of hardware and instructions weren't lost in transit. Not sure what the guys with the browns trucks did to them along the way, but there must have been a horrible fight. There were a few minor hairline scratches I used a Qtip and some matte black spray paint to touch up. My inner child couldn't wait till the following morning to put on in the daylight, but big thanks to my wife for getting under the truck with me to mount on the the bolts. Tyger Auto customer service is great too. I'm an idiot and didn't read one part of the instructions even though it was clearly stated, and pointed me in the right direction. They even emailed me a PDF version too. The 2016 models don't need the front mount plate since Ram welded bolts on the frame at the factory. Very satisfied with the end product. Solid! I thought they may be giving a little with my 195lbs., but it was the suspension rocking rather than the steps. Looking at the trifold tonneau cover now. Lots of positive reviews there too. I purchased these online from Amazon, and writing this review on my own to help others make that decision that was so hard for me. Can't beat the price too!

Very sturdy, high quality and an easy, straightforward installation
I am a lifelong automotive enthusiast who has restored, customized and raced many different vehicles, so I am no stranger to tools or adding items to vehicles. I order these steps based on reviews on Amazon, and because my wife needed something to help her get inside our new truck. The item arrived in a large box that was a little beat up, but the actual steps were very well packaged with lots of foam and wrapping around them, so no damage. They are pretty darn heavy, so I would recommend using two people to install them. The packaging on the steps themselves shows passenger side on both, so you need to look at the diagrams carefully to figure out which one is the left and which one is the right. The same goes with the brackets used to reinforce the mounting points on the sides of the vehicle. My truck did not have any pre-installed threads, so I had to use the brackets that were supplied for all the mounting points. It was a pretty straightforward installation in that regard, and highly recommend that you zip tie the bolt that you will need to mount in the bracket to help insert it inside the body cavity. You definitely do not want to drop that bracket inside the frame rail. The bars themselves are powder coated and they seem to be of high quality. Everything fit as designed, and my wife and I installed both sides, including disassembling the box and clean up, in about 2 hours. The end result is very pleasing, and they seem extremely sturdy. This is the first time ordering from this manufacturer, and I would consider ordering from them again for another product.

Excellent product, especially for the price.
1. Packaging was excellent (though UPS did find a way to damage it). 2. The quality of the product, especially for the price, is excellent. 3. The fitment was excellent. The particular set weighs in at about 101 lbs total. You will lose about 2" of overall ground clearance. I haven't measured, but I'd estimate these stick out about 6" measured from the bottom of the door. I see that as a perk in defending the truck from wandering grocery carts and poor door-opening-etiquette of your local Walmart parking lot. They can be installed alone, but an extra set of hands could help. If you weigh over say... about 150lbs, it's going to be tough to slide under your truck, even on cardboard, with stock suspension on the truck. The chest and/or gut is going to get squeezed. I'd recommend using a lift or some jackstands to make enough room. I didn't. Instead, I used the ole beer gut as an adjustable stand to get these mounted.

A perfect addition to the Rebel
I ordered the Tyger Auto Star Armor kit for my 2018 Ram 1500 Rebel Crew Cab. I do try to read most of the reviews and check out the questions and answers. I learned some things that did help - thanks. Several reviewers mentioned problems with the kit they received. The side armor bars they received were dented, pieces were missing or the bars had wear spots indicating they had shifted in the packaging. The box that mine came in was beat up. It's a large heavy box - somewhere just over 100 lbs - so having shippers treat it gently is not going to happen. see attached picture. Opening the box and inspecting the kit i found that it was in perfect condition. There were no signs of wear on the "side armor" steps. No parts were bent or even slightly out of spec for installing. In the reviews it was mentioned that some guys got install instructions were vague or missing. The install instructions with my kit are 6 pages and covered the the install process in detail. I will say that the instructions I got are photocopies and maybe not the best copy job I've seen but they are legible and easy enough to follow. I wanted to install the kit myself. I picked up on some ideas reviewers posted and put them to use. Without a frame lift to pick the truck up i decided to get a few more inches of clearance by driving the front end up on solid wood ramps. On the rear end I used my floor jack to raise the wheels high enough to get 3 pieces of 2x8x16" under the wheels. I took the pressure off the jack and let the wheels back down on the 2x8's. The extra 4.5 inches of clearance was perfect. With the wheels blocked I was comfortable working under the pickup and could easily slide under using my creeper. One of the first steps is to inspect the mounting holes on the back of the rocker panel. On my truck the front 2 holes were already threaded for the 8mm 1.25 pitch mounting bolts. The center and rear mounting points did not have threaded inserts so it was necessary to use the included "8mm bolt and nut plates". The instructions are clear and easy to follow. but the process is a bit tricky. The "8mm bolt and nut plate" has to slip inside the rocker panel through a hole above the mounting holes. The"bolt and nut plate" is maneuvered to get the bolt to come out one of the mounting holes. Once the bolt comes through the hole you slip a plastic retainer on, This keeps the nut plate from falling back inside the rocker panel. An idea one guy had was to tie a piece of string or loop of wire to the 8mm bolt on the other end of the nut plate, If it does slip from your fingers and falls in you can fish it out. This is worth the small bit of effort it takes - I didn't lose a nut plate into the rocker but it was close -- once. (see the picture.) Supporting the side armor sections while installing them .-- as mentioned in another review - I used jack stands.on each end. I padded the metal top of the jack stands so as not nick the finish on the side armor. Also, I used some of the packing material on each end of the side armor's top bar just in case it made contact with the pickup's paint. No sense having good looking side armor if you buggered up the paint job. This setup positioned the side armor just about right. With the side armor on the jack stands the install was pretty straight forward. Some reviews mentioned using 2 guys to do the job but i was able to do it myself. The driver's side did take a while to get mounted and adjusted and then the passengers side just seemed to go on without a hitch in half the time. The total install time was probably 3.5-4 hrs, These are the best side steps or "side armor" that I've installed. They are solid - they mount not only to the back of the rocker panel but again thru the holes in the "pinch weld" at the bottom of the Rocker panel. They are good looking - these aren't your mama's side steps for the minivan. They give the right feel and look to the Rebel. But, If they don't protect the pickup they aren't worth much. If I have something to add to this review later on I'll do it.

