This is suitable for maintaining both freshwater and saltwater tanks. Each part is meticulously designed to give you the best aquarium cleaning experience you can possibly have.
  • ✔ ROUTINE MAINTENANCE MADE EASY — Every SunGrow fish tank substrate cleaner comes with a short nozzle with nozzle net, flexible standard tubing, operation/pump bulb and discharge hose. While all these parts can be adjusted and modified as per your needs, the operation bulb or the hand starter is its unique component that sets it apart from other similar items in the market.
  • ✔ FREQUENT WATER CHANGE ENSURES HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT — Without water changes, invisible toxins build up in your tank creating toxic environment for your inhabitants. But, with the kink-resistant siphon cleaner by SunGrow, you can do it frequently and it will not take much of your time. This no-spill system is made high quality to not let aquarium fish get hurt or even disturbed while it is being used to transfer water.
  • ✔ 2-MINUTES TO SETUP — The short nozzle feature of SunGrow Aquarium sand and substrate cleaner is perfect when you want to replenish or drain water out of your tank. Just place the nozzle in your tank. For convenience, attach it with a suction cup. This will make work easier for you because you don’t need to hold it while draining out water! Press on, or squeeze the pump bulb 5 to 7 times and the water will start to flow out of the nozzle. See the description below for more details.
  • ✔ HASSLE-FREE STORAGE- The flexible siphon pump helps preventing the small gravel and debris from going into the hose. Not only that, after it has done the deed, it won’t give you a hard time thinking where you would store it, as it can be placed practically anywhere! With its strategic portable design, you can keep it in any place you want where you can easily access it the next time you need it.

I have quite a small tank (advertised as 3.5 gallons, it's not. I can only fill it up with a bit over 2.5 gallons of water). This is a little large and having never used a siphon before it took a couple attempts before I got the hang of it, mostly because I was using the wrong end in the water to start with. The skinny end is the discharge and the end furthest from the blue bulb goes into your tank, just FYI. Once I actually read the directions, though, this worked very well. The siphon vacuum is designed rather like a strainer - I could see sand or microscopic gravel getting sucked into the tube, but I had no issues with my ordinary-sized gravel. This drained the water quickly and got a lot of waste off the bottom. It's not perfect, but I didn't expect it to be - my fish was thrust upon me as a white elephant gift and I've had to gradually get equipment one paycheck at a time. Daily water changes, which I've been doing, will not clear nearly a month's worth of grime off the bottom and I didn't expect one change using the siphon to do it either. I expect my betta is going to be a lot happier now that I can clean his tank properly and keep the nitrate levels down by being able to get rid of waste.

I love this thing, its simple and easy to use. The squeeze primer is so much better than starting the suction yourself. It works great for for both my ten gallon tanks and my 2 gallon. plus the the net attachment on the end is nice as it keeps my White Clouds from getting sucked in (they're weirdos and like the suction for some reason, haha). The bulb doesn't come apart from the rest, but I haven't had any issues with it as long as I store it with the tube ends hanging down to prevent sitting water in it. My dog got ahold of it and I like it enough that I'm back to buy a replacment.

This is the first aquarium gravel cleaner that has actually worked well for me. I have a Python clean & fill but because I have well water, there was not enough faucet pressure for it to work. Then I bought a Terapump. I could never get it to suction but ended up shoveling the gravel and water manually which took forever and made quite a mess. I was so happy to have this SunGrow Aquarium cleaner work both fast and efficiently. You can see the water passing through the hose so can move it when it clears to the next dirty spot. Additionally it did not cloud the water the way Terapump did with my shoveling action. I know I will be much more conscientious about keeping my tank clean now that it won't be such a tedious chore. As some reviewers have pointed out the instructions are not written in English but the picture on the package is very self-explanatory.

Before I bought this, I was changing my tanks' water with a small jar and a bucket. It wasn't unmanageable, but it certainly took a while to scoop out 3 gallons of water and I wasn't getting the gravel cleaned at all. This reduced the time it took to change the water to less than 10 minutes and it's much better at getting the gravel cleaned. It has a basic filter (the "nozzle net") at the head to prevent gravel, fish, plants, etc. from getting sucked up, but some small pieces of gravel will still make it past. Not a big problem though; the nozzle can be removed and I just dump whatever gravel is in there back into the tank. The pump works great as long as the nozzle is elevated.

So this is a very cool idea. I bought it hoping it would work but willing to risk it. I am tired of sucking tank water!! It works better that the more expensive one I purchase,so far I had 2/3 of the water gone before I realized! Wish I had a longer one for the bigger tanks. Highly recommend.

We purchased this to do a water change on our 3 gallon betta tank. This was my first time as a new betta owner, so I was nervous. This product was very easy to use. First, I rinsed it out prior to use. I had marked a bucket with exactly how much water to take out of the tank, and had a bucket of warm, treated water ready, to replace exactly how much I took out. I attached the spout, put it in his tank & squeezed the bulb a few times to siphon out the water, which flowed after maybe 3 squeezes. I was disappointed that it didn't come with something to control the flow as advertised, but I didn't really need that anyway. Lifting the hose out of the water slowed the flow. I was able to successfully "vacuum" the gravel without disturbing anything, and without sucking the fish up by mistake lol. He was curious and watched, but stayed safely away as it was being done. Success!!! Very happy with this item; highly recommended!! Much better than having to suck on a tube (as I've seen other people do) to get the flow started!!!

This product worked as advertised. About 4-5 pumps and the hose was siphoning, pulling crud from the bottom of the tank. Siphoned more than adequate to pull stuff from bottom but leave heavies behind like gravel/rocks (which is what you want). Worked very well using a 2.5 gallon bucket. (Wouldn't recommend a 5 gallon pail unless you only fill half way or are strong enough to dump). Would recommend this pump. Good for price for sure. I also bought a plastic scrubber with handle to clean glass.

I used this on my small tank (<3gal.) The safety net works great to keep gravel in the tank and my fish safe! My weekly water changes are a breeze and less messy because of this handy tool! Even though I have a smaller aquarium that is less than 3 gallons, I am very happy I bought this tool because it saves me so much time. It can be a little difficult to maneuver the hose with my small tank but with patience it works great!

I recently bought a small BiOrb tank for my betta, and while it's not really that big, it does hold about 4 gallons -- way more than I can carry over to the sink for changing the water. I needed a way to pump out some of the water for partial changes without making a huge mess, and at first, I looked at the similar manual pump hose offered by BiOrb. Normally, I don't buy off-brand supplies for that tank, but this one seemed like a no-brainer, and sure enough, it works perfectly. It took me a minute or two to figure out how it works and get it to pump out the water at a good rate (you have to keep squeezing the little bulb while it's going), but in no time, I had a couple of gallons pumped out of the tank and was able to get things clean. The little grate over the end that goes in the water prevented it from picking up the stones on the bottom of the aquarium while leaving my little moss balls alone. Paired with Collapsible Bucket, cleaning my fish tank has never been easier!

I have only used this once so far but it worked great. Previously I used a siphon that needed to be moved up and down in order to siphon, it was awful. This one you just squeeze the bulb a few times and it's off to the races! I was sent a question about this product several weeks ago about the siphon not working, but was unable to answer because mine was working fine....until today. So fyi, if the siphon no longer has any suction, pull off the small hose at the end of the squeeze pump. There is a blue plastic "flap" that get s stuck open resulting in no suction. Just close it and you should be good to go.