Tyger Running Board Install On My Ram 1500 Big Horn
My package came in a thick cardboard box. It was wrapped in bubble wrap. It had plenty of foam to keep it in place. It was held together with 3 yellow wrap straps. Brackets were marked with D (drivers) and P (passenger). Boards had a sticker on the passenger side to identify as the passenger side. You have to take a bracket marked D and put it on the passenger side rear, and vice versa. It would have been nice to include a pic of where to place the bolts on the pinch wedge. It does not specify a bolt tightening sequence. I did the 6 bolts to the frame, then the pinch wedge, then the single bolt holding the bracket to the pinch and running board. I used jacks stands to hold the board in place while I installed the bolts to the frame. They are the perfect height for stepping into my Ram 1500 Big Horn. Very well constructed.

The instructions were clear and easy to follow and install was very straightforward
Fits perfectly on my 2017 Ram Crew Cab. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and install was very straightforward. I did need an assist from a friend cause these steps are HEAVY! Also, they work very well with my Mopar mud flaps - have about 1" of clearance. The steps are rock solid with no flex (I'm ~195 lbs) and the "platforms" line up perfectly with your natural step point into and out of the truck. This style is somewhat unique with the three pipe design and I love the look. If you can find them, I highly recommend this product.

GET THEM COATED WITH BED LINER LIKE LINE-X or equivalent
2017 Ram diesel crew cab. Easy install. My disabled dad fell out of my truck a week after receiving it, so the hunt began for good looking unique truck steps. I read a lot of comments about receiving damaged pieces and purchased any how. Yep, came damaged, likely by shipping company. I photographed box, obvious where the fork truck stabbed through box putting small dent in 1 tube, Found a few other imperfections in the finish ( to thin, missed seam, inconstant texture) BUT... i took them to Line-X for bed liner coating BEFORE I installed them. AWESOME IDEA !! $185.00 They look perfect now, sealing the tube end caps in, making them completely water/stone proof and the texture is great. (shinny, not dull like before). i barely see the dent now. These look just right on my truck, my 10 yr old daughter easily gets in the truck, now wife doesn't have to jump out, we see if dad ever gives me another shot. Easy to install as my truck had all the factory holes, everything lined up perfect. About 2.5 hours total install time. the center bolt bracket was a bother to insert in the rocker on both sides (Dodge issue, NOT Tyger fault) but after 20 minutes of playing i got it. P.S. bed liner comes in different colors too.. hint hint ;) my plan is to get under coating now to seal hardware after installation of my BOSS plow is complete. Here are some pics before and after. notice the 6 bolts in the pinch weld ( i tried to show them for your information, they will get coated before to long.)

Very Sturdy and look tough ...
Rocker panel AND pinch weld attachment points really help with the mechanical advantage other steps have on their mounts. These are stiff. I put jack stands under the frame to eliminate any suspension flex and measured sag with my 300lbs on them. I measured less than 1/8th". That is truly phenomenal, even for frame mounted rocksliders, let alone side steps.

Great look with nice fit and finish!
Product arrived as described with no shipping scuffs or scratches. All hardware was present. Instructions were straightforward and easy to follow with good photos. Installation was easy but you will need a set of extra hands to put the steps in place. You do need to be extra careful when initially setting steps on bolts that are held in place with the plastic retainer. I carelessly forced the steps into place pushing the bolt through the retainer. The bolt then fell into the frame area and required me to do some fishing around in order to get the bolt back in place. Not impossible, but with some exercised patience, it took me about 5 minutes. The steps have some adjustment room to get things level and centered. Finish appears to be pretty decent. For the price, if it ever began to deteriorate, I would just have it sprayed with textured bedliner. Initially I am very pleased with the purchase. Time will tell on the finish. About an hour install time, maybe one and a half hours.

I love the look of these steps
I love the look of these steps. The install was a bit tricky, I did it by myself. I will stress that it should be done by two people, but I did it alone with minimal struggle. Fits perfect on 2017 Ram 2500. All the factory holes lined up perfectly with the mounts. The trick for the main support brackets that come with the kit, use a bottle jack on the step nearest the bracket you are trying to get the bolt into. This took the weight off that area so I could swivel the bracket into place and thread in the bolt. You'll understand that better if you get this kit and you don't have factory tthreaded holes. After I figured it out on the driver side, the passenger side went much faster and easier. The only thing I hated were the 6mm bolts for the small support brackets. I stripped out two bolts with standard wrenches (No, I didn't use a breaker bar). I replaced those two bolts with 1/4" grade 8 bolts. 1/4" still fit the supplied washers, and cleared the hole just fine. Much better strength and I think they should have supplied grade 5, 1/4" bolts for that spot anyway. 6mm is just too small based on what happened. I'll keep an eye on the rest of the 6mm that did not strip, but I bought enough of the 1/4" to replace them as I have little faith in them. Steps are strong and hold a lot of weight, the paint is super durable, I found out the hard way doing the install myself I dropped one side of the driver side steps about 10" onto concrete. No damage. Packaged like fort Knox, do way could they have been damaged in shipping, they were protected that well. So, 5 stars, other than the 6mm bolts. But i generally over build things anyway and would probably changed those out regardless. The larger 8mm bolts worked fine.
